Joshua Morelli is currently on the track, in his tank and joggers and he is keeping up an impressive pace often lapping others who are struggling to make it round.

I'm not sure I've ever visited the sports track before I would have seen it on an open day, but that seems like a lifetime ago. The sun is beginning to set yet the air is still warm. I'm wearing my sunglasses, because the light is at that annoying level where it shoots into your retina every time you look into the distance.

Jay commented that I looked like a model today which made me laugh, my hair is out loose and sways all the way down my back and I've applied some lipstick and blush. I'm wearing my short denim skirt and the maroon brandy Melville crop top that I never returned to Rhea with a cream loose cardigan and converse. Jay pulled me into his arms and kissed my neck and shoulders breathing me in before getting in the car this morning.

"You've caught the sun" he said smiling and eyeing me up. Little does he know I've have had a little help from my fake tan, to push it along the way. I think about him continuously, there is no break in how I feel about him even around others.

I go and sit on the seats around the track soaking up the rest of the afternoon sun. Briefly getting out my phone to check it. I've a few messages which I browse through, the ones from Jay make me chuckle. I reply to him before I get distracted. We've been playing a game whereby I try and guess where he's taking me on our surprise trip. The truth is I just want to be with him, just Jay and nobody else. I don't mind where we are as long as we are together.

Just as I look up at the track I lose all sight of Josh and sigh, maybe he's headed straight to the lockers. After all I did not alert him to our impromptu chat, I don't have his number and so I just figured I'd turn up and see if he was here. In other words I didn't think it through. Gazing back down at my phone I lock it to a screensaver of myself and Jay by the lake and smile. His hands around my waist and his lips on my cheek.

"Taylor" a male voice interrupts, I realise that it’s Joshua by his slight accent. I look directly in front of me through my glasses and see him strolling up the steps to sit with me. Josh makes light work of the steps taking two or three at a time to speed up the process.

"Joshua I actually came by to see you" I begin, he wears an easy smile draped across his face as he sits with me.

"Okay okay. Enough. I actually came by to say thank you" I admit staring up at him. He takes my wrist in my hand instantly remembering. He has a look inspecting it and I feel his warm fingers go around my joints.

"I didn't have chance to thank you on that night but I am grateful for what you did for both me and also stopping Jay and pulling him off of Tom. If you hadn't my arm would have been worse and I might not have been able to dance and well Jay would have beaten the absolute crap out of Tom" I sigh placing my phone in my bag.

I watch his face and then look down at his chest and arms shying away from his eye contact. Unlike myself Joshua's tan is all very much his, I can see that from his tan lines on his upper arms around his pecs. I avert my eyes again.

"Taylor" he says smiling at me. The way he says my name commands me to look back at his face.

He smoothes an elegant smile back on his face and I look down again at his wrists where he has a small bracelet with a cross on it.

"I did that because it was the right thing to do. Nobody ever deserves to be spoken to and touched liked that, I didn't like it and I sorted it." He says looking out to the field placing a hand up to shield his eyes from the sun. He has a cross tattoo, a small and delicate looking design over his forearm which I hadn’t noticed before. I briefly wonder whether he may be a Christian as I stare forward.

"You're kind of a big deal. I mean you did realise that right?" He sighs looking down at me and I stare up at him, the sun allowing his brunette hair to shine.

"No" I say taken aback as he laughs fully, head swinging back. He takes his jersey top off and I sigh. Allowing my eyes to roll as he looks down at me again.

"You know, he talks about you a lot. I've never ever seen him like that with any girl. Like he really fucking loves you Taylor. And forgive me if I'm wrong or out of place here but I see the way other guys look at you and I'm not always going to be about to either pull them off of you or pull Jay off of them" he laughs.

If Joshua had been my older brother I would have been happy and I would have been so protected. Impulsively I hug him, throwing my arms around him and he laughs.

Taking the lead, he progresses down the ramps as the sun falls underneath the horizon line and I consider him thanked for his kindness. Everybody stares at him as we walk past other students I assume that’s why he’s so confident and sure of himself. A group of girls snicker at his bare chest and it only makes him more full of himself.

"Well this is me" he says pulling me into a bear hug just outside of the changing rooms. I laugh and tell him I'll see him at the party on Thursday.
