So I literally just spilled my guts out. But this feels like it's going well. She's kissing me with her tongue in my mouth and tears are falling down her perfect cheeks. I stood up to comfort her as she began crying. Now I’m just leaning into her over her chair transfixed by her mouth. I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. I know who it will be but I no longer care about him. Nobody can break what we have.

She breaks away from the kiss. Here we go. I look at her keeping her eye contact. Moving back to my seat and sipping my own wine, just one glass. How I’ve grown since my brandy binges.

“When you took me out for this first time I knew I had made up my mind about you. And since then the way I feel has only intensified. Pulling her phone out from her Barbour jacket, she begins texting Rhea, a smile playing on her lips. Placing her phone on the glass table she looks up at me, her head resting on her hands as she looks into my eyes.

Before we approach the car there is one more place I would like to take her. My main surprise of the day. I've never bought anything for a girl ever, but I'm determined to get something from this place for her to remember it by. Something that she can gaze at thinking we got this on the day that we became who we are to each other.

I gently pull her to a stop outside the glittering jewellers. She ogles at a blue sapphire ring in the window. I can tell she's taken with it. The deep blue sapphire is matched with two silver ones either side and held on a silver band. It's so her, feminine and beautiful yet different. Placing my arms around her waist I whisper in her ear.

I usher her into the shop. She says she doesn't want to look at any other pieces. She's taken with that one ring and I find myself hoping it fits her.
The lady behind the counter carefully retrieves the ring from the window. We both gaze at it sitting in its box. I take it out carefully and face her. She hands me her right hand and I place it on her index finger. It of course fits her perfectly. It suits her and she is smiling down at it gleefully.

"Think of it as an eternity ring" I tell her.
She looks up at me away from the ring for a second. I feel so self conscious. I've not ever done this before, am I doing it right? I don't want to scare her off now.

Who knows maybe someday we'll return here for our own engagement rings. I don't say that to her just yet. That would be scaring her off wouldn’t it. It's nearly 4pm now and I'm going to drive us straight to her mums. It will be nice for her to see her mother again, plus I wouldn’t want her mum to think that I’m holding her captive.

‘Crazy for you’ by Madonna starts up and she laughs clapping her hands with my ring on them. I sing to her, on a high. She joins in at the chorus, singing along with me. Oh how the lyrics fit our relationship perfectly.

All of our stuff is in the boot from earlier, I plan to get started on my drawing of her as soon as I can stop touching her for any given amount of time. I didn't tell her I was going to draw her, I figure it will be a nice surprise when it's finished.
