As a Martial Master, Bat Yun could tell the difference in strength between him and his opponent. He knew that killing the young boy in front of him was an impossible task. In fact, even trying to survive was no more than a dream.
After all, this boy had just killed a dozen Martial Vassals in an instant.
That was why Bat Yun used his ultimate technique without any hesitation: Blood Sacrifice, Wolf’s Dream Blade.
Blood and bonds tied to a blade, death can claim the life but the dream will never fade. The last will of his six subordinates was bonded with their blood. When he stabbed them through the heart, the blood merged with the blade, giving rise to this martial technique.
Bat Yun held the saber in his hand, blood coiling around the blade, swirling endlessly. On a closer look, Bat Yun had cut his palm. The blood flowing from his palm connected with the blood on the saber, forming a connection.
He gave off a strange aura, as if he was both real and yet not present on the spot. He seemed like an illusion, but he was standing right there. This aura of his made him unpredictable and made him feel extremely dangerous.
“Old Lei, how do we deal with this technique?” asked Wun Fan when he saw Bat Yun in this condition. He might have handed over control of his body to Old Lei, but he was still receiving sensory feedback from his body.
“His aura is strange, but that is no problem,” said Old Lei calmly, almost as if his opponent was not even worth regarding. He then snapped at Wun Fan, “Now shut up for a moment.”
Wun Fan understood Old Lei very well. When he heard Old Lei say this, he immediately shut up.
Boom!
Just like Wun Fan, Bat Yun raised his saber and struck without a single word. His feet pounded loudly against the ground, sending dirt and snow into the air as he lunged forward. He swung his sword, slashing at ‘Wun Fan’’s face!
The red saber cut across space, the pungent smell of blood filling the air.
The blue dragon flicked its tail at the enemy without any hesitation under Old Lei’s control.
Bat Yun immediately changed the trajectory of his attack. He stopped in his tracks and his wrist twisted an impossible two hundred degrees to slash the dragon’s tail. The red saber cut through the tail like butter, easily severing it!
The dragon’s tail quickly dissipated once it was severed.
“Mm?” muttered ‘Wun Fan’. He was a little puzzled when he saw this, but he could see that the blood energy around Bat Yun’s saber had weakened significantly after that attack. The smell of blood was also much weaker than before. He suddenly understood and chuckled as he said, “Come, Blazing Plains!”
The phoenix immediately moved in accordance with his will.
It let out a cry and lunged down at Bat Yun. Its silhouette turned into a blur, before it crashed violently into Bat Yun, turning the whole area into a smoldering mess of flames.
The flames engulfed Bat Yun’s entire body. All the trees within a six-meter range were set ablaze and the flame continued to spread outwards. It was a terrifying sight to behold.
“Aaaaaah!” cried Bat Yun in pain. His voice was deep and hoarse. He swung his saber around three times. The blood energy on his sword turned into a giant blood wolf, large enough for two people to ride atop.
Bat Yun hopped onto the wolf. The wolf jumped with its powerful legs and quickly escaped the sea of fire. The blood wolf stepped on a branch and hopped again to another branch with incredible agility. It circled around and landed thirty meters behind Wun Fan.
‘Wun Fan’ turned around to look at Bat Yun. He was calm and completely composed.
“That’s an interesting martial technique. I didn’t expect to see something like that in a rural place like this,” said Wun Fan in his young voice.
He wagged his fingers at Bat Yun, as if telling him to attack.
Bat Yun stopped moving. He was trying to pull his focus and spirit together for another attack when he realized a fire was still burning on his right arm. It had already been burned black by the flames. The nerves were dead, so he didn’t even feel the pain. He tried to put out the flames, but no matter what he did, it wouldn’t go out, so he gave up.
Bat Yun immediately pulled his left palm across the blade of his saber, all the way from the hilt to the tip. Five drops of blood leapt from the blade, turning into wolves as they landed on the ground. However, there wasn’t much blood energy left on the saber itself. It seemed like summoning the blood wolves had consumed most of it.
He raised his saber and pointed at ‘Wun Fan’. All six wolves and himself rushed at him.
“Lethality: Arrow of the Sprinting Thunder and Splitting Wind. Triple Shot.”
Fung Ching saw that Bat Yun’s attention was entirely focused on Wun Fan. It was the perfect opportunity to snipe at him and he wouldn’t miss it. He took Wun Fan’s suggestion and smeared the arrowhead with poison to secure the kill.
To ensure it would be a lethal hit, Fung Ching poured all of his soul energy into this attack, causing the three arrows to be twice as fast as usual.
