Hung Yu Fei’s body cut across the air at shocking speed. She caught up to Wun Fan in the blink of an eye.
“Kid, the girl is catching up to you,” Old Lei’s voice rang out as he reminded Wun Fan. Wun Fan was busy riding his horse and had no time to look back. He never expected Hung Yu Fei to be so fast when she was just a Martial Vassal. He pinched the horse harder with his thighs. The horse felt pain and ran even faster, cutting across the green plains like a streaking white shadow.
Just then, Hung Yu Fei landed slowly on Wun Fan’s horse like a drifting feather and sat down behind him. She placed a hand on Wun Fan’s head and smiled smugly as she said, “Hehe. You can’t slip through fingers.”
Wun Fan immediately pulled the reins when he felt someone behind him. The horse reared its front legs and came to a stop, almost throwing Hung Yu Fei off of it in the process. Wun Fan turned around in surprise. He tried his best to suppress his anger and took a deep breath. With the last of his reason, he said, “Lady, may I ask why you keep chasing after me?”
“Aren’t you going to Green Sea Forest? I want to go too!” said Hung Yu Fei, her eyes gleaming with excitement. She batted her eyelids at Wun Fan like a girl begging his father to buy a toy for her.
“No way,” refused Wun Fan firmly. His eyes were determined and there was a faint hint of killing intent behind them as he stared at Hung Yu Fei. Was this a joke? This girl was so capricious and childish. If she were to follow him, he might get dragged into all sorts of trouble. He was out here to train, not to play. If he had a burden following him around, what was he supposed to do when they ran into danger?
For a moment, Wun Fan even considered borrowing Old Lei’s strength to finish off this girl. Soul energy secretly started flowing through his body as an aura of death slowly emanated from within him.
“You’re just a kid. What’s with the scary look?” said Hung Yu Fei, planning to give Wun Fan a scolding for his attitude. However, as she stared into his ill-meaning eyes, a memory came to mind. She clapped her hands together and shouted, “That’s the feeling! That’s the feeling I got right before Reddie went berserk. So it was you!”
Wun Fan never expected Hung Yu Fei to suddenly levy an accusation at him. He was stunned and didn’t know how to respond. The threatening air he had been building up vanished in an instant.
“Mm, well…about that…” said Wun Fan as he scratched his head. This was the first time he felt so guilty about anything since he came to Heaven’s Martial World. He didn’t even dare to look at Hung Yu Fei as he blushed and stuttered.
“Heh,” said Hung Yu Fei. She rolled her eyes as she thought for a moment, revealing the whites of her eyes. She then smiled mischievously as she said, “If you don’t bring me to Green Sea Forest, I will go complain to my uncle in Green Sea Town. You’re from the Wun Clan, so it shouldn’t be that difficult to find you, right?”
Her words had struck Wun Fan in his weak spot. This girl was already so difficult to deal with in the short time they had interacted. He wanted absolutely no more trouble with her. For a moment, Wun Fan lamented his misfortune for running into a crazy girl so soon after he started his journey.
Moreover, there was no way he could dispute Hung Yu Fei’s accusations when it was true.
“Oh, right! I mean it when I say I want you to bring me all the way to Green Sea Town, so don’t pull any tricks!” said Hung Yu Fei. She had zero plans to go to Green Sea Town after hearing that Wun Fan was heading for Green Sea Forest. This was the perfect opportunity to go adventuring in Green Sea Forest.
Thus, at this moment, Hung Yu Fei would have used any excuse to force Wun Fan to bring her there, even if she had a horse to ride to Green Sea Town.
Meanwhile, Wun Fan was having a headache. He had no idea how to deal with Hung Yu Fei, someone he couldn’t kill or beat in a fight. If it had been him from his past life, he would have already been generous enough to give her a free trip to heaven.
However, he had a family in this life. There were a lot of instances and a lot of times when he had to act carefully.
It was common for family members and associates to be punished or hunted down for one man’s transgressions in Heaven’s Martial World. It was very similar to the culture in Japan from his past life. Even if you killed yourself by jumping onto the railway, your parents would have to bear the losses inflicted on the railway company.
Your death wasn’t the end of things.
You would simply be shifting all the responsibility, pain and suffering onto someone else. As such, suicide was pointless. It was better to find a way to deal with your problems. No matter how difficult the situation was, it would all be bearable if you had someone by your side.
