*Help Me*
Hello
It’s me
I was wondering if after all these years
You’d like to meet to go over everything
They say that time’s supposed to heal
Yeah
But I ain’t done much healing
Hello…
Can you hear me?
I’m in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
It was a beautiful day, as Katherine stood at the entrance to the compound, human, Klaus in front of her.
“Katerina,” he greeted. He wasn’t surprised to see her human, since he’d been told by Damon about what had happened. He assumed that the elder Salvatore had thought that he’d be more than happy to see her human. On the contrary though, he wouldn’t wish a vampire to get turned back into a human. Not even Katerina herself, no matter what she’d done. He’d never say it out loud, but he and Katerina were alike. They both loved being non-human. This was like a punishment to her by her baby vampire doppelganger. “What can I do for you?” he questioned, knowing that Katerina wasn’t here for just a social call. Human or not, she was here because she needed something. They were way too much alike.
“I’m here to ask for your help. I don’t know if I can trust Elijah after he left, so I’m coming to you. I’ve got many enemies. If word gets out that I’m human, I can’t protect myself. My enemies will come for me and I’ll be good as dead. I need protection,” she replied. She hated coming to Klaus for help, but she was out of options, since Damon wasn’t trustworthy when it came to her and Stefan had been MIA for a whole summer, and still was. She had no one else to turn to that she could semi-trust. She had no choice right now but to put faith and trust in her greatest enemy of 500 years.
I’ve forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There’s such a difference between us
And a million miles
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times
To tell you
I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home
He sighed. A part of him would rather kill her or see her dead, but the humanity part of him that Sweet Caroline had brought out in him a few years ago, knew that the right thing would be to help her and protect her. Besides, if he didn’t help her, he knew Elijah wouldn’t like it and he’d rather keep Elijah on his good side. Plus, he knew that he’d done enough harm to her ever since they’d met in 1492. She deserved better now that she was once again, human, whether she liked being human or not. So, thinking all of this over, he decided to do the right thing.
“Fine. You may stay here as long as you need to. I’ve ruined enough of your life in the duration of 500 years. It’s only fair to you that I protect you as long as you need it. Make yourself at home, luv, and welcome to New Orleans, Katerina.”
He stepped aside and she walked inside.
“Thanks,” was all that she could say to that. In so many words, she knew that he was apologizing for everything he’d put her through and she knew that he was trying to be a better person. Caroline really had brought out his humanity back in Mystic Falls.
She headed up the stairs to choose a room and go lay down, once she had a shower, of course. She hadn’t had one nor had her hair brushed all summer. She’d been homeless and hungry and tired all summer long, not knowing if any of her enemies would be around the next corner.
*Heart Attack*
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I’ve tried
To tell you
I’m sorry for breaking your heart
But it doesn’t matter
It clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore
Hello
How are you?
It’s so typical of me to talk about myself
I’m sorry
I hope that you’re well
It was a dismal night at the compound, as Katherine headed down the stairs for something to drink. She stopped though, when the pain came. About half way down the staircase, she felt pain travel up her left arm and travel to her chest. She put a hand over her heart, as the pain traveled there. Then she tumbled the rest of the way down the stairs and everything went black.
When Klaus heard the noise as if someone had fallen down the stairs, he went to investigate, coming from the parlor where he’d been having a shot glass of Bourbon. When he left the parlor to investigate, he saw that Katerina was on her back on the floor, obviously having been the one to fall down the stairs.
“Katerina.”
He blurred to her side to make sure she was okay, only to realize that she wasn’t breathing. That’s when he realized that there had to have been consequences with the cure. He knew blood wouldn’t help her, so he took her to the closest hospital he knew of so they could revive her and tell him what was wrong with her.
*Dying*
Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?
It’s no secret that the both of us are running out of time
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times
To tell you
I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done
It was a beautiful day, as Katherine lay in bed after her heart attack the night before. She was on bedrest until the end. Klaus though, was determined to find a way to stop this from happening. She didn’t think that there was a way to stop it though, since time was catching up with her and even if there was a way, she felt like it was too late to save her life or to stop this from happening. As she lay there, alone in the room in bed, she rested, though it was not a peaceful rest.

It was a dismal night, as Katerina Petrova, newly turned, found her entire village slaughtered. Afraid what she would find, but needing to know anyway, she ran towards the cabin she had grown up with with her parents. That’s when she saw that her father was dead, hanging from a wall with a sword through him. She gasped seeing that, but she didn’t grieve for him. He’d been the one to tear Nadia from her arms after all. Then she saw her ma’ma laying on the bed with her throat torn open. That’s what broke her into a million pieces. She ran to her and knelt by her, weeping over her with a shattered, broken heart. That had been the night that Katerina had died and Katherine had been born.
*Present Day*
Hello from the other side
I must’ve called a thousand times
To tell you
I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done
Hello…
From the other side
Katherine awoke from the memory, though she was still weak from the whole dying of old age rapidly thing. That’s when Klaus came in and sat on her bedside.
“You’re here,” she said, glad that he was there. The months that they’d connected after she’d first come to him for protection had brought them together for the better.
He rested a hand on her left one.
“That I am, Katerina. I will always be here,” he promised her. “There is a way to stop this and save you. The witch Davina has found a way,” he informed her.
She gave a smile at that, glad that she wouldn’t have to endure this pain of dying much longer.
After the spell Davina did, Katherine was no longer dying and she was back to health, though she was still human. Katherine didn’t care that she was still human though, because what she cared about was being alive. She’d deal with dying again in the next sixty years; not now. She’d have about sixty years at least, to spend her life with Klaus. Though they’d been enemies for a long time, their connection throughout the months had brought them together and they had fallen for each other.
