It was the seventh day of the New Year, and Empire Day of the Nap-Lan Empire. According to legends, there once was an unparalleled martial artist who bore the name of Nap-Lan. Taking advantage of the New Year celebrations, he invaded the enemy kingdom and took them by surprise, conquering the kingdom in seven days, thereby forming the Nap-Lan Empire.
On this very day, an invitation was delivered to the various major clans of Green Sea town. The envelope was written on yellow paper and bound with black-and-white lace. The word ‘INVITATION’ was embroidered on the envelope with gold thread, in a noble and refined display of wealth and class.
Wun Ching Yeung stepped into the clan’s meeting hall early in the morning and a servant immediately handed him the invitation. He slowly opened it the letter and read its contents carefully.
To the esteemed Clan Master Wun:

Wun Ching Yeung couldn’t help but mutter to himself, “Pills of Meridian Fortification?” He seemed to have heard of this pill before. It was a Sixth Grade pill and if he remembered correctly, was a pill that had been expressly developed for the purpose of treating the meridians of martial artists.
It could mend the meridians of the injured and fortify the meridians of those who were healthy. An important figure appeared in his mind at the thought of his head. He slammed the letter against the table and got up on his feet. Light gleamed in his eyes as he said, “Siu Ha, please go and notify the great elder that I have something to discuss with him.”
“Yes, clan master.”284Please respect copyright.PENANAGKMoPp7vA1
Wun Fan was starting to get used to the burden on his body. Brushing his teeth wasn’t as painful as it was yesterday. He went out to look for Wun Siu Lan after breakfast.
He arrived at Wun Siu Lan’s dwelling to find guards standing outside the doors. He entered the room and saw the great elder pacing back and forth in front of Siu Lan’s door, seemingly without any intention of knocking and entering. Wun Fan became curious when he saw this, “Morning, gramps.”
“Eh? You’re early, aren’t you kid? Here to see Siu Lan?” the great elder turned back to look when he heard Wun Fan’s greeting. He looked the kid up and down and saw that his movements were still quite unnatural. It seemed like he still had not recovered from his injuries that day.
He had no idea that Wun Fan’s unnatural movements weren’t because of his injuries, but because of the heavy mutesoul armour he was wearing on him.
“Not at all,” Wun Fan shook his head and replied seriously, “I’m here for you.”
“Mm? That’s weird. How did you know I would be at Siu Lan’s?” the great elder looked confused. He never told his servants that he was going to come to look for Siu Lan at all.
“I didn’t. Of course I’m here to look for Siu Lan! Why did you even bother asking?” Wun Fan said in disdain.
The great elder rolled his eyes furiously and send a flying chop at Wun Fan’s head. However, Wun Fan knew the great elder well enough. He expected this reaction and dodged the attack. The great elder couldn’t be bothered with these childish antics and let him dodge the chop with ease.
Who would’ve expected Wun Fan to show no remorse at all? He was a good kid with nothing wrong, except a problem with keeping his mouth shut, “Heh, too easy. I can dodge anything you throw at me!”
The great elder blew up. Soul energy surged from his martial heart as he raised his hand and said, “Martial soul, descend.”
“Lethality: Sword Locks.”
Energy swords suddenly materialized all around Wun Fan, restraining his hands, feet, waist, ribs, and neck. Wun Fan panicked when he realized he had been immobilized, “Man, this isn’t fair. You can’t just attack me out of nowhere.”
“Heh…” the great elder smiled sinisterly and looked at Wun Fan with ill intent written all over his face.
“What…what are you planning? I’m warning you, old man, you better not try anything funny,” Wun Fan had a bad feeling. Bad things always happened when the great elder smiles.
The great elder smiled smugly as he slowly raised his right hand. The energy swords around Wun Fan slowly rose up as well, lifting Wun Fan two meters off the ground. It was a funny sight watching him flail his limbs about helplessly in midair.
