約頓姿態輕鬆地走在一條寬敞的走廊上，就在即將完工的「要塞」內部。
眨眼，距離哈敦峽谷被攻擊已經過了兩年半，曾經遭逢重創的聚落再次復甦，甚至發展為規模更加龐大的「市鎮」。人們開始把這種地方稱為「衛城（Citadel）」，而非單純的聚落。
幾名年輕的操殼師出現在走廊的另一頭，舉起手向他行禮。「長官。」
約頓點點頭，微笑。
當初的居民們聽從杜斯塔夫的建議成立了新的操殼師部隊，一如他們曾在旱海基地實行過的方式。透過電波訊號與操殼師的配合，開始一一除掉地表活動的星獸。
不過，不光是這幾個地方。短短兩年的時間裡，杜斯塔夫跑遍了各式各樣的聚落。更多的倖存者在地面上建立家園，也有更多錫爾星人穿上操殼囊，成為操殼師。
聽說他們甚至不再稱呼自己為班多里恩，而是「星防（Star Defence Alliance）」，因為他們已經不再孤身反抗那些入侵的怪物。
約頓在一扇門前停下腳步。那是一間房間，屬於他的房間。他推開門，進到房內。裡頭只有一張雙人床、一只衣櫃，以及一張桌子，樸素，卻備感溫馨。
他來到桌邊，桌上有一只泛黃的信封。儘管書信投遞在這年頭相當困難，歷經一波三折後，那封信依舊輾轉來到了他的手上。
他坐下，拆開信封，開始讀信——
親愛的約頓，我的朋友：
Dear Jotuun, my dearest friend,
但願這封信已經平安抵達你的手裡。在我向你揭露我的身份之前，也許，你會想先聽聽我的故事……
I hope this letter has arrived safely to your hands. Before I reveal my identity, perhaps you would like to hear about my story.
多年以前，我曾虔心立誓，要捍衛世間弱小；我曾許下諾言，要嚴懲世上罪惡。直到那些怪物，在我們的頭頂現身。
Years ago, I made a promise to defend the powerless. I made an oath to punish all evils. Until one day, those monsters appeared from above our heads.
當文明秩序淪陷，善與惡界線也開始模糊難辨。人民流離失所，而我的正義和良心亦然。
When the civilization collapsed, the line between good and evil blurred. Millions of people lost their homes, and the same happened to my justice and conscience.
