Matty's been driving for around half an hour, once we got out of town he lit up one of his pre rolled cigarettes and cranked the window down a little asking me if it was okay and whether I was cold.
I smiled over at him telling him that it was his car.

We're driving on an open road away from LA, and I'm trying to guess where we could be going. It's somewhere further out than the place he took me before because I don't even recognise my surroundings.

Matthew extends his hand and offers me the smoke next and I take a pull. Feeling familiar with the minty taste. I inhale slowly and then breathe the smoke out of my window glancing over at him as he drives.

I throw the end of the cigarette out the window and he laughs, feeling every bit the bad boys girlfriend. He's now stroking my thigh, how does he manage that whilst driving. He's in complete control, however him touching me makes me lose all focus and control.

I'm disarmed once again by how perfect he is as he smiles over at me, Mazzy star singing fade into you over the speakers. Matthew cared for me wonderfully after the near miss we had, the time he gave me to decide upon taking the pill or not and the way in which he put me back together after the whole ordeal. I appreciate him for that more than he'll ever know.

I look at him now and my feelings for him have only grown. Of course I find him attractive, I always found him attractive who wouldn't? But there is something more there; the fact he's shared his secrets, confided in me and told me he loves me. I gaze out of the window at the green trees lining the side of our road. And can't help but to think about his green eyes.

This is different. For both of us. I smile as we head past a sign that informs me we are in los Olivos. A place with clear roads and smaller quaint places. I'm in awe already, it looks like a film set. Taken back in time. Apart from the cars everything seems like it has been kept from a time when life was perhaps a little bit more simple.

"When I was young my mum and I visited this place with my dad, not Steve" he tells me. I think idly about his father and what happened to him but I decide to leave that as something for him to share when he feels ready.

After we park up, Matty clasps his hand into mine. I take in the shops and buildings and their small exteriors, it makes me feel at home. They are all local businesses, small places with an artsy look about them. No branded names, no tower blocks.

"This one" he says pointing and directing me to one of the shopfronts. His mouth near my ear as he smiles and kisses my cheek.

"Is destination number one" he smiles and I glance up into his eyes. Taking my hand he makes sure we cross the quiet street safely as he guides me into the shop.

It strikes me that the side of Matthew that I have most wanted to explore is something I will be seeing today. Matthew the artist. The walls although plain have been adorned with various original pieces of art. This is not a shop but a gallery. A place where creativity is celebrated and enjoyed.

Instantly, I pace over to a large print on the far wall. Matthew follows me closely, smiling at my happiness to be here. At my inquisitiveness to go and explore the thing he loves the most. I am in awe of a print of a small child painted in an autumn landscape. The brown, yellows and blues which cannot be described as merely one colour they all seem to merge into different variants and hues. From the wild flowers that spring up from the canvas and the clear azure sky with the white fluffy clouds. A small child and the innocence of his chubby cheeks and dimply hands carefully constructed in the watercolours. His brunette curls, blown in the wind as he plays in the grass.

The owners briefly smile at us gawking at the art, they decide to leave us quietly to have a look around. In a bid to not be intrusive or pushy.

There are several rooms, each showcasing pieces of work from talented painters and sculptures. Local artists, which I encourage him to involve himself with, he complains that his work is nowhere near good enough. I feel he's holding himself back but I smile and reassure him.

There is even an outside garden space between two of the galleries. Filled with roses and flowers and it reminds me of where we went on our first date. I look up at him, he smiles. Intoxicated by my smiles he grins.

"I won't pick one of these flowers babe don't worry" he smiles pushing my hair back and grinning down at me. I kiss him on his lips softly. He pulls me in close by my lower back and I stand on my tip toes gazing up at him waiting for more.

Once we tour the place Matty goes into the artists shop where he looks at the fancy pencils and paints. I love watching him in his element, looking at the canvases and choosing what he wants. After buying some supplies I presume for university we head out.
