In the days that follow the weather turns cooler again, the leaves rustle and fall from the trees, the sun colouring them gold in its weak light. We see out the final glimpse of summer together at Matthew's house, our home. The long garden out in the back yard with its various trees and plants leads to a fire pit where one evening we decide to have our own little bonfire. I stand with his hand in my own, wearing my burgundy skirt as we roast marshmallows and watch the smoke rise up into the inky night sky.

Matthew is the perfect gentlemen, and the perfect companion to be around. We stocked the cupboards together and I cooked him various meals; all of which he enjoyed. Especially my steak with peppercorn sauce and the pancakes I made for him the morning after we spent all night watching movies in front of the fire. Matthew makes everything special. Always kissing me and holding me and paying me attention, I couldn't imagine not seeing the green of his eyes and the curve of his smile. I could not imagine a life where I don’t lay with him by the fire or cooking together every single night.

Matthew has been focusing on his art, and his mystery surprise picture that I have been trying to get a glimpse of. Often he will sit out on the porch look out into the trees surrounding our place before turning back to his canvas and delineating new marks with pencils. Rubbing the page to create shadow and inspecting it to make it perfect. It's leading to me believe that his drawing is an autumnal landscape.

As a couple we visited my mother's to spend the evening with her. My once familiar old home seemed small in comparison to the life I now live with Matthew. He embraced my mother and she smiled up at his gorgeous brunette locks telling him to look after me. Tears were wept as we carried the last of my clothing from my small bedroom out to the 4x4. Rolling up the sleeves to his cream jumper he started up the car and asked me if I was ready.

I wiped my eyes and held onto his hand telling him that I was more than ready to start a life with him, my next chapter in my life. Everything is set, we are stronger than ever. Nothing can ruin us. And now all of my clothes are in the drawers, I have all of my makeup and home comforts. Yet I'm still wearing Matty's clothes at any opportunity I get. I love how they smell of him; how they engulf my body and more importantly how he continually pulls me in when I'm wearing one of his jumpers to keep warm.

Living in our own little bubble is like permanent heaven for me. I finally feel like everything is sorted out. We have a joint interest in each other's futures and I'm excited for both of us.

Placing my robe on and rolling curlers in my hair I sit by the dresser and focus on my makeup. Creating a similar look to the one I achieved the other day for our double date I smile as he looks at me with the curlers in my hair snickering. I spritz myself with perfume and shimmer spray.
