Chan Goh Shue put his hand down, signifying that the bidding had officially begun.
“2,200,” Someone immediately raised the price significantly, hoping to snatch the bid in a single go.
“2,800…”
When the price reached 3,000 gold coins, Wun Ching Yeung stood up and raised his hand for everyone to see him. He shouted his bid, “4,500 gold coins.”
The entire hall fell silent when they heard the bid. Everyone’s gaze was drawn towards Wun Ching Yeung. No one had expected someone to so decisively bid 4,500 gold coins after just a few rounds of bidding. This wasn’t a good thing. It very likely meant that 4,500 gold coins were the real minimum price of this Pill of Meridian Fortification.
Wun Ching Yeung was actually feeling a little anxious as well. His purpose in hiking the price so suddenly was obvious. Apart from the fact that he truly did want this pill, he was also using his status and reputation as leverage. He was hoping the audience would do him a favor and give up on bidding. Moreover, he wasn’t a clueless idiot either. The market price for the pill was around 4,000 gold coins. Bidding 4,500 was just enough to not offend the auction house. No one could criticize him for his actions.
In truth, quite a few people were whispering amongst themselves when they saw that Wun Ching Yeung was the one who shouted the bid. After all, everyone here was experienced with auctions and recognized Wun Ching Yeung. Naturally, they understood what he was trying to do. However, there was no denying that the Wun Clan had a good reputation in Green Sea Town. In particular, under Wun Ching Yeung’s leadership, the Wun Clan had a large and healthy cash flow, with which they were purchasing more assets in the town. They had become one of the largest landowners and were incredibly influential.
That was why everyone decided to stop bidding against Wun Ching Yeung. Doing so would only benefit the auction house. Moreover, 4,500 gold coins was a pretty high price already that befit this Pill of Meridian Fortification. As such, everyone sold Wun Ching Yeung a favor and let him win the bid.
“Congratulations, Clan Master Wun,” Chan Goh Shue slammed the auction hammer into the table and officially concluded the sale of the Pill of Meridian Fortification for 4,500 gold coins. Wun Ching Yeung immediately stood up and turned around, bowing and showing respect to the audience to express his gratitude.
Back in the private room, Chan Chi Yuet poked Wun Fan with her elbow, smiling as she said, “I think your dad’s buying that for you, isn’t he?”
Chan Chi Yuet had an intelligence network in Green Sea Town. She knew of the wounds in Wun Fan’s meridians. This was probably the reason his secret mentor had decided to concoct the Grade Six Pill of Meridian Fortification.
Wun Fan naturally knew what his father was thinking and couldn’t help but be moved. His adoptive fathers from both lives treated him incredibly well, so much so that he felt like he could never repay them in full. He swore to himself once again that he would become even stronger and protect the people around him.
“Hey, I have an idea…” Chan Chi Yuet suddenly leaned into Wun Fan’s ear and gave a suggestion. Wun Fan’s eyes gleamed when he heard what she had to say.283Please respect copyright.PENANASXrLHshYYB
Chan Goh Shue waved his hand again and began yet another round of bidding, “The second Pill of Meridian Fortification. Please, you may begin bidding.”
Just as everyone was about to bid, an oddly soft male voice rang out. It wasn’t very loud, but it lingered strangely in the air, “4,500 gold coins.”
When all eyes turned to the source of the voice, they found that it was the mayor of Green Sea Town, Hung Yun Zak himself. He smiled lightly and politely in response to everyone’s gaze. He might be the mayor, but he was clearly taking advantage of his status to have everyone do him a favor, just like Wun Ching Yeung did.
It was all quiet in the private room for a moment. Wun Fan looked on as Hung Yun Zak did this. Wouldn’t this end up harming his own profit? Hmph!
Wun Fan turned to Chan Chi Yuet and said, “Chan girl, 5,000 gold coins.”
Chan Chi Yuet was a smart woman. She naturally understood Wun Fan’s plan. She smiled and said, “Alright!” She immediately leaned against the panel and pressed a few buttons. That said, her movements showed off her most impressive assets and made a certain someone fantasize about certain things…
Back on the auction stage, Chan Goh Shue glanced up and saw several small lights outside the private room. He smiled and thought to himself, You’re walking on a tightrope, girl. There were certain rules in an auction house. If those rules were to be broken, things could get very messy.
However, he loved Chan Chi Yuet like a daughter. Naturally, he wouldn’t expose her here. He would make sure to give him a good scolding later on. He shouted, “The esteemed guest in the private room bids 5,000 gold coins, do we have another offer?”
