“Did you hear? This is the second year the third young master of the Wun Clan hasn’t been able to break through sixth-level Martial Disciple.”
“Wun Fan, Wun Fan. Heh, he lives up to his name. He’s as unremarkable as they come.”
“Truly the strongest sixth-level.”
“There’s a cripple in the Wun Clan; his name is Wun Fan, haha…”
It had been three years. During this time, Wun Fan had to endure endless scorn and mockery, all because his powers couldn’t grow anymore. He was crowned with the title ‘the Wun Clan cripple’ and was constantly referred to derisively as the ‘strongest sixth-level’.
All the gossip and rumors were nothing to Wun Fan’s ears. However, he knew that his father, gramps, and Wun Siu Lan were very worried about him. In particular, his father had hustled and toiled for years to cure his ‘disease’.
His failure had brought tremendous pressure on Wun Ching Yeung. Wun Fan had a nose for politics, so it wasn’t hard for him to find out that the second elder had often used him as an attack on Wun Ching Yeung: he must have been criticized countless times for devoting so much of the clan’s resources to an adopted child.
That was why excelling in his training was the best way for Wun Fan to make up for the trouble he had caused. His reason for doing it was simple: he just wanted to protect his family.
He waved his hand and shook his leg. He could feel power surge out from all over his body. Power rushed out of his meridians to reinforce his muscles. It felt good. Wun Fan thought to himself, “Is this the power of a Martial Mortal?”
He couldn’t help but channel soul energy to his fist and leap. He punched at a nearby tree. The wind rustled and a small hole was easily punched into the tree. His fist was embedded deep in the wood. Wun Fan then whipped his leg at a nearby boulder, causing a loud crack in the air. He pulverized the boulder with ease.
Wun Fan resisted the urge to howl and shout. He held back his excitement and enjoyed the exhilaration brought by his newfound powers.
He never expected the power of a Martial Mortal to be so much more than a Martial Disciple. For a moment, Wun Fan couldn’t help but yearn for the even higher realms of power. He looked inside his body and found that there was still plenty of medicinal power left inside, even though his meridians were already fully healed. This power was scattered throughout his body and was slowly evaporating through his skin.
Wouldn’t that be a tremendous waste of such useful energy?
An idea suddenly came to Wun Fan. He wasted no time and used his soul energy to compress and direct the remainder of the pill’s power into his Wind Pond Point to further temper the pressure point. Wun Fan’s innate sixth senses told him that this bold move would yield great benefits in the future.
Inside the Spiritstartler Ring, Old Lei watched the flow of soul energy in Wun Fan’s body silently. He was proud. He didn’t expect Wun Fan to breakthrough Martial Mortal on his own, without needing any advice from his. Moreover, the meridians had healed completely as well. His worries were gone completely. The excess medicinal power would dissipate eventually, even if Wun Fan did nothing about it.
However, it was too late when he realized what Wun Fan was trying to do. He immediately shouted, “Kid, what are you doing?”
Old Lei panicked. He had been distracted by his thoughts for a moment and forgot that this kid was no ordinary teenager. He was bold and reckless beyond imagination. Wun Fan dared to let him touch his soul, even back when he was just a sixth-level Martial Disciple, let alone now when he was already a Martial Mortal.
A strenuous expression appeared on Wun Fan’s face when he managed to compress all the medicinal power in the Wind Pond Point. He tried to draw on his soul energy, but they did not obey his command. There was far too much medicinal power in his Wind Pond Point. The aether contained within was reacting with Wun Fan’s innate mental energy uncontrollably, forming even more soul energy and increasing the amount in his body. Meanwhile, as Wun Fan was new to soul energy, he wasn’t able to control it perfectly. Part of the soul energy broke off like runaway horses and started to slowly seep into the Wind Mansion Point.
Upon seeing this, Old Lei said, “Kid, immediately channel all your soul energy into the Spiritstartler Ring.”
