It was a dismal night, as Kol sat at the bar, having a shot glass of Bourbon, as usual. He’d just been resurrected in his vampire body, instead of being a witch. Davina had been kind enough to bring him back to life. As he sat there, he suddenly felt a presence he couldn’t see or hear. Maybe it was being formerly a witch before dying thing. He knew that since he couldn’t see or hear the presence, it was a ghost. Hopefully, it wasn’t someone haunting him that he’d killed in the last 1,000 years.
When he felt as if the presence had touched him on the arm, he realized that it wasn’t an enemy of his nor an angry ghost of any kind. It was just a ghost that probably just wanted help.
Later that night, when he went to sleep, Katherine was there in his dreams. He didn’t know her, but he’d met Elena, so he knew what a Petrova doppelganger looked like. He also knew Elena so well that he knew she wasn’t Elena, which made him realize who it was. She seemed different from what he’d heard her as, though.
In the dream, she was sitting on a white couch in what looked to be maybe a flat. Leave it up to her to choose an expensive-looking place in a dream.
“What do you want, Katherine?” he questioned her, getting to the point. He knew mostly about her. Though she seemed to be his kind of style, he wasn’t much to share and if Elijah was still in love with her, even though it seemed like Elijah had moved on, he wouldn’t want to get between it. He knew from stories to be careful what you wished for with her, too. At least vampire her. She seemed to not be a vampire anymore.
She looked at him, getting to the point.
“I need to come back to life. After Elijah left the way he did, I don’t know if I can trust him anymore, so I’m asking you, since, for obvious reasons, I don’t trust Klaus. I’d go straight to Sophie, but since she’s dead too, I can’t. I don’t want to be dead forever. Especially when I had such a short time to live as a human. After Elijah left, I tried to kill Elena and she shoved the cure down my throat. About a month later, I died of old age though I also kind of body jumped into Elena, which everyone found out about and Stefan killed me with the Traveler knife. I need your help to come back to life and I know that you know how much it sucks to die painfully and not be able to interact with others. The Other Side is gone. I’m alone over here for good. I can’t be this way forever, so please…help me,” she told him.
She was right when she said that he knew what it was like. He didn’t like to be reminded of that time. Because he knew what it was like, he decided to do whatever he could for her. Besides, even though he was a psychotic maniac last time he was a vampire, he’d always be there for a damsel in distress that needed help. He and his siblings were alike in that area.
“Don’t worry, darlin.’ I’ll help you. I know a witch that can bring you back real soon.”
She smiled at that.
“Thanks, Kol.”

The next night, Davina had brought Katherine back to life. Katherine was human again, but she wasn’t dying of old age, thankfully. She didn’t want that pain of dying of old age rapidly. She’d rather grow old at a regular pace than a fast one. The way a normal human should, even if she wasn’t normal.
After coming back to life, she thanked Davina and met Kol at the compound in his room.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet the famous Kol Mikaelson,” she greeted with a smile, sitting on the foot of his bed. “I’ve heard a lot about you, but just like me, it seems that you’re not who you once were. I assume that has something to do with when you came back as a witch and got hexed to death by Finn and then got brought back to life in your original body. Thank you for helping me. It’s one thing to live an eternity alone with no one at your side, and another thing to die and be alone forever. I didn’t know what to expect when I died, but unlike Nadia, I knew that I wouldn’t have peace when I died,” she told him.
“It’s nice to meet you too, darlin’. Who’s Nadia?” he replied.
“She was my daughter my father tore from my arms in 1490 for being illegitimate. I had her out of wedlock and my father didn’t approve, so he tore her away as punishment to me for disobeying the rules in that time. As you know I’m sure though, I never liked playing by the rules. Nadia payed for me having her out of wedlock, as did I. I was banished which took me to England. That’s when I met Elijah and Klaus. Shortly after Elena shoved the cure down my throat and I returned to Mystic Falls and asked Damon of all people for protection, which he obviously didn’t do for long, Nadia found me. At first I thought she was an enemy, but when she told me the truth of who she really was, I realized that she was my long lost daughter. That was short lived though, when Tyler thought it was a good idea to bite her. I thought about asking for the cure, but Nadia just wanted me to be happy. That obviously never happened, considering Stefan killed me right after I had to watch her die. But the past is in the past and it needs to stay there, or else we just keep living in the past,” she informed him.
“I’m sorry for your loss, darlin’,” he replied. He couldn’t imagine how heartbreaking it would be to be reuniting with your daughter, only to have to lose her yet again for good. He’d seen how devastated their mother had been when Henrik had been killed. He’d hate to know the pain Katherine had gone through and probably still was going through.

“It’s okay. I survived the death of my mother. I’ll survive this, too. Somehow, us doppelgangers always tend to survive. We may go through losing everyone we love one way or another, but we always survive, even if we don’t get to live the life we want. It’s a curse for being a doppelganger, no matter what you are,” she replied.

Several months later, after getting to know each other quite well and bonding, they fell in love and got together. So they finally found their happy ending, whether they anticipated their happy ending with each other or not.