The three arrows cut across the sky and tremendous speed, but surprisingly, three of the blood wolves reacted even faster. They turned around and snatched an arrow each in their jaws, crushing the arrows into pieces!
“What?” said Fung Ching in disbelief. He had intended to fire two more arrows to finish the job, only to realize that he had exhausted all of his soul energy. He slipped and fell to his knees, unable to continue his barrage. Wun Fan had only given him one Energy Restoration Pill back then. He had no choice but to slowly recover his soul energy now.
“Let’s just wait for him to come back. I believe in Wun Fan,” said Hung Yu Fei as he helped Fung Ching up. Her eyes were filled with blind confidence in Wun Fan.
It was strange. It had been less than three days since they met.
Bat Yun was completely uninterested in Fung Ching. He ignored the three arrows. The blood wolf he was riding accelerated once again. The other five wolves scattered and lunged at Wun Fan from multiple directions.
“How naive,” said ‘Wun Fan’.
He waved his hand and the dragon grew several times in size. Its severed tail regenerated and it coiled around Wun Fan, becoming his greatest shield.
Blood was of the Yin attribute, while fire was of the Yang attribute. When the two conflicting elements clashed, only one would emerge. However, in this battle, there was no question that Old Lei’s Flame of the Roaming Dragon and Dancing Pheonix was stronger!
The six blood wolves were evaporated by the flames in an instant. They couldn’t even reach ‘Wun Fan’. However, Bat Yun had never planned for the blood wolves to finish the job. He let out a laugh as he cried, “Blood sacrifice!”
Blood was ripped out of his body and coiled around the saber. The smell of blood was more pungent than before. He turned pale as a cadaver and his skin started to shrivel. Even his cheeks turned sunken and sallow.
He slashed seven times in a row, slicing the blue dragon into pieces. The blue flames dissipated into the air as Bat Yun’s saber appeared before ‘Wun Fan’!
Even the great elder and Wun Ching Yeung together had been unable to deal with Old Lei’s flames on that night in the mountain. It was unthinkable that a Martial Master had been able to penetrate his defenses!
‘Wun Fan’’s silhouette was revealed when the blue dragon faded. He smiled and said simply, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
He reached out with his tiny palm. His five fingers thrust upward and grabbed the saber firmly. There was a milimeter gap between his palm and the blade, but no matter how hard Bat Yun thrust or pulled, he could not move his saber at all.
Catching a blade with his bare hands?!
A ghostly red flame burst forth from the five fingers. The blood coiled around the saber was evaporated by the fire, leaving no trace at all. Even the saber itself was turned into molten metal, which dripped onto the ground and sizzled against the earth.
“I would never have done this if I wasn’t trying to save my energy!” said Old Lei. His mental energy was an extremely precious resource. He would never have expended so much of it fighting against the great elder and Wun Ching Yeung if it wasn’t to protect Wun Fan.
A Martial Master like this couldn’t even make him get serious!
That was why he set up the trap and baited the enemy into it. He knew that blood was the key to this martial technique, so he let him come close and evaporated the blood in a single move. There was no need to use so much mental energy to control the dragon and the phoenix.
Bat Yun saw his opponent dispel his ultimate technique with ease and flew into a rage. His brothers’ lives had just been for absolutely nothing. Blood poured from his eyes as he shouted, “Screw you!”
He reached forward with both hands, trying to strangle ‘Wun Fan’ in his anger. However, ‘Wun Fan’ simply flicked out a few tiny bolts of fire. These firebolts wrapped up his limbs like rope and flew into the sky, leaving Bat Yun suspended in the air.
He couldn’t even move.
“Just kill me!” shouted Bat Yun. There was nothing else he could do. He couldn’t complete the gang’s mission and even lead the entire Flower Thief Squad to their deaths.
It was a total of thirty-seven people. Even though the Green Wolf Gang still had plenty of powerful individuals in the leadership, these subordinates were still vitally important to the gang. This loss would set the gang back tremendously.
Wun Fan shook his head. He moved his finger and Bat Yun was pressed to his knees on the ground by the flames. ‘Wun Fan’ placed his hand on his head. His fingers pressed inward, instantly piercing through Bat Yun’s skull. Mental energy rushed into Bat Yun’s mind as ‘Wun Fan’ said, “You will die.”
“Once I have gotten what I need, that is.”
Having said that, a powerful surge of mental energy broke into Bat Yun’s mind, forcefully shredding his mind to pieces. Old Lei then slowly started interpreting the memory fragments left behind.
