A few days after the tragic deaths of Hannah Calabasas and her boyfriend Nick, Leo was slowly starting to come out of her depressive funk. She still felt really bad about what she had said to Hannah before she passed away but she knew it wasn’t healthy to keep wallowing about it. She was, however, very grateful to have such great friends, a loving daughter and a wonderful husband to be there for her to support her.

“ Ok.”, Leo said as she rushed off to pack some of her things. Sheldon called all of them off of work and he told Principal Rutherman that he was going to be pulling Cayela and her best friend Florence out of school for a few days after he got permission from Florence’s parents to do so. After the gang all met up with each other outside the apartment complex in the parking lot they all drove in separate cars to the airport. They then left their cars parked in the airport parking lot and walked inside together. Oreo and Cinnamon both had to go under the seats in small pet carriers but that didn’t matter. During the flight to Savannah, Leo kept trying to fall asleep but was having difficulty doing so. For some reason she couldn’t seem to turn her mind off to where she could achieve a REM cycle and this concerned Sheldon. Once they all landed in Savannah and arrived at Leo’s family’s home Sheldon looked at his wife and said, “ Leo you don’t look too good.” in concern.

Leo wanted to apologize to her earlier that day before it happened but the call wouldn’t go through because Hannah apparently blocked her and didn’t want to hear anything else from her. So basically she died knowing that Leo said that to her and Leo feels really guilty about it.”, Amy sadly said.

“ Let’s hope so.”, Mrs. Fordyce said. They all sat around and continued to talk to each other and then Leo eventually joined them after a few hours. Over the next few days of them staying there things seemed to be slowly getting back on track. Leo still had guilty feelings but she began to find it more easier to deal with. She beginning to think that her husband was right about being around her family would make her feel better but just as things were beginning to get back to normal something very bizarre happened. One morning Cayela woke up and noticed that her body was feeling a little bit hot.

Red flags immediately started going off for Bernadette. She was beginning to put two and two together because she had heard about this virus before through the years of her work as a microbiologist.

“ Ok I think I know exactly what’s going on here. Let me just run a test first.”, Bernadette said in concern as she left the room for a moment and came back wearing some latex gloves and a face mask. In her hands she had a thermometer and two cotton swabs. She first scanned the girls heads with the thermometer and looked at the results. Both of the girls had a temperature reading of 103.7 degrees farenheit.

“ Ok you two definitely have a fever which is not good. Now let me swab your mouths for a second.”, Bernadette said in concern as she then grabbed the two cotton swabs and used one for each of them. Then after she got a sample she then took the two samples into the home office down the hallway. She liquified the cotton swab samples with special chemical compounds before she took an eyedropper and dropped a single drop for both girls into a special scanner that she had set up in the office. When the results of the tests came back Bernadette interjected, “ Oh my god, lock down this entire house right now! Get the plastic sheeting, get disinfectants out, get everything now! This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill” Everyone just froze as a warning alarm was suddenly set off.

He changed Cayela’s diaper as she was sitting on the bed before he replaced his latex gloves with new ones. Then both the girls’ hands were squirted with Purell which they immediately rubbed their hands with.

