The human body has twelve main meridians, six of the Yin attribute and six of the Yang attribute. These are further divided into the Three-Yin Hand Meridians, the Three-Yang Hand Meridians, the Three-Yin Leg Meridians and the Three-Yang Leg Meridians. The three Yin refers to Greater Yin, the Lesser Yin and the Valley Yin; while the three Yang refers to the Bright Yang, the Greater Yang and the Lesser Yang.
Of the twelve main meridians, the six Yin meridians are distributed along the inner side of each limb and the stomach, while the six Yang meridians are distributed along the outer side of each limb, the face and the torso.
A novice Martial Mortal must first excavate the Lung Meridian of the Three-Yin Hand Meridians. This allows them to absorb more aether for refinement with every breath, which will allow them to create more soul energy.
The large amount of soul energy that travelled through the meridians would occasionally have to travel along with the blood flow to certain parts of the body, such as the muscles and the tendons. However, if someone’s blood contains too much soul energy, it would put tremendous pressure on the heart. That is also why the other two meridians that novice Martial Mortal must strengthen are the Heart Meridian and the Pericardium Meridian. These will allow their hearts to withstand greater pressure.
Once the Three-Yin Hand Meridians have been excavated, the next meridians are the Three-Yang Hand Meridians. These are the Large Intestine Meridian, the Small Intestine Meridian and the Triple Energizer Meridian. While they are called the Large and Small Intestine Meridians, the meridians are actually located along the arm.
The moment Wun Fan touched Chai Chau Chin’s wrist, a large amount of death aura surged into his body. The death aura travelled through his meridians as it rushed into his martial heart. Li’l Black grew rapidly as it continued to devour the death aura. It looked like it was enjoying itself and it seemed to be growing more intelligent.
Li’l Black continued to enjoy its feast as it indulged itself. However, it didn’t forget to repay its master. Li’l Black galvanized what was left of the death aura and it started rushing like a roaring flood down Wun Fan’s meridians. The death aura surged into the Large and Small Intestine Meridians, quickly excavating the pressure points located in those two meridians.
The death aura continued flowing like an unending spring.
Not only did they excavate the pressure points, a trace of death aura was always left behind. This trace of death aura forged and strengthened the pressure point, making it tougher and more flexible. This, in turn, made the meridians more resilient, allowing more soul energy to rush through them at the same time, greatly increasing the explosive power of Wun Fan’s martial technique!
Wun Fan was intoxicated by this feeling of growth. He held onto Chai Chau Chin’s wrist so tightly, veins started showing on his hands. Wun Fan’s body trembled, but he held on until the every last drop of death aura had been extracted from the body.
Hung Yu Fei and Fung Ching looked on speechlessly with wide-open jaws. Hung Yu Fei said weakly, “Is he a necrophile?”
Wun Fan could feel two gazes burning a hole in his back. He immediately turned around. He saw his companion’s reaction, and looked down at what he was doing. He knew he was in trouble and quickly made up an explanation, “I was performing a purification ceremony.”
“Purification ceremony?” asked Hung Yu Fei and Fung Ching. They didn’t understand what that was. Their frowns grew even tighter as they looked at Wun Fan like they were looking at a creep.
“Yup, it’s like a burial ceremony…thing…you do for the dead,” said Wun Fan. He knew he was only digging a deeper hole for himself the more he tried to explain, so he decided to just shut up. He searched Chai Chau Chin’s body and found a storage ring in his pockets. Naturally, that belonged to him now. Wun Fan ignored the two people looking at him and casually strolled across the battlefield, touching the corpses.
Apart from the novice Martial Scholar’s body, the other eleven corpses quickly had their death auras absorbed.
The large amount of death aura helped Wun Fan excavate his Triple Energizer Meridian with ease, turning him into an advanced Martial Mortal. His aura grew stronger instantly. Fung Ching could sense this and thought to himself, All that exertion from the battle and he grew stronger?
Could it be the effect of the pills? thought Fung Ching as he recalled Wun Fan’s generosity with the pills he gave them. He quickly assumed Wun Fan’s change to be because of those very same pills.
When Wun Fan finally finished touching the last corpse, the Innate Martial Master guard walked over. It looked as if he had something to say. Fung Ching and Hung Yu Fei stood beside Wun Fan and greeted the guard with palm over fist. Fung Ching spoke, “Sir…?”
The guard said in a cold and solemn tone, “Go now. Don’t wait around.”
Having said that, he turned around and walked away. He had just taken two steps when Wun Fan’s boyish voice rang out behind him, “Thank you for your aid, sir. We are tremendously grateful for your help.”
