I gaze down at the pale white skirt of my dress watching the sunlight play on it reminding me that spring is very much here. Feeling the light breeze working its way into the car and sending my hair back over my shoulder. I look out at the trees we are passing, eager to see the familiar lake on our horizon. Our place, our secret house, the place where we will make our future.

Jay has put some music on and he's smoking a cigarette out the window his arm resting on the side of his door. The truck is much heavier on our way back loaded with my things and the new BBQ. I'm going to give the keys back tomorrow and be done with my little single dorm room that gave me space and independence for a short time.

I glance over at him, his shirt off and his blonde hair tied in a knot whilst he cruises the truck all the way down the open road. In many ways we have grown up together over the last three years. His blonde hair slightly lighter than the first time I saw him as he barged through Matthew's living room door to meet me. My eyes met his and he laid on the charm instantly, I batted away his advances sure that I had everything I needed in Matthew. Sure that Matthew had been my forever. But in reality I was still trying to work out what I wanted. Jay showed me what I needed in my life, time and time again, I tried to deny him and push him out but he persisted and now we're here cruising down the freeway in the sun, wind blowing through our hair on the way to officially move in together.

"Well with your cooking" he smiles over at me and I imagine us doing all of the things new couples do, cooking for each other, hosting parties and having our friends over. Eventually having babies and getting married.

"I'm going to take care of you" I smile. And I mean it. I'm going to be the kind of girlfriend that makes sure her partner is happy and secure. I could have been better previously in my relationships and it's definitely something that I want to work on. I realise that I must be watching him intently because he eyes me skeptically.

I know we're near when out of my passenger window I can see the lake flowing past, the road is elevated with a dense forest on Jays side.

He parks in the garage and I suddenly remember all of the stuff we've got to lift to get into the house. He walks me in holding a few boxes which he puts upstairs for me to start organising. I linger in front of him before he leaves. He cups my jaw in his hand and kisses me. One hand travelling up my thigh.

"I'm coming back" he whispers, kisses me again before leaving to retrieve the rest of the stuff. I begin sorting through all of my things placing my jewellery into a small box on my dresser, eyeing my engagement ring from Matthew deep down in the box before I close the lid and set upon hanging up my clothes in the large walk in closet.

"I've got everything else in" Jay smiles placing the remaining boxes down. I take in his muscular frame and sigh, he’s unimaginably muscular.

"Fancy dinner" he asks nicely as I smile up at him closing the distance between us and kneeling down in front of him immediately. I undo his jeans slowly keeping his eye contact as he smiles. Pleasing him and making him feel secure starts here. With his hands in my hair I pull his jeans down before rubbing him a little first and he sighs. I begin kissing him down there before taking him in my mouth.

I sigh looking at him, blue eyes that I once could have sworn were cold and calculating now replaced by eyes that hold happiness, joy and love.
