Sunset. Wun Fan was almost at Wun Mansion already, holding back his excitement as much as possible. He was filthy rich. If someone were to jump out and rob him right now, he would probably cry until he passed out. Of course, who in Green Sea Town would dare to rob the third young master of the Wun Clan? Probably only people in a hurry to see the underworld would try anything like that.
Wun Fan did some quick calculations. The four pills had been sold for a total of around 10,500 gold coins. Take away the cost of the items he purchased and he still had over 3,000 gold left. That was worth about ten days of the Wun Clan’s income. Wun Fan was confident that even Wun Ching Yeung did not have that much personal money to his name.
From this alone, you could see how ridiculous of a profit you could make from concocting pills.
Wun Fan turned the storage ring on his finger. This ring was known as the Coldring of the Serene Moon, forged of serene-moon coldstone. It was a gift from Chan Chi Yuet. Compared to ordinary storage rings (which could only be activated with soul energy), the Coldring could also be activated with aether!
Chan Chi Yuet knew that Wun Fan would participate in the auction as well, which was why she prepared a ring ahead of time to store the items he purchased. This ring was practically made for Wun Fan’s situation. It once again demonstrated Chan Chi Yuet’s keen observational skills. She was so attentive to detail that it was almost scary.
Wun Fan arrived at his destination safely.
He returned to his personal dwelling and found his father waiting for him in the courtyard for him. He was leisurely enjoying warm tea. It didn’t take much for Wun Fan to figure out why Wun Ching Yeung was here. A warm feeling filled his heart, as he looked at Wun Ching Yeung. So this was how it felt to have someone spoil you.
If it was possible, Wun Fan wanted to live his life like his name suggested, as nothing more than an ordinary cloud*.
“Dad,” Wun Fan smiled and said.
“You’re back,” Wun Ching Yeung was as gentle as always. His eyes were filled with loving care for Wun Fan. He waved his hand and motioned for Wun Fan to sit down and share a word with him.
The two of them sat in the courtyard, facing each other as they sipped on tea. Wun Ching Yeung had taught Wun Fan how to appreciate good tea when he was very young. As such, Wun Fan may be young, but his understanding of tea was as refined as the veterans. Wun Fan could appreciate the smoothness of the tea, the sweetness at the tip of his tongue and the fragrance that filled his mouth.
Wun Ching Yeung took out a wooden box from his ring and handed it over to Wun Fan. He smiled gently as he said, “Wun Fan, it’s a little early, but here’s your birthday gift in advance.”
Wun Fan took the wooden box. His chest felt warm. He raised his head to look at the night sky peppered with stars. He felt his eyes turn wet as he counted them. A teardrop formed in the corner of his eye.
“Father, what is this?” Wun Fan pretended to be tired and rubbed his eyes, wiping off that tiny bit of liquid.
“Haha, this is the Grade Six Pill of Meridian Fortification. It is made specifically for healing meridian injuries and has phenomenal effect in that regard,” Wun Ching Yeung patted Wun Fan on the head and smiled, “If a son lives to a hundred years old, the father worries for ninety-nine.”
“Father…” Wun Fan choked back his tears. He couldn’t say anything substantial. He could only change the topic, “Father, this pill must be very expensive, isn’t it?”
Wun Ching Yeung yawned and shrugged it off, “That costs a few dozen gold coins per pill. You better not waste it.”
Naturally, Wun Fan knew that Wun Ching Yeung was lying to spare his feelings. However, there was no need to expose his father. All he had to do was remember what his father had done for him and make sure to repay him in the future.
They say that a father’s love is heavy as a mountain. Wun Fan felt that weight in the wooden box he was holding. He looked away and said softly, “Thank you, father.”
Wun Ching Yeung knew his own children very well. Wun Fan was an exceptionally intelligent kid. There was no way a simple lie like this would have fooled him, but he didn’t need to say anything more. The two of them looked at each other in silence, their thoughts already perfectly communicated to each other. They remained quiet for a moment, enjoying the warmness of the moment.
“Sleep early, Fan. This pill is gentle in nature. There won’t be any danger when you consume it. All you have to do is direct the pill’s power to your meridians,” Wun Ching Yeung stood up to return to his dwelling, seeing as it was quite late already. He had had a tiring day as well and wanted to get some rest. He took another look at Wun Fan before he left. He smiled and walked away in a pleasant mood.
With wooden box in hand and a heavy heart, Wun Fan returned to his room and waited for nightfall.
The moon was fresh as a newborn babe, the clouds too thin to sew into a dress. The lone moon hung in the sky, illuminating the night and scattering moonlight all across the land.
A green silhouette flickered. Wun Fan once again appeared at the mountain in the back. He poured aether into the Coldring and could sense how large its internal space was. The ring probably cost a lot. He couldn’t help but think even better of Chan Chi Yuet. He took out a wooden box and a jade bottle and retrieved the pills inside. He looked at them in silence for a moment.
He came to after a while and asked Old Lei in his mind, “Old Lei, do I just need one pill for my injuries?”
Old Lei was silent for a moment before he replied, “Well, there’s nothing wrong with eating two. At any rate, fortifying your meridians is always a good thing. This pill is gentle in nature, so eating an additional one won’t do any harm to your body. I only gave you one while reserving the other four for sale to help you gather more money. Having more money will make things easier in the future.”
“Alright!” Wun Fan was confident now that he had Old Lei’s answer. He took out both pills without any second thoughts and swallowed both of them. He then crossed his legs and started digesting the pill’s power.
“Man, it’s bitter,” the two pills were extremely bitter to taste. They didn’t turn into liquid in his mouth. Instead, Wun Fan needed to chew and crush the pills thoroughly before swallowing. He felt a large surge of energy erupt from the pills when they reached his stomach. The energy immediately started flowing through his meridians. They quickly mended the wounds in his meridians wherever they went, causing a pleasant and cooling sensation.
“Use the pill’s power well,” Old Lei reminded Wun Fan curtly. He observed Wun Fan from the ring as Wun Fan absorbed and digested the pill’s power. After all, Wun Fan was still only a ninth-level Martial Disciple. Regardless of how excellent he was, he was still a rookie when it came to cultivation. Paying more attention to him was necessary.
The aether within the medicinal power was being absorbed by the body, even as the pill mended the meridians. Wun Fan tried to guide the aether when he observed this happening in his body. He brought the aether to his Curved Pond Point and started his assault on the tenth vital point: the Wind Pond Point.
Once he broke through this pressure point and filled it with aether, he would become the tenth-level Martial Disciple he had always dreamed of being. He would be one step away from becoming a Martial Mortal.
The surge of aether entered the Wind Pond Point without any obstruction. It expanded the pressure point and tempered it, turning Wun Fan into a tenth-level Martial Disciple. However, consuming two Grade Six pills filled with aether caused the power in Wun Fan’s body to fill to the brim. As such, Wun Fan steeled himself and made the decision to fill the Wind Pond Point completely.
Wun Fan’s innate mental energy combined with the aether in the Wind Pond Point once it had been fully filled. His mental energy slowly merged with the aether to form soul energy, which flowed back through the ten vital points along the meridians. The aether throughout the rest of his body was slowly assimilated, turning from aether into soul energy.
The whole process was long and tedious. Wun Fan had to constantly control the flow of soul energy while guiding the pill’s power to his ten vital points. An ordinary eleven-year-old would be complaining restlessly by now. However, Wun Fan had an uncanny patience for his age. He sat down silently until the entire process was complete.
Wun Fan opened his eyes. Soul energy surged from within his body. He was now a Martial Mortal!269Please respect copyright.PENANAuue7rFyZM2
