Summary: Set in 3x16 in the beginning, shortly after everyone finds out that Davina succeeded in bringing Kol back to life. The others are just plain S3, though they’re events I took from VD S5, but Katherine never actually dies. It was dismal night, as a human Katherine entered the courtyard of the compound, going to Kol for help. She assumed where he’d be, since he was just like any Mikaelson, so she entered the parlor. She needed help, having just learned that she was dying of old age. Though she’d never met him before, she felt from his background, that she could trust him better than she could Klaus.
When she entered the parlor, she was right that he was there. He was having a shot glass of Bourbon and seated on the couch, as he did so.
“What can I do for you, darlin’?” he inquired, getting to the point. Seeing that she was a doppelganger, having met Elena before, and knowing that this doppelganger wasn’t Elena, he knew that she had to be the other one. The one he’d heard of throughout his centuries when he hadn’t been daggered by Nik. The famous Katherine Pierce.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this. I hate to admit it, but I need help and I’m assuming from what I’ve heard about you, I can trust you better than I can with Klaus,” she said, getting to the point.
“What is it?” he questioned, though he didn’t know why she was coming to him, instead of his elder brother he knew cared for her. Or so he’d heard in the past. He wasn’t so sure, since Elijah and Gia had been a thing until Nik had compelled her to burn in the sun to make everyone hate him, as to work on his own to take down their aunt last year.
“I’m dying of old age at a rapid pace. Long story. Elena shoved the cure down my throat when I tried to kill her. I was reunited with my long lost daughter Nadia, but then Tyler bit her. She just wanted me happy. She didn’t want me to have to give anything up just to save her life. I wasn’t sure what was happening to me, so I went to a vampire expert who said that time is catching up with me and I can’t be fixed. You know how resilient I am though, so I came here, thinking that maybe there might be a way to save me, despite what a human expert tells me. So, are you going to help me or not?”
“Of course I’ll help you, darlin’. Why wouldn’t I? In case you didn’t hear, I know what it’s like to die. The only difference is that I was hexed and you’re not. I’m a vampire again now, but I do know someone that may be able to find a way to save you. Davina can be resilient herself. She brought me back, no matter what the cost it was that she had to pay to get me back. She kind of owes me, so I can get her to help you out, I’m sure.”
Katherine hadn’t heard of his recent transition into a human and felt sorry for him being hexed to death, but at least he knew somewhat of what she was going through. She was happy to have someone willing to help her. Anyone else that had ever heard of or met her when she was a vampire wouldn’t be so kind. They’d either kill her or shut the door in her face. But Kol…Kol was different. He was like she was.
“Thanks,” she said, thanking him for being willing to help her out.
He finished his shot glass of Bourbon and set it down. Then he got to his feet and walked over to her.
“Anything for a damsel in need, luv,” he said, hoping she didn’t take that defensively. He couldn’t resist helping a girl in need. Not in the present century, anyway. Well, apart from Elena. He never liked her; especially, when she’d helped kill him once. “Let’s go see Davina.”

After their visit with Davina, they went back to the compound. Davina had promised to see if she could find a way to help her; save her life. Katherine was thankful for that. A few weeks after they’d first gone to Davina for help in saving her, she had a heart attack at the bottom of the stairs at the compound. By this time, Kol and Katherine had fallen for one another. Now he stood in the hallway, watching as the doctors there tried to revive her after her heart attack. He hoped that she’d be revived her. She was a fighter and he loved her. He needed her to live. The doctors had succeeded in bringing her back to life, so now she lay in Kol’s bed upstairs in the compound, on bed rest. She was dying with Kol on her bedside.
An hour or two later, Davina found a spell that would reverse and stop the aging, so, in the end, she lived instead of dying, which relieved Kol as well as Katherine. They got their happy ending in the end.
