It was a dismal night at a ball on Klaus’ birthday, as Klaus stood in front of Katerina Petrova, the latest doppelganger.
She did a curtsey for him and then stood there, looking at him.
“Pleasure, my Lord.”
Klaus smiled and kissed her head.
“The pleasure’s all mine, Katerina.” When he was told that she was from Bulgaria, I spoke Bulgarian, which meant “hello” or “good day,” and added at the end, “Katerina.”
She smiled. “Very good,” praising him for being able to speak Bulgarian.

It was a beautiful day, as a human Katherine spoke to Klaus at the compound.
“I need your help,” she stated.
He knew what she meant, since he knew that she was clearly human.
“What do you need, Katerina?” he questioned.
“Protection. If word gets out that I’m human, I’m good as dead. Please…help me,” she replied, hoping that he’d do it. She didn’t have anything to offer him and she wasn’t in the mood for deals. She’d just spent an entire summer afraid, homeless, hungry, and having nowhere to go.
“Very well then. I’ll protect you,” he promised her, and let her in. He was doing this for his brother, since he knew Elijah wouldn’t want anything to happen to her.

It was a beautiful day, as Katherine and Klaus made out in Klaus’ room. Though they’d been enemies for 500 years, they’d found love with one another at last. She’d even forgiven him for what he’d done to her in past 500 years and he promised to always protect her, no matter what got in the way. Besides, they were very much alike, whether they wanted to admit it or not; too much alike in so many ways. At least, they finally had happiness, though. For 500 years, they hadn’t had happiness or a happy ending.