Hung Yun Zak narrowed his eyes when he heard this. He had an ugly expression on his face. He didn’t expect his own face to be so ineffective at getting people to do him a favor. He glanced at the private room and suddenly had a strange expression on his face. He smiled, before raising his paddle again and shouting, “5,500 gold coins.”
This one single bid from Wun Fan had forcefully raised the price of the pill by 1,000 gold coins. Wun Fan and Chan Chi Yuet were overjoyed. However, Chan Chi Yuet herself knew that Thousand Relics Auction’s reputation would be destroyed if people were to find out what happened. After all, she was colluding with the seller to artificially raise the price of the bid. If people were to find out, they would most definitely accuse them of rigging their auctions!
“5,500 gold coins, going once, going twice, sold!” Chan Goh Shue slammed the hammer to signify the conclusion of the bid. The crowd gasped. They were surprised that the person in the private room had completely disregarded Hung Yun Zak and that the price had reached 5,500 gold coins. That seemed to be a bit on the pricey side.
The crowd was happy to watch the drama unfold and they wondered who the person in the private room was.
Chan Goh Shue immediately brought out the third Pill of Meridian Fortification to keep the atmosphere of the hall going. However, to everyone’s surprise, a middle-aged man stood up and once again raised his paddle to shout, “4,500 gold coins.”
The middle-aged man was bald as an egg. A green wolf tattoo was inked upon his head, all the way to the corner of his eye. He was dressed like a bandit, in dusty and ragged clothes, and radiated a menacing aura of murder. He had thick eyebrows, a fierce gaze, as well as a towering stature and large muscles to go with his threatening look.
“I am Yu Sap Bat, leader of the Green Wolf Band. I hope everyone will do me a favor and not contest my bid,” Yu Sap Bat put one hand over his fist and greeted the audience. However, his words were underlaid with an insistent tone. Rather than a request, his words were more like a threat.
This made Chan Goh Shue very unhappy. Wun Ching Yeung had done it, Hung Yun Zak did it and now this man was doing it as well? If everyone did things the same way, Thousand Relics Auction no longer needed to do business!
“Green Wolf Band? The Green Wolf Band that has set up camp in Green Sea Town recently and who specifically robs and murders other martial artists?” Someone remembered something and immediately shouted out loud, but their friend quickly clasped their mouths.
“Hush…apparently they also kidnap especially beautiful women and bring them back to their camp to…” The crowd murmured amongst themselves after hearing what Yu Sap Bat had said. Yu Sap Bat heard everything but he said nothing. He simply stared calmly at Chan Goh Shue, who was standing on the stage.
Chan Goh Shue stared at him coldly as he said, “My friend, that doesn’t seem to be proper, does it?”
“Heh, I’m an uncultured brute. I mean nothing but what I said. Of course, whoever bids higher wins in this auction. That’s how it goes,” Yu Sap Bat was a little fearful of Chan Goh Shue as well. It was best not to push the envelope when it came to this chief appraiser of Thousand Relics Auction. However, he had already achieved his desired effect. Things were settled if nobody offered a higher bid.
Wun Fan glanced down and repeated the same moe. He had Chan Chi Yuet offer the same bid. The small light outside the room lit up and Chan Goh Shue couldn’t be happier to see it, “Haha, the esteemed guest in the private room bids 5,500 gold coins. Do you intend to keep bidding, Mr. Yu?”
Yu Sap Bat wasn’t surprised by the reaction from the private room. He glanced coldly at the private room and said, “5,700 gold coins.” He had already spoken up. If he were to stop bidding now, he would be the laughingstock of everyone in this hall. The Green Wolf Gang could not be humiliated in this fashion.
“5,700 gold coins going once, going twice, sold!” Chan Goh Shue slammed the hammer once more. Everyone couldn’t believe their eyes to see the sale price rise again and again beyond their expectations. Typically, a Grade Six pill’s market price was around 4,500 to 5,000 gold coins. It would no longer be worth it if it exceeded that price.
Even though this pill was specially designed for the meridians and was quite hard to find on the market, 5,500 gold coins was the limit for its price.
5,700 gold coins was clearly a little expensive.
“Very well, the last Pill of Meridian Fortification,” Chan Goh Shue put on a serious expression and said, “However, according to the seller, this last pill has a fixed price of 8,000 gold coins. This pill will belong to whomever’s bid is the first to reach 8,000.”
“There is no starting price. You may begin.”283Please respect copyright.PENANAMXvaKjq6X5