Persisting no matter how difficult things became. This was the principle that Wun Fan lived by.
Wun Fan looked defeated. He truly didn’t know what to do. He quickly explained to Old Lei, “Old Lei, I’ll bring her with me to Green Sea Forest. Once we’re there, I’ll drop her off and never see her again.”
“Mm,” said Old Lei. He didn’t judge Wun Fan for his actions at all. If he had run into a troublesome girl like this as a teenager himself, he would have either killed her or slept with her. The former would mean drawing blood; the latter would mean drawing blood and leaving a little something behind.
However, Old Lei didn’t intend to intervene in Wun Fan’s training journey this time. After all, Wun Fan had to accumulate experience on his own. It was only through his own experience that he could learn, reflect and grow.
An overly sheltered child would only end up as a pretty, but fragile vase.
Wun Fan looked at Hung Yu Fei resentfully as he said with a reluctant expression, “Get away from me once we reach the outermost outskirts of Green Sea Forest.”
“If you can give me a horse, I’ll leave right this very moment,” said Hung Yu Fei. She lifted an eyebrow and put on a mocking smile as she said, “I promise.”
Wun Fan’s nostrils flared as he took a deep, deep breath to calm himself down. Finally, he said, “You’re good. I’ll remember this.”
“I’m sure you’ll remember me,” said Hung Yu Fei as she tilted her head and flicked her hair. She took out a water bag and took a big swig from it. She then wiped her mouth with her sleeve with a satisfying sigh.
She saw Wun Fan looking at her and flashed a cute smile back at him. However, in Wun Fan’s eyes, it was an evil, wretched smile she had.235Please respect copyright.PENANAzsQZjXAd2M
“I want to take a break,” said the unreasonably and selfish girl once again. She had said the same thing three times now. She wanted a break every hour and every break took nearly an hour itself. Wun Fan had to beg and plead and scream for her to finally get back on the road.
Exactly what kind of horrible deeds did he do to deserve this punishment?
It would be lying to say that the white horse wasn’t affected by having an additional passenger. At the very least, its breathing was much more ragged than before and it was also running slightly slower.
“Another break?” said Wun Fan angrily. His rage had almost turned into a physical flame that threatened to blast out of his eyes and burn this woman to ashes. He couldn’t hold back his anger anymore and started shouting, “You want a break every hour! Can’t you see that it’s almost sunset?”
Wun Fan did a rough calculation of their travelling time and figured that it was almost five in the evening now. It was getting dark.
“So?” said Hung Yu Fei as she clasped her back. Her muscles were sore. She wasn’t used to riding on a horse for so long. Riding on a carriage had been much more comfortable.
However, at the thought of being able to go adventure in Green Sea Forest, away from her clan’s protection for the first time, Hung Yu Fei’s mood was sweetened in an instant. She put her hands on her hip and laughed out loud. She was even fantasizing about her adventures in the forest; challenging tigers, slaughtering wolves and battling formidable foes. The day she emerged from Green Sea Forest would be the day she became stronger.
“It’s almost dark and we still haven’t made it to the outermost outskirts of Green Sea Forest. Where do you think we are supposed to rest for the night?” said Wun Fan. He was so angry, he had turned all the way around and started laughing instead. Soul energy surged within his body. He swore to himself he would call on Old Lei to blast this girl into smithereens if she couldn’t come up with a reasonable suggestion.
“Little boy, don’t forget, you’re the one who scared my Reddie away,” said Hung Yu Fei as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. She puffed out her chest confidently. She was in the right and there was no way she could lose this argument. She had seen through Wun Fan a long time ago. As long as she was the one in the right, there was no way Wun Fan could talk back to her. He could only slink away like a dog with its tail between its legs.
Wun Fan’s fighting spirit left him like the air leaves a deflated balloon when he heard Hung Yu Fei’s words. He couldn’t retaliate at all. He sighed and waved his hand weakly, “Mm. Do as you wish.”
“Heh,” said Hung Yu Fei as she smiled smugly. She took out her water bag and took another drink. After all, riding so fast and so long on a horse meant that she was constantly being exposed to the cold wind. Her throat and nose felt really dry after all that. It was uncomfortable.
She walked around as she drank from the water bag, kicking the snow under her feet as she did so. She behaved just like a kid. Suddenly, she saw a road sign buried under the snow. She would have missed it if it wasn’t for her sharp eyesight. She lowered herself and saw the words on the sign.