Both girls settled under the covers closing their eyes and yawned as the story started. As the girls were sleeping while listening to the story Sheldon quietly came back into the room with Cayela’s diaper bag and something else. Cayela started making moaning noises in her sleep as her father was changing her diaper but the noises immediatedly stopped once he was done and he carefully tucked her back in without waking her up. Then he picked up the other thing that he had carried in there off the floor into his arms. After some convincing from his wife, Sheldon decided to allow Oreo to stay in the room with the girls after he outfitted her with a kitty sized hazmat suit. He gently placed the cat down on the bed by Cayela’s sleeping face and stood there for a moment to see what Oreo was going to do. At first Oreo was a little confused because she wasn’t what this thing was that was surrounding her body but then once she saw Cayela’s face through the plastic protective screen of the suit she was wearing she flopped right down and curled up right next to Cayela falling asleep. A soft smile began to spread across Sheldon’s face as he gently ran his latex covered hand and fingers through his daughter’s beautiful, soft hair. Even though he was worried about her being sick at the moment he still loved her very much. He still couldn’t believe that this beautiful little 14 year old girl was what him and his wife had created together and brought into this world shortly after they had gotten married. Sure Cayela was special needs, had to wear diapers and was a little rebellious at times just like any other teenager would be but Sheldon really didn’t care about that. He was just happy to be a father period and despite his atheist mindset he so blessed to have a child in his life that was from his own blood. He was also very thankful for the friends that Cayela was able to make after struggling to communicate with others for 13 years of her life. He wasn’t quite happy with Charlotte at first after Cayela made friends with Florence but then once Charlotte flipped her attitude around and befriended Cayela he started to slowly warm up to her. Sheldon surprisingly got even more happy when his daughter’s friendship circle slowly started to grow from 2 friends to 3, 4, 5 then 6 and suddenly a boyfriend as well. One hand the thought of his autistic daughter having a boyfriend kind of freaked him out but on the other hand he was happy about it. He was happy that there was at least one boy that loved her as much as he did despite the fact that she couldn’t ever fix her bladder and bowel functions. Since the day him and Leo met Kirby and eventually got to meet his family they really got a good picture of him. They thought that he was a very nice boy and that he was a perfect match for their daughter. Kirby was very respectful to them as well as his own parents and they had a really good feeling that this might eventually lead to something in the future despite the fact that he’s only Cayela’s first relationship that she’s ever had. He then leaned over and gently kissed her head through the plastic screen of his suit before he left the room. 2 weeks later the girls tested negative for the virus and were allowed to leave the room. The first thing that Cayela did after she hugged Oreo was that she went over to Kirby’s aunt’s house and the moment the two of them saw each other they grabbed each other into a tight embrace and then they kissed each other while standing on his aunt’s front porch. Then the very next week they all went back to California. It was around this time that Arista began to notice that her mother’s sad feelings began to suddenly disappear. She began to notice that her mother was listening to romance songs and reading a lot of romance novels as well which was very odd because she had never seen her do that before. Arista began to wonder what was going on in her mother’s life that would make her want to do these things but the answer became very clear on night when Arista was sitting on her bed in her room watching tv. Her mother suddenly came in with her hair done up in a pretty, nice tight bun. After Arista ordered a medium sized deep dish pepperoni and bacon pizza, an order of breadsticks and a 2 liter Diet Coke she went into her mother’s room and counted out the amount she needed to pay for her order plus the tip for the pizza guy when he shows up. 40 minutes later her order arrived and she handed the pizza guy the money before she took the food to her room after she had grabbed a plate and a glass from the kitchen. She took three slices of the pizza, a few breadsticks with the pizza sauce and poured herself some soda before putting the rest of the food away in the kitchen fridge. She happily ate her food while watching tv and when she was finished she cleaned up the mess before heading to the bathroom to take a shower. Arista was already in bed sleeping by the time her mother returned home at exactly 10 o’clock like she said she would. Mrs. Stormbender quietly entered the house and walked toward her daughter’s bedroom to find Arista sleeping soundly in her bed. She smiled at this before heading to bed herself. Over the next couple weeks Mrs. Stormbender went on a few more dates with Alvin and each time she came back from them she was happier than ever. Because of this Arista begged her mother to introduce her to him so she could find out what he was like and get to know him. Her wish was granted one evening when her mother was making dinner and saw her setting the table for more than two people. “ No but we’ve heard about it!”, Raciella laughed. The girls chatted, laughed and listened to music until Alvin decided he was ready to leave. Once they got back in their car to drive home Raciella and Blaze kept talking non-stop to their father about how much fun they had while Dexter just shouted at them telling them to shut up. When they got home and walked into the house Dexter decided that he didn’t want to talk anymore that night and went to bed early. Shortly after Alvin and the girls went to bed Blaze woke up in the middle of the night. She sat up in her bed looking a little sad as she let out a sigh. Raciella heard this and sat up in her bed that was on the opposite side of the room that they shared together.

“ I do too.”, Raciella sadly said as she got up walked over to her sister’s bed, sat down next to her and hugged her. They sat like that in silence for a moment as a tear silently slid down both of their faces. It made them a little sad to think that their once nice and happy older brother suddenly turned into this negative angry person who was rude and somewhat anti-social when he never used to be any of those things in the first place. They could tell that he was suffering through something but they didn’t know what it was and they were afraid to find out. After they held each other for a few moments they went back to bed. The next day Arista was hanging out with her friends at Robbie’s house. She told them everything about what happened the night before and they chatted about it for hours on end. At first Cayela, Florence, Charlotte, Summer, Julia and Robbie all thought the story was kind of cheesey but they were happy for their friend despite hearing about how her mother’s boyfriend’s son acted that night toward them and even his own father and sisters. Florence reassured her that Dexter was probably just having a rough night and may be in a better mood next time she sees him. This calmed Arista down some but her head was still filled with thoughts of uncertainty.
