The Martial Artist Guild had a rule. Anyone who attacked first within the boundary line would be seen as provoking the guild. The guild does not tolerate this and would go to great lengths to defend the guild’s dignity.
Death to those who dare to step on the guild’s dignity!
Wun Fan saw that the three of them had stepped past the boundary line. He turned around and started giving Chai Chau Chin a big speech. In truth, he was counting how many enemies there were. He asked in his mind, “Old Lei, lend me your radar!”
Old Lei didn’t understand what a ‘radar’ was, but he knew Wun Fan well enough to understand him. He was probably asking for him to sense the enemies’ power and relay the information to him.
He immediately replied, “Thirteen people in total. One novice and one intermediate Martial Scholar, two peak Martial Vassals, three advanced, four intermediate and two novice.”
Wun Fan felt his head hurt when he heard this, “They’re just a random squad and their weakest member is a Martial Vassal?” As a Martial Mortal, he was incredibly outgunned!
However, what Wun Fan didn’t know was that the Flower Thief Squad had higher martial realm requirements for its members due to their unique responsibilities. That was why this squad had so many powerful martial artists in it. Squad members of the Green Wolf Gang often referred to each other as brothers. However, the Flower Thief Squad was unique in that there were often multiple second, third and fourth brothers at the same time. That was because the turnover rate for the Flower Thief Squad was exceptionally high.
A sense of brotherhood was what kept a gang of ruffians and bandits like them together.
Wun Fan knew it was time when he saw that all three of them had stepped past the boundary line. He looked up and smiled mischievously as he said, “An accident is about to happen.”
Hung Yu Fei and Fung Ching knew that this was the signal. The three of them immediately shouted in unison, “Martial soul, descend!”
Soul energy surged across Wun Fan’s body. He waved his hand and shouted, “Smoke!” A dozen smoke bombs appeared in his hand from the storage ring on his little finger. He tossed them into the air.
“Lethality: Dragon’s Might, Fierce Blast!” he shouted. A shockwave of death aura blasted out of Wun Fan’s palm, shooting the smoke bombs toward the bandits. The smoke bombs exploded and filled the entire area with smoke. The smoke irritated their eyes and noses, causing them to cough, sneeze and tear up.
This was a scheme that Wun Fan had concocted. Naturally, he was going to be pulling out all the tricks.
“Cough! Cough!” The members of the Green Wolf Gang were thrown into confusion by this sudden turn of events. No one expected their weaker opponents to be the ones to take the initiative. Chai Chau Chin immediately shouted, “Don’t panic! Don’t freak out! Everybody retreat and step out of the smoke first. Do not use any martial techniques!”
After all, Chai Chau Chin could feel the guard’s hostility toward them. He didn’t want to give him any excuse to attack. The squad members quickly retreated after hearing their captain’s orders. They were going to rally outside the smoke, but the radius was very large and they couldn’t escape from it even after several seconds.
“Lethality: Wondrous Archery, Willow-Point Shot,” said Fung Ching. Soul energy surged to his eyes and his arms at the same time. His muscles were strengthened and he pulled the bow to a full draw in an instant. Meanwhile, Wun Fan closed his eyes and used his mental energy to sense his surroundings instead. Li’l Black’s existence made him incredibly sensitive to all auras!
Wun Fan targeted the two novice Martial Vassals first. He grasped the location of the two weakest auras and pointed out their direction to Fung Ching. He then corrected his aim, “Higher! One arrow each, aiming for the neck!”
“Alright!” said Fung Ching. He attached five percent of his soul energy to each arrow and quickly released two arrows in the two directions! The arrows cut across the air and vanished into the smoke.
Thud! Thud! The two Martial Vassals heard the sound of an arrow burying itself into flesh before they could even react. They had been hit in the neck and killed by Fung Ching instantly.
Chai Chau Chin was an intermediate Martial Scholar and the captain of the squad for good reason. He knew that the archer was sniping them the instant he heard the bowstring snap. He had no time to do a headcount of his subordinates. His only option was to change strategies. He bent down and continued retreating as he shouted, “Protect your vitals, bend down and run!”
The squad members immediately bent down and started shuffling away. This didn’t slow them down too much and they were starting to get away.
Wun Fan closed his eyes again when he heard Chai Chau Chin’s orders. He sensed the enemies’ locations and confirmed that the two intermediate Martial Vassals were standing in a line. He immediately gave out another order, “Do a piercing shot next!”
Fung Ching was glad to be exterminating these evil bandits. He felt no guilt at all executing these human scum! He put on another arrow and drew his bow fully. He imbued the arrow with ten percent of his soul energy and twisted the soul energy around it like a corkscrew until it glowed green. He let out a furious shout, “Lethality: Concentrated Piercing Shot!”
Wun Fan had to restrain the two targets, so he exhausted all of his soul energy on his next move, “Lethality: Dragon’s Draw, Forceful Attraction!”
