Genesis
Ch 28
vs. 1-5: Isaac never told Jacob which sister. I find this story kind of sad for Leah.
vs. 6-9: Esau goes even further to not ask his father what he should do. He takes another wife from Ishmael whom God has not given the inheritance of Abraham.
vs. 10-17: He sees the ladder. What an awesome vision and promise.
vs. 18-22: We see God becoming Jacob's God. We also see Jacob promising a tithe. I think it is important that everyone choose God as their own God. It does you nothing if only your family serves God and not you.
Ch 29
vs. 1-8: They definitely guard that well good. During this time your wells held meaning. Water was a source of life and to own a well meant you had some wealth. Or at least that is the implication to Isaac and Jacob here.
vs. 9-12: So Jacob fell in love at first sight. We don't even see him asking the Lord as the servant did for Isaac. Also, Jacob must have been strong because it says he rolled that big stone himself while earlier it took several shepherds to do it.
vs. 13-14: How nice of Laban to greet him so well. His attitude changes later.
vs. 15-20: Wow, seven years seemed like a day. This man was smitten. However, he didn't know either of them. He just saw that Rachel was prettier than Leah. He didn't know if they were terrible or not. How foolish, we have yet to see him implore the Lord. I know his story of meeting Rachel looks similar to that of Rebeh=kahs but that means nothing if the Lord is not involved.
vs. 21-30: I feel so bad for Leah.
vs. 31-35: The Lord loved Leah because she was hated. Also, Leah learned to love the Lord. Judah, Now I will praise the lord. It had nothing to do with Jacob.
Ch 30
vs. 1-8: Racheal never asked God. I understand Jacob's anger. Rachael is trying to create her own miracle without God.
vs. 9-13: SO Leah did the same? These poor servants get caught in their master's games.
vs. 14-18: I feel so bad for Leah here. She just wants to be loved. This is why polyamory is horrible.
vs. 19-21: She no longer seeks love, just to be honored by her husband.
vs. 22-24: And thus Joseph was born! God remembered Rachel.
vs. 25-36: Trickery runs deep in this family.
vs. 37-43: More trickery afoot. Also for context spotted animals didn't hold as much value as non spotted. That is why Jacob suggested he take the spotted. However, Laban still stole that because he didn't want Jacob to leave.

Mathew
Ch 10
vs. 1-4: And Judas Iscariot-the betrayer. Harsh. We see how Mathew felt. Now all the disciples are gathered. They are listed nice and neat here We really see Mathew's personality showing in his writing style.
vs. 5-15: Interesting. The disciples had to rely solely on the Lord to take care of them. They were not to take any form of money. Some preachers would have an aneurysm just hearing that. Also, note how Jesus tells them to let their peace be in the house if they are worthy but if not withhold their peace. Amazing. There is peace in the house of The Lord. I have felt it. entering the house of a hoy ghost-filled saint is different than entering the house of someone not serving the Lord.
vs. 16-23: When you are persecuted do not worry about what you need to say. God will speak through you if you have the Holy Ghost. God will take care of His people. Even if you are persecuted God will reward you in Heaven.
vs. 24-25: They rejected Jesus. They will inevitably reject us as well who serve Him.
vs. 26-33: If He knows the sparrows and counts all the hairs on your head He knows you and the troubles you go through. God will take care of you.
vs. 34-39: Jesus did not come to have half of you. If your family doesn't serve, you must serve. If your child resents God you must serve God. It might mean that you go before the throne knowing their destination is not heaven. Even still you love the Lord. That is why it is so important to pray for your lost loved ones. The only thing that will change their mind is prayer.
vs. 40-42: You will be blessed if you bless His people.