“Let me down!” Wun Fan struggled with all he had, but he wasn’t powerful enough to break free of the energy swords’ restraints. Wun Fan started to regret his actions now. If he knew this was going to happen, he wouldn’t have provoked the great elder.
“My energy swords will dissipate in six hours. You can leave then. Hahaha!”
It was only eight in the morning right now, but Chan Chi Yuet had told Wun Fan that the auction would be at two in the afternoon. He would be late for the auction if he was kept here for six hours.
“Why is it so noisy out here?” Wun Siu Lan slowly opened her wooden door. She could hear Wun Fan and grandpa outside, which was why she didn’t bother putting on her mask. Wun Siu Lan was rubbing her sleepy eyes when she saw Wun Fan being hoisted up in the air. A big smile took over her colorful face, “Fan, is this how you dry your laundry? With the person still in them? Haha…”
Wun Siu Lan laughed so hard her stomach hurt. She clasped her stomach and laughed loudly at Wun Fan, even falling to her knees and beating the floor with her fist in her laughing fit. It was just too funny. She had never seen Wun Fan in such an embarrassing position in all the time she had known him. She really couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Wun Fan blushed bright red and started cursing, “Damned old man! Let me down if you dare. I’ll duel you. See if I don’t beat you to death!”
The great elder calmly dug his ear with his pinky and flicked the earwax at Wun Fan, “Didn’t we just have that duel already?”
“...”
“I have something to do this afternoon. Hurry up and let me down…” The great elder waved his hand before Wun Fan could finish speaking and another energy sword appeared out of thin air and sealed his mouth. Wun Fan could only whine and moan quietly.
“Hahahahahahaha…” Wun Siu Lan was still hammering the ground and laughing like a crazy person. She seemed to be in a rather emotional state.
“Brat, your aether seems to be very disturbed. Are you okay?” The great elder couldn’t be bothered by the person suspended in the air. Instead, he turned his attention to Wun Siu Lan. These past few days, he had been able to sense the chaos in Wun Siu Lan’s aether very clearly, even from a distance. This condition seemed to have worsened with time, to the extent that she was leaking soul energy into her surroundings. These symptoms were extremely similar to the ‘faltering’ condition that Martial Mortals experience.
The most concerning thing was Wun Siu Lan’s behavior right now. She was laughing so hard she was rolling on the floor and beating the ground. Her emotions were clearly out of control. Even if Wun Fan’s situation was really comical, it wasn’t that funny, was it?
Wun Fan had noticed Wun Siu Lan’s condition as well. He stopped whining for a moment and focused on Wun Siu Lan. Worry grew in his heart and he couldn’t help but consult with Old Lei, “Old Lei, can you take a look at Siu Lan? She doesn’t seem to be doing too well.”
“She will be fine, trust me,” Old Lei replied firmly. However, he knew that these words alone would not console Wun Fan, so he added gently, “Don’t worry, kid. I will be keeping an eye on this girl’s condition.” Wun Fan did not reply. He simply continued looking on at Wun Siu Lan with concern in his eyes.
“Stop it, brat,” the great elder stopped grinning. His expression was stern as he stared at her and shouted, “Lethality: Sword Locks.”
Wun Siu Lan’s limbs were immediately restrained by the energy swords. The great elder curled his fingers and Wun Siu Lan’s body was lifted into the air, much like Wun Fan. The great elder stepped forward and placed a hand on her pulse. He sent a surge of soul energy into her body to examine her condition. As expected, her condition was very similar to ‘faltering’.
The great elder had always known that Wun Siu Lan’s martial soul was incredibly unique. It was an exotic martial soul, a twin-colored flame. As such, the Wun Clan’s cultivation technique would not be able to help her control her martial soul too well. However, he never expected her martial soul to go so out of control that she wouldn’t even be able to control her soul energy and keep it from leaking.
What was the reason for this strange condition she was experiencing?284Please respect copyright.PENANA1y3duORebU
