Ch. 3
vs. 1-4: We are getting Aaron's lineage, or the Levites so to speak.
vs. 5-13: He says the Levites are His in place of all the first borns that are due to Him. How interesting.
vs. 14-26: To Gershon and those under him was placed on guard duty of the tent of meeting in the tabernacle, it's covering, the screen to the entrance, the alter and it's chords. That's a lot.
vs. 27-32: Kohath and those under him were responsible for the ark, the table, the lampstand, the alters, the vessels of the sanctuary, and the screen. Not sure how that screen is different from before. Eleazar was in this clan and He being a son of Aaron was chief of chiefs in the Levites. I think because of those their work is more on the inside of the tabernacle.
vs. 33-37: Merari had the structure it looks like. So the frames, the bars, the pillars the bases, and all the accessories with those.
vs. 38-39: So here on this side is Moses and Aaron. Their direct family was in charge of guarding the sanctuary itself.
vs. 40-43: Between the Levites and all the first born was only a difference of 273. How remarkably close!
vs. 44-51: God had them make up the difference! He was showing that this was needed. What an interesting way to demonstrate and also provide for Aaron and the Levites at the same time.

Ch. 4
vs. 1-15: So here we are talking about how the Israelites are to transport the tabernacle when the pack up camp. Aaron and his sons come in and cover all of the artifacts of the sanctuary then the sons of Kohath will carry them. Interesting to not the colors of the cloth are specific to what they are coloring. Kind of like how we use colored towels in cleaning, on for such dirty places, one for dusting and so on. Also after they are covered in a cloth they get covered in animal skin. Reminds me how we are covered by the blood of the lamb, a sacrifice had to be made to get that covering. Pretty neat.
vs. 16: Eleazar is in charge of the oil for light, the incense, the grain offering, and the anointing oil.
vs. 17-20: So God protects them the Kohathites by assigning them this task but making sure Aaron and his son's cover it so they don't die touching it.
vs. 21-28: The Gershonites are responsible for curtains, the tent of meeting and it's covering, and the screen to the entrance.
vs. 29-33: The sons of Merari are to carry the frame work. Basically the heavy structure and the metal stuff.
vs. 34-45: It looks like the son's of Merari are the largest so it makes sense that they carry the heavier load. Aaron's immediate family wasn't a whole clan so I'm sure that has a lot to do with how the work load is distributed. God really has a reason for everything.
vs. 46-49: A quick recap.