The guard said nothing. He paused for a brief moment before shaking his head and smiling as he walked back to the Martial Artist Guild. A memory suddenly came to mind. A young girl holding on to his leg, the daughter of a deceased friend. She grew out to be a pretty woman and a capable martial artist. She went out training with a group of other martial artists, but went missing in Green Sea Forest. Her companions were found dead.
Witnesses claimed the people who abducted her had tattoos of green wolves on their bodies.
The guard sneered coldly. As he stepped through the doors of the Guild, the tile in front of the entrance was pulverized beneath his feet.
The road to the entrance of Green Sea Forest.
“Here, that’s yours,” said Fung Ching as he threw a storage ring back to Wun Fan. Wun Fan had stuffed it in his hand in the Guild’s lobby. He then went upstairs and bought all the equipment they needed, which was what allowed them to execute their plan.
Wun Fan aimed at the ring carefully and let loose a weakened Dragon’s Might at it, sending the ring back into Fung Ching’s hands. He chuckled and said, “Keep it. You need a storage ring to keep all the inner cores we are going to get later.”
Fung Ching wasn’t a sentimental person. He caught the ring and kept it, but he couldn’t help but be even more impressed with Wun Fan. Whether it came to cunning, intelligence, or even the way he dealt with people, Wun Fan was far beyond his age.
Were all kids these days so amazing?
“It’s not wise to drag our feet around here. Let’s go,” said Wun Fan before breaking into a sprint.
Four hours passed by in the blink of an eye. It was late in the day already, but no one dared to clean up the scene of the battle. The smell of blood permeated the air.
A series of hasty gallops could be heard as a group of people arrived from the other direction of the road. There were almost thirty of them. The leader looked at the ground full of corpses, his eyes lingering on the green wolf tattoos on every body, and his face turned green with anger. He was stunned when he first received the news. He could not believe it. Even now, after seeing it with his own eyes, he was still overcome with shock.
He immediately ordered one of his subordinates to enter the Martial Artist Guild for information.
A short moment later, the subordinate returned with news, “Commander, they say it was a boy, a girl and a teenager who did this. The first two seem to be the people we have a bounty for.”
“Did anyone see which direction they are headed in?” asked the commander as he took a few deep breaths to calm down. If they didn’t punish the people who slaughtered their members like this, everyone would think of them as the Green Dog Gang from now on!
“Yes, Commander! Apparently, they are headed toward the entrance of Green Sea Forest,” said the man as he pointed in a certain direction. He handed over a piece of parchment and added, “Someone also mentioned that the teenager with the bow took this mission parchment with him.”
“And their strength?”
“Unclear, commander,” said the subordinate in a trembling voice. He was terrified he would be the victim of the commander’s wrath.
The commander stroked his chin as he read the parchment. His breathing turned heavy and his face turned bright red with anger. He thought for a few moments and barked out an order, “Five of you, bring these corpses back!”
The next second, killing intent spilled out from his eyes as he roared, “The rest of you, follow me to avenge our brothers!”
“Yes, sir!” howled the other men. They pinched their legs together and their horses charged in the direction that the man had pointed them in. They swore to exact revenge for the Green Wolf Gang.
Three figures flitted down the road. In the blink of an eye, they were only one kilometer away from the entrance. Wun Fan and his two companions saw many martial artists on their way back to the guild as they travelled. Most of them were men.
Some of the men stared at Hung Yu Fei’s body with sleazy eyes, making her feel uncomfortable. She subconsciously pulled her clothes together to drive away that feeling of unease. She wanted to throw a tantrum and teach those men a lesson, but she was afraid Wun Fan would use that as an excuse to kick her out of the party. She didn’t want her adventure to end because of her temper.
She was slowly learning how to control her emotions.
The three of them saw a few stone benches that were naturally formed by erosion over the years. The three of them had been travelling for several hours now. They had just finished a fight not long ago, and so they decided to take a rest.
Wun Fan seemed to want to say something while they were resting, but he hesitated a few times. He paused for a moment to gather his thoughts. Fung Ching was an observant person. He saw Wun Fan’s expression and knew he had something to say, so he said first, “Is there anything you want to tell us?”
Wun Fan stroked his chin and tapped his forehead with his finger twice. He then said, “Fung Ching, you have good combat sense, but you can make better use of your strengths.”
“Strengths?” said Fung Ching in a confused tone. He was an archer and made full use of distance in their battle earlier. How could he have made better use of his strengths?
“Tsk tsk,” said Wun Fan as he shook his index finger, as if Fung Ching was completely wrong. It was a very annoying expression that got on Fung Ching’s nerves.
“Poison!” said Wun Fan.
