Numbers
Ch. 21
vs. 1-3: I don't remember this part at all.
vs. 4-9: Interesting instructions. The imagery reminds me of the sign for medicine. I wonder how much of that is based on old mythology and how much of the mythology is a perversion of what God already did?
vs. 10-14: The book of the Wars of the Lord. What book is that?
vs. 15-18: More history. Some I understand some I don't. What well is this?
vs. 19-35: The Israelites won the battle. Also the way they made history into songs is very similar to us. A lot of our nursery songs are centered around historic events such as ring around the rosy.
Ch. 22
vs. 1-6: They recognize this guy as legit.
vs. 7-14: It appears that Balaam served the Lord. He is a very interesting individual.
vs. 15-21: He seeks the Lord and God talked to him. He is not mentioned as a priest. Maybe he is left over from the remnant that served God before Abraham? He wasn't apart of the lineage but he served God. There is some debate here in scholarly texts. Here's a link to an open discussion on the topic.

Mark
Ch. 10
vs. 1-12: Jesus is pointing out that Moses made some allotments because he knew they people. We often hear arguments about the Old Testament slavery. Most people don't understand that these slaves are not what we think of in our modern time but more like indentured servants. God puts protection over them and even goes as far as to outlaw it for several instances. I think this is also one of those such allotments for the time.
vs. 13-16: This is what child like faith speaks of. The absolute trust in God to just come receiving.
vs. 17-22: What a very sad circumstance. It says Jesus loved him! It wasn't enough, he had a great many possessions. Don't be too attached to the things of this earth.
vs. 23-31: Not much to say here. Jesus is talking about earthly possessions and how they weigh you down.
vs. 32-34: As forward as He can say it and they still don't understand.
vs. 35-46: exactly! Beware people who try to lord over you spiritually for they do not understand the Father and how He came.
vs. 47-52: Amazing!
