044 Hundred Treasures Hall (Cont.)
Knock knock. Knocking came from the door, followed by the sweet voice of a young girl, who respectfully said, “Miss, Siu Ji has something to report.”
“Come in,” Chan Chi Yuet’s voice was sweet and melodious, like a rare and elegant orchid in the middle of a barren valley. It was soft and enticing, enough to make anyone who heard her wish she kept speaking.
A silhouette in green pushed the door open and entered the room. The girl had pretty features and looked immature, but not childish. Siu Ji bowed after closing the door and continued with her report, “Miss, our informants have reported that Wun Fan, the third young master of the Wun Clan, has arrived in the market and is looking for a set of herbs. These include ten-year-old treehearts and giant purplebee honey. It seems like he is heading for the Hundred Treasures Hall now. He is accompanied by fourth young mistress Wun Siu Lan and Supervisor Wun Tung.”
“Ah, third young master of the Wun Clan. I heard about the commotion he caused yesterday, as well as the injuries he sustained. I’m surprised he’s able to get off his bed and walk around,” Chan Chi Yuet put her brush down when she heard the news. She rubbed her forehead with her slender fingers in silence as she considered the information. She then said to herself, “He’s looking for herbs, which include ten-year-old treehearts and giant purplebee honey?”
Siu Ji said nothing and waited silently by the side. She even made sure to keep her breathing as quiet as possible. Her chest barely moved. She knew that her mistress liked thinking in silence.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The only sound was the tip-tapping of the bronze waterdrop bird ornament in the room.
Tip. Tap. Tip. Tap. Time passed with every drop of water. Chan Chi Yuet’s eyes were closed in deep thought. Siu Ji couldn’t help but stare at her. Chan Chi Yuet might be a woman, but Siu Ji was still attracted by her striking figure in contemplation.
“Siu Ji,” Chan Chi Yuet suddenly opened her eyes and locked eyes with Siu Ji. Siu Ji blushed at this. Chan Chi Yuet continued, “Apart from these two things, has the third young master also purchased half-century black angelica, aconite root, southyellows, sap from a thirty-year-old liquidambar, redpitch fruits, undeath worms, sweetscent fruits, red skullcaps, blue echeveria, and the gallbladder of a blue-spotted snake?”
Surprise was written all over Siu Ji’s face. She looked at Chan Chi Yuet in admiration as she said, “You got everything right, miss. How did you know?”
“Heheh, very interesting, this third young master of the Wun Clan,” Chan Chi Yuet tapped the wooden table lightly with her finger as her mind continued working at tremendous speeds. After a short moment, she explained, “The Grade Six Pill of Meridian Fortification is one of the very few pills whose primary purpose is mending the meridians. Even back in the capital, there are only a few alchemists who know the ingredients of this pill, let alone the method to synthesize it. Ten-year-old treehearts and giant purplebee honey also have drastically different medical effects. For the two of them to be used in the same pill formula is very unusual. I have not heard of any other instances of this apart from the Pill of Meridian Fortification.”
“So what you mean, miss, is that the Wun Clan has an alchemist that is capable of concocting a Pill of Meridian Fortification and they’ve sent the third young master to come to purchase the ingredients?” Siu Ji wasn’t an idiot. Someone who could serve beside someone as intelligent as Chan Chi Yuet couldn’t possibly be mediocre.
“No, there are too many things unusual about his behavior. First of all, it is nearly impossible to find half-century black angelica and redpitch fruits in the market. Secondly, if the Wun Clan truly has an alchemist capable of concocting Grade Six pills, how is it that no one knows about them at all? Lastly, if a Grade Six alchemist really did want to collect ingredients for a pill, why would they send the third young master of the Wun Clan to do it for them?”
Truly a strange situation!
Siu Ji quickly and meekly added, “Miss, while they couldn’t find half-century black angelica or redpitch fruits, they bought quite a lot of seeds for those herbs.”
“Seeds?” Chan Chi Yuet’s frown was even deeper now. He was suddenly interested in this third young master of the Wun Clan. His martial realm had been stuck at sixth-level Martial Disciple for nearly three years now and yet, he was suddenly able to win against numerous Martial Mortals in a fight. Now, he was suddenly collecting the ingredients needed for a Grade Six Pill, some of which he only needed the seeds of.
Chan Chi Yuet’s curiosity had been piqued by Wun Fan. He couldn’t help but want to get to know how this Mr. Level Six, this infamous cripple, had suddenly become so active.
“Siu Ji,” Chan Chi Yuet put her brush down and cracked her fingers. She massaged her stiff shoulders slightly as she gave her instructions, “Prepare the honey and the treeheart for me. I will go and meet this third young master once I have changed.”
