Genesis
Ch. 7158Please respect copyright.PENANAnc3l3Hk2CC
vs. 1-5: Not every animal was taken by two! Also, neat how God gives him 7 days to prepare and is then like, "Yeah, you're gonna be here forty days!"
vs. 6-16: All of Noah's family came in. They must have been on good terms to be able to go forty days in a boat with no one else.
vs. 17-24: God wiped it all out. How sad.
Ch. 8
vs. 1-5: Wind calmed this flood. How interesting. God cooled it all down. It's interesting to note that almost every creation mythology mentions a worldwide flood. I believe they remember what happened with Noah.
vs. 6-12: That Raven was not about to come back to the arc. Also, the dove bringing back an olive branch is where we get the expression of extending an olive branch. Just like what America did before the Declaration of Independence.
vs. 13-19: Even though the dove came back NOah waited to leave until God told him to. I think that is interesting to remember. Even if we think it will be ok because of our personal observations it is best to wait on the Lord for guidance.
vs. 20-22: When God smelled the sacrifice of Noah He made them a promise. The alters in our lives make a difference.
Ch. 9
vs. 1-6: God says not to eat anything with blood still in it. He gives dominion once again of every creeping thing to Noah and His children just like with Adam. We see a repeat here. Note that He is very clear about blood here. Other than its hygenic nature God stipulates early on the significance of blood. Later in Leviticus, He states blood holds life. This is why so many sacrifices revolve around blood.
vs. 7-11: God established a covenant with Noah and his ancestors. Not to flood the earth again to kill. We see his promise before but now he renews this promise between Him and Noah.
vs. 12-17: The establishment of the rainbow. See even God creates reminders to reminisce on. Also unlike a contract, a covenant can be mostly one-sided. The power in the covenant is in the character of the person and in its inability to be broken.
vs. 18-25: Wow, that's a good ad for not drinking. Also, this is the establishment of tension between the Canaanites and their cousins.
vs. 26-29: Noah lived 950 years even after God shortened man's life span. There seems to be a theme of correlation between long life spans and righteousness especially here in the being. Following the genealogies of Cain and Seth we see both lines gradually having shorter lives but it is not directly linear.

vs. 1-3 JOHN! Love that guy. Preaching in the wilderness and still drawing a crowd.
vs. 4-6: Imagine the anointing John must have had for such masses to confess their sins and willingly travel to the wilderness to be baptized/ Also I don't know if I could eat locus. Any of you willing to taste test it for me? JKJK
vs. 7-10: Magor beef with the religious sects here. A brood of vipers. Sheesh.
vs. 11-12: Some quoting of prophesy here from John. It's very interesting the winnowing of Wheat and chaff. If you ever have time look up a video.
vs, 13-17: John was humble for sure. Also, this is a very pivotal moment in Jesus's ministry. His personhood is validated by the spirit and an audible voice!