A powerful suction force locked onto the two intermediate Martial Vassals. The two bandits were surprised by this sudden attack and immediately lost their balance. They fell face-first to the ground. Wun Fan might only be an intermediate Martial Mortal, but his soul energy was incredibly pure, making his martial techniques more powerful than they should be.
“Adjust your angle, kneel and shoot!” said Wun Fan as he pointed down. Fung Ching didn’t hesitate. He immediately got down on one knee, aimed and let loose. The bowstring snapped loudly. Green light cut across the air, slicing the smoke in half. It was a tremendously powerful shot!
A single arrow pierced two hearts!
The two intermediate Martial Vassals fell dead on the spot!
Hung Yu Fei saw this and couldn’t wait to get in on the action. Wun Fan saw this. He rolled his eyes and said, “Remember what I said.”
Hung Yu Fei pouted and said, “I know, I know. If I don’t listen to you, I’m out of this team.”
She wasn’t happy that Wun Fan was the one giving out all the orders at first, but when the battle started, she was impressed. It had not even been a minute since the fight started and they had already killed four of their enemies. Since when were Martial Vassals so easily killed?
I’m glad this kid isn’t my enemy, thought Hung Yu Fei. There was nothing scary about a powerful enemy, but a sinister enemy who hides in the shadows was absolutely terrifying.
However, the world is uncertain and unpredictable. Perhaps, maybe, sometime soon in the future, Hung Yu Fei would come to understand that.
Wun Fan closed his eyes again. He could sense the bandits getting further and further away from them. He immediately gave out another order, “Barrage.” At the same time, Old Lei was replenishing Wun Fan’s soul energy with the aether in the Spiritstartler Ring, without any word from Wun Fan.
Fung Ching tapped his quiver with his left hand when he heard the order. He used his soul energy expertly. The soul energy rushed into the quiver and sent the arrows flying into the air. The two dozen arrows fell down one by one. Fung Ching got down on one knee, catching the arrows and shooting them one after another as he said, “Lethality: Flowing Tailwind Arrows!”
Wun Fan continued pointing with his fingers. He was Fung Ching’s eyes. Wherever he pointed, Fung Ching would fire. In just fifteen seconds, over two dozen arrows had vanished into the smoke. He only had three arrows left in his hand.
The members of the Green Wolf Gang were suffering greatly in the smoke. Even bent down and crawling, they had no way of dodging the arrows. Five or six of them had been hit. Fortunately, they were not hit in the vitals, which meant they were not in any mortal danger. However, one of the peak Martial Vassals couldn’t endure this suffocating feeling any longer. The Green Wolf Gang had never suffered such humiliation. They were always the ones ambushing their opponents and planning traps, not the other way around. He immediately summoned his martial soul and covered his body with soul energy, shouting, “Martial soul, descend!”
“Lethality: Wolf’s Iron Body!”
Clang. Clang. Clang. His skin instantly toughened and he easily took on Fung Ching’s attack. After all, this technique wasn’t a powerful attack, but a barrage meant for harassment.
However, when the wolves are hunting sheep, they forget that a tiger is waiting to pounce. Chai Chau Chin knew his subordinate had screwed up when he used that martial technique. He quickly shouted, “Dai Ngau, run past the boundary line now!”
However, a nightmarish voice rang out before he could even respond, “No fighting within a hundred meters of the Guild. The Guild’s truce is not a just a slogan, it is a promise we will enforce with blood.”
Schwing. The sound of a saber leaving its scabbard could be heard, followed by a stern voice, “Lethality: White Blade Severs the Wind.”
A powerful saber energy sliced the smoke in half and decapitated the bandit with ease. Violent air pressure was scattered in every direction from the force of the slash.
The smoke was almost completely dispelled by this attack alone and the Green Wolf Gang became able to see again. Chai Chau Chin was the first to escape the smoke. He knew that his reasoning was flimsy, but he still stared at the guard furiously as he said, “We were just defending ourselves. Why did the Guild attack us and kill our people? Do you think the Green Wolf Gang is an easy target?”
“No fighting within a hundred meters of the Guild,” said the guard with a cold sneer. It was obvious that he was picking on the Green Wolf Gang. He looked at them disdainfully and said, “I don’t care what you people get up to in your own time, but the rules of the Martial Artist Guild are absolute. Feel free to draw your weapon if you’re unhappy. Don’t try and use the Green Wolf Gang as a shield. I couldn’t care less.”
The guard lifted his head and stared at Chai Chau Chin. He was eager to fight. In fact, he hoped Chai Chau Chin would attack him. That way, he would have his reason to strike back. The Green Wolf Gang was a tumor in this world. Even one surviving member was a blight that needed to be rid of.
Those who do good are helped by others; those who do evil face no mercy. That was the way of the world and the way it should be.210Please respect copyright.PENANAwHJVScbEtv