“Yes, miss,” having said that, Siu Ji pushed the door open and said something to the guard waiting outside. She then returned to the room and helped Chan Chi Yuet pick out something to wear. She helped her take off her clothes, revealing the pink underwear she wore below. Her flawless alabaster shoulder was exposed in the air, her snowy skin glowing healthily under the sunlight spilling through the window.
Siu Ji couldn’t help but blush again. She was almost moved by the beautiful sight of her mistress’s body, no matter how many times she saw it. It was beautiful as the moon itself.
Just like her name, Chan Chi Yuet was truly like the moon.
Beauty filled the entire room.320Please respect copyright.PENANADzFhP1haPu
Wun Fan, Wun Siu Lan, and Wun Tung walked pretty fast. They had already arrived outside the Hundred Treasures Hall. They were not in a hurry to enter, however. Wun Fan stood outside the doors and admired the layout of the Hundred Treasures Hall.
Wun Fan couldn’t help but be impressed. The Hundred Treasures Hall was arranged like the supermarkets from his previous life.
Typically, the usual store in the Wun Market used signboards to display the products on sale. For instance, a pill shop would keep all its pills in its cabinets. It was only when a customer inquired about the prices or explained what they were looking for that the proprietor would take out the pill and show it to them while explaining the price.
This resulted in non-transparent pricing, preventing the customer from making the best decision, which often resulted in price wars. It also caused certain proprietors to take advantage of their customers, quoting exorbitant prices and making a killing off of less-informed martial artists.
The Hundred Treasures Hall in Green Sea Town, on the other hand, completely upended these outdated methods of sales.
The Hundred Treasures Hall was over twenty-thousand square feet large and made full use of its large area. The decorations used were simple but grand. There were not a lot of ornaments. The place didn’t look lavish, but it was obvious that the design was tailored and tasteful. A suspended ceiling design was used to make the store look even more spacious and a skylight had been installed out of a large crystal at the highest point to improve the lighting, making the store bright and well-lit.
The items in the store were systematically arranged on different shelves and the category of the products would be displayed at the top of each shelf. They were broad categories such as pills, herbs, and weapons, with even more specific divisions for the pills into their different use purposes, such as external injuries, internal injuries, and recovery.
Moreover, the prices were listed right beneath the products, making it easy to understand. Lanterns would be placed around the more expensive and valuable products, illuminating them and drawing the customers' attention.
The entire arrangement reminded Wun Fan of supermarkets from his previous life. The thought process behind them was surprisingly similar to the marketing tactics of modern times.
There was a crowd in the store, people constantly going in and out. Products were being sold like hotcakes, drawing the envy of other shop owners when they passed by. Those shop owners couldn’t help but mock, “I can’t believe so many idiots would buy from them when their products are more expensive than mine.”
The three of them were in the Hundred Treasures Hall and couldn’t speak out loudly. As such, Wun Tung lowered his voice and got close to Wun Fan’s ear as he explained in detail, “The Hundred Treasures Hall always had a good selection of products, decent pricing, and guaranteed quality in what they sell. However, it didn’t use to have this much traffic. Ever since the new manager, the fifteenth lineage daughter Chan Chi Yuet arrived, this place has been on a meteoric rise. The other shops of the market couldn’t stop the Chan Clan’s rise to power, even when they colluded to work against them.”
“It’s not without reason that this Hundred Treasures Hall has become so successful,” Wun Fan couldn’t help but sigh, but it was obvious that he was impressed by the Chan Clan. In all honesty, the fact that this Chan Chi Yuet could think of something so original when she was born in this feudal, backward society of Heaven’s Martial World was incredibly impressive. In all honesty, if Wun Fan hadn’t had his memories of a modern world, he wouldn’t understand the purpose of the Hundred Treasures Hall’s layout either.
Wun Siu Lan was surprised to hear what he said and immediately asked, “Why do you say that, Fan? The store is arranged so weirdly. It hardly even looks like a store.”
However, Wun Siu Lan had to admit that the Hundred Treasures Hall was very popular, with a tremendous flow of traffic. Compared to the other stores in the market, it was obvious that the Hundred Treasures Hall had much more business. It was no wonder the Hundred Treasures Hall could rival the Wun Clan in influence. They had all the resources needed to do so. Even now, she couldn’t understand why the items were arranged the way they were. Wouldn’t it just result in more instances of shoplifting?
While Wun Siu Lan was still confused about everything, Wun Tung had a much bigger reaction. He grabbed Wun Fan by the arm and seemed desperate enough to kneel down. His tone was practically begging as he asked Wun Fan, “Young master, could you tell me why you just said what you said?”320Please respect copyright.PENANAqXoZUwBb7r
