With the exorcism finally over, and Tom well and truly erased from my room I finally feel relief. Like he’s not going to show up at my door and try to ingratiate himself back into my life. Strange how he was my very lifeline, a position he abused in my life, yet now I am thriving without him. Should he show up I will handle him in a similar fashion as I did before; however this time I will remain calm and collected. I’m sure with his tail in between his legs however he is gone.

Rhea collected me the following morning, for clothes shopping and a session in growing up and being college girl material. She drove us out to El Paseo shopping district, in her new car. It’s a Chevy and I’m learning a car may well be a good purchase for college when it comes to getting there everyday. It’s something to consider, we don’t have a lot of money, and I hate to burden my mother so it may be worth getting a small job. My mother smiled giving me spending money before our trip, it was a generous amount, and she explained that a girl starting college needs a whole new wardrobe. I still think she’s just happy to see her daughter living again, rather than sitting in wait for somebody to call.

Rhea marched me around every store and boutique, we browsed through the clothes and I picked out a few elegant outfits which are both young enough to look cool, and mature enough not to look babyish. I even purchased a new leather jacket, which is cropped and edgy looking without being try hard. I hope. Rhea clapped as I showed her the items in the changing room, approving of all of my new looks.

“Burgundy, maroon is your colour” she explained whilst I tried on a form fitting dress. We ate some Italian pasta and drank wine, like college girls do. And finished off our day purchasing all of my new makeup, opting for products that will just elevate my natural look rather than change me entirely. Rhea suggested I purchase some new toiletries including a body butter and exfoliant, a bottle of Giorgio Armani perfume called si, which smells divine. It’s not something I would usually spend any money on, but I figure this is a one off and I might as well look and smell the part too.

I wake up in my room on Thursday morning having used my new exfoliant and new skin care routine items the evening before in my en-suite shower. I applied the hair mask too and I consequently wake up with the sleekest mane of hair I’ve ever had. Glancing in the mirror, I’m a far cry from the young girl I was staring at the other day in my reflection. My hair falling to my waist in a controlled frizz free style, my skin prepped and ready for the makeup routine. I briefly think about Matthew and how he would touch me if he were here, how I would kiss his lips and run my fingers through his hair.

His toned chest, broad shoulders leading down to his tight abs. And most importantly his eyes. Emerald green with thick lined lashes. I haven’t stopped thinking about the way he touched me, how he possessed me several times. I’ve never even touched myself in that way before.

My phone vibrates on my old chest of drawers and I reach up to grab it, pulling me away from my fantasies. A message from Rhea explaining that she’ll pick me up by eleven and to be ready, she has instructed me to wear the maroon knit dress and my new jacket. I smile feeling like I have the best girlfriend in the world.

I ask him to collect me at four pm, I’m unsure of how long the drive will be to the place he is taking me too, I add that I cannot wait to see him again. Jogging down the stairs in my slob shorts in pursuit of breakfast. Practically skipping down the wooden steps in our home, strong Californian sun streaming through the window in the hall. The parquet flooring warm from the sun beating through the front door.

Settling for scrambled eggs on toast I begin frying the eggs with my playlist on in the background. Singing along to Maggie Roger’s and dancing around the small kitchen. I’ve always enjoyed cooking with my mum, we make lots of Italian dishes. Food like carbonara, lasagne and arrabatia. She made me an accomplished cook by eighteen, it was her goal.

Having finished seasoning my eggs I plate up all the food wondering if I will ever get to cook for Matthew. And as I eat at the wooden table I think about the dishes I could make him. My feeling is that he is a steak guy. I’m good with frying and I’m sure I could make a peppercorn sauce that would knock his socks off.

Combing out my new silky waves upstairs having finished my makeup and slipped my dress on, apprehensibly waiting for Rhea’s knock on my door. I glance in the mirror and smile; the dress clings around my hips and falls in a relaxed way. I opted for the Victoria’s Secret underwear under the dress, it looks good and gives my body a nice hourglass shape. I team the look with some boots and place the leather jacket over my shoulders. Sling my new bag over my shoulder, looking every bit the hot college girl that I was hoping to be. I spritz si by Armani over myself and place it in my bag to top up later. The door knocks and I smile closing the wardrobe and heading out of the house.
