However, there was no way the men could ever say that to Hung Yun Fei’s face. They swallowed their complaints and accepted that they were simply unlucky. They all took a deep breath and calmed down. As the captain of the party, Cheung Yun Ching was better at handling his emotions than his men. He replied, “Understood. Thank you for your forgiveness, young mistress.”
It was a rough day for them today. First someone from the Wun Clan and now someone from the Hung Clan…
“If you all don’t mind, you can purchase these three ponies from me. They might not be fast, but they are hardy. They have the stamina to continue running for hours on end,” said Ho Siu Nam. She was straightforward and simple with her words, cutting to the most important points.
She was also excellent at observing people’s faces. She saw Hung Yu Fei’s brow move slightly, indicating interest in her suggestion, so she quickly continued, “These ponies usually sell for two silver coins and 850 copper coins each in town. If you all don’t mind, I can go ahead and make the decision for my father and sell these points for two silver coins and 300 copper coins each. Is that okay?”
“Very well, I’ll buy one,” said Hung Yun Fei as she flicked her fingers. She tossed three silver coins into Ho Siu Nam’s hands and walked forward to take one of the ponies.
Cheung Yun Ching saw this and stepped forward reluctantly to say, “Miss Hung, as you can see…there are six men between us. It’s already a little much to have two men share a single pony each. If you were to take a pony as well…”
“I don’t care. I can’t share a ride with a bunch of ruffians like you lot, can I? What indignity!” said Hung Yun Fei. She thought Cheung Yun Ching was suggesting that she ride with them. Naturally, she wouldn’t lower herself to doing that.
“You misunderstand, Miss Hung,” said Cheung Yun Ching frustratedly. He really wanted to just yell at this girl. What was she thinking in that mind of hers? He wouldn’t dare to ride with a girl like her even if he had a hundred lives to spare.
“What I mean is: while we might take the three ponies, if you think about it, riding on a pony doesn’t befit your status,” said Cheung Yun Ching. He didn’t mind selling out Wun Fan at this point. He pointed at Wun Fan’s white horse and said, “Look, Miss Hung, Young Master Wun over there is from the Wun Clan of Green Sea Town. Sharing a horse with someone of his status isn’t too much to ask, is it?”
“Moreover, ponies are indeed not very fast!”
Ho Siu Nam heard this and started passing the three silver coins back to Hung Yu Fei.
Cheung Yun Ching had thought of snatching the pony that Ho Siu Nam herself was riding, but he didn’t quite know what Hung Yu Fei was like. Their brief interaction earlier had only made him realize how unpredictable the girl could be. Sometimes she’s playful, arrogant and capricious; other times she’s trying to be a good person. She had shown no intention to take the pony from the girl by force. If he were to try and snatch the girl’s pony by force, it might just invite more trouble.
Thus, a new plan hatched in Cheung Yun Ching’s mind when he saw Wun Fan.
“Oh, so it’s a little boy from the Green Sea Town’s Wun Clan,” said Hung Yu Fei, her interest in the proposition suddenly ignited. After all, her destination was the Wun Clan of Green Sea Town. She just got bored because the accompanying convoy was too slow and because there was nothing to do at all. She wanted to reach the Green Sea Town’s Hung Clan as quickly as possible. Thus, she spiked her guards’ water barrel with powerful laxatives. Even the Martial Scholars amongst the guards didn’t stand a chance.
She saw an opportunity and slipped away from the convoy.
However, when she arrived at the crossroads earlier, Reddie suddenly went crazy and went on a rampage. She couldn’t control Reddie and crashed into the stable. This sent the other horses fleeing, and her own precious horse as well.
She knew this whole thing was partially her fault as well. She just picked a fight with the Green Wolf Gang members to vent her frustrations, which was why she stopped her martial technique at the last second.
Hung Yu Fei wasn’t a bad person at heart. She just had a bit of an overbearing personality and liked to do whatever she liked.
Of course, men didn’t usually like overbearing women who did whatever they liked.
Which was why Wun Fan disliked the girl. In particular, he hated her arrogant tone and the way she looked down on other people. Compared to Chan Chi Yuet’s elegant way of speaking which always put people at ease, this girl was the exact opposite.
However, Wun Fan was trying to avoid trouble, so he had been smart enough to stay out of the conversation. However, now that Cheung Yun Ching had announced his identity, it seemed a little rude to not at least introduce himself.
Being rude wasn’t a big deal, but disgracing the clan was. At the end of the day, Wun Fan still felt a sense of belonging to his clan. So, he waved his hand and said courteously, “Good to meet you, Miss Hung.”
“Haha! Little boy, the Wun Clan and the Hung Clan are fast friends,” said Hung Yu Fei, immediately adopting a familiar attitude with Wun Fan. She smoothed out her skirt and greeted him in kind, “What’s your name?”
“Fan,” said Wun Fan, staying polite. However, his gaze and his tone towards Hung Yu Fei were cold. He had a feeling that this girl would be big trouble and he didn’t want anything to do with her.
“I see. Little Wun Fan, can you lend me your horse and ride with me to Green Sea Town?” asked Hung Yu Fei sincerely. She spoke to him sweetly, almost like a kidnapper trying to snatch a child, “I really, really need your help. If you help me, I can ask my uncle to give you a big reward!”
She didn’t understand why Wun Fan behaved like an old man when he was so young. She became even more curious about Wun Fan. She was also interested in Wun Fan’s horse. The ponies were really slow, after all, and asking three burly men to ride on the same pony was a little…
She couldn’t possibly take Ho Siu Nam’s pony by force. She was unreasonable at times, but sometimes she was perfectly kind. It was quite a contradictory personality she had.
“My uncle’s the mayor of Green Sea Town, you know?” said Hung Yu Fei. It wasn’t too loud and none of the Green Wolf Gang members heard her at all. However, Wun Fan felt like thunder had just gone off beside his ears. He looked up in confusion as the sentence echoed in his mind, “My uncle’s the mayor…the mayor…mayor…”
He recalled what happened the day he woke up. Wun Ching Yeung and Hung Yun Zak were discussing something in the meeting hall. Didn’t they say that Hung Yun Zak had a niece who was coming to Green Sea Town who they wanted to introduce to him?
There’s no way, right?
“No, thanks. My destination is Green Sea Forest. Forgive me, but I cannot send you to Green Sea Town,” said Wun Fan, expecting to dismiss her request just like that. However, right after the words came out of his mouth, he realized that Hung Yu Fei was staring at him with gleaming, hungry eyes. She even licked her lips. She seemed really interested.
Mm? Did I say the wrong thing?
“Green Sea Forest, you said?” asked Hung Yu Fei as she clasped her cheeks in excitement. She stepped forward and grabbed Wun Fan by the shoulders as she asked again, “Are you going for training?”
She suddenly started recalling something from her memory, “My father mentioned Green Sea Forest before I left. He said he would arrange for a servant to follow me there.”
“But going adventuring in Green Sea Forest alone and with someone guiding me is two completely different things,” said Hung Yu Fei as she stared at Wun Fan. Her goal was obvious. She wanted Wun Fan to bring her with him to Green Sea Forest!
Wun Fan felt a headache coming on. He couldn’t help but moan to Old Lei, “Save me, Old Lei. Please, please, please show me mercy and save me from this hell.”
Old Lei simply replied, “Sorry, I am not responsible for your relationship troubles.”
“...” Wun Fan had no choice but to accept his fate. He shrugged at Hung Yu Fei and said, “Alright, go pack your things. We can ride together on my horse.”
“Alright!” Hung Yu Fei didn’t mind riding with Wun Fan. After all, in her eyes, Wun Fan was still a little boy. She just thought of him as a little brother. Meanwhile, the thought of a fourteen-year-old girl like herself leading an eleven-year-old boy on an adventure made her feel extremely accomplished.
She turned around and started skipping, dreaming of what it would be like to go on an adventure. She couldn’t wait to pack her things and set off for Green Sea Town…
Pack her things? Hold on. She didn’t even bring any luggage with her?
She turned around to look at Wun Fan. The boy was already riding on the white horse. He pinched his legs and the white horse took off. It was twenty meters away in the blink of an eye. Hung Yu Fei was completely dumbfounded. To think a lady of the Hung Clan like herself would be tricked by an eleven-year-old boy!
Moreover, she fell for such a simple and stupid trick!
Hung Yu Fei angrily took out a green leaf. She pinched it between her fingers and threw it. The leaf flew a dozen meters into the distance, before freezing in the air as if suspended. She conjured soul energy to her feet and took a few heavy steps on the snow, before doing a somersault. Her body was limber as a willow’s branch and light as a leaf. Her foot made a perfect arc across the air.
It landed accurately on the leaf. Strangely enough, the leaf in the air stayed suspended in the air, completely taking on Hung Yu Fei’s weight. She cried out, “It’s not that easy to get away from me!”