Under Old Lei’s control, the Spiritstartler Ring quickly started absorbing all the soul energy starting from the Point of Joining Valleys in Wun Fan’s right hand. The sudden force immediately drew in much of the soul energy in Wun Fan’s ninth and tenth vital points.
“Old Lei…I can’t hold on any longer,” Wun Fan’s face was flushed red from the effort. His eyebrows were knitted together tightly. He could no longer control his soul energy. The soul energy within his Wind Pond Point saw an opening to the side and immediately burst out, rushing forward like water from a broken dam. They surged into the Wind Mansion Point.
The large amount of rushing soul energy forcefully broke through into the Wind Mansion Point. The sudden stimulation of the pressure point caused intense pain on the back of Wun Fan’s neck, causing him to grab the spot with his hand. However, the Pill of Meridian Fortification’s wondrous effects were still present in the medicinal power.
As the soul energy surged into the pressure point violently and the medicinal power mended the damage, the Wind Mansion Point was rapidly tempered to completion. Old Lei shouted in a flustered voice from within the ring, “Kid, prepare yourself!”
Wun Fan had no time to react. He suddenly realized that he was no longer able to absorb any aether through breathing. The soul energy throughout his body was also starting to slowly break down into aether once more, which dissipated into the air with every exhale.
The most unnerving thing was how restless he felt!
He suddenly felt incredibly irritable and an intense feeling of unease clouded his heart. He could not sit still, he could not breathe quietly, his heartbeat was erratic, and everything felt wrong. It felt like every second of being was immensely unnatural and immensely uncomfortable. Every single part of his body was on edge, as if there were countless ants biting him all over.
He opened his eyes, anxiety in his eyes. He felt his chest contract and his breath was short.
“Old Lei, what’s happening…?” Wun Fan could not muster any strength at all. He was known for his calm demeanour even in his past life, yet right now he couldn’t even control his emotions.
“You idiot! Did I tell you to break through your pressure point?” Old Lei’s tone was filled with exasperation. He continued to absorb soul energy from Wun Fan’s body.
However, no matter how he tried, Wun Fan’s Wind Mansion Point had already stopped growing in strength. In fact, it was starting to stabilize and the soul energy was showing signs of rushing into the next pressure point. Old Lei examined Wun Fan’s body with his mental energy, but he had no time to even sigh. He said solemnly, “It’s here.”
“It’s here?” Wun Fan was confused. Then, a strange gust suddenly appeared in the mountain. Clouds gathered, pushed together by the strange winds, forming a large gray cloth in the skies and revealing the bright moon. The dark clouds grew smaller and smaller, but the energy they contained rose by magnitudes. Lightning crackled violently inside, thunder booming across the horizon.
“This is…heavenly tribulation?” Wun Fan was stunned for a moment. He stared at the flashing lightning and cracking thunder in the skies, his heart beating violently in his chest. He could feel the power…no, ‘power’ wasn’t a sufficient word to describe this.
This was heavenly might!
Wun Fan felt a sense of danger and pressure as he had never felt before from the heavenly might of the clouds.
Old Lei’s silhouette appeared from out of the ring. He lifted his head and looked at the storm in the sky. It flickered seven different colors. His expression was one of disbelief. He cried, “How could it possibly be the Seven Lightning Dominions?”
“Hm? The Seven Lightning Dominions?” Wun Fan didn’t understand. He looked at Old Lei.
The old man’s eyes looked back into Wun Fan’s own. His eyes were filled with panic. Even he had only heard of this heavenly tribulation, but never seen it with his own eyes. The dark clouds grew smaller as more and more of them gathered together. The moon was even more visible now. However, the power contained within the clouds only continued to grow. A horrifying aura brewed within it. Old Lei could faintly sense the hostility contained inside.
People of old told stories of the tribulation of the Seven Lightning Dominions. It was a tribulation only unleashed upon the most talented, the most sinful or the ones least tolerated by the heavens itself.
This tribulation was a death sentence. Old Lei could not understand. Why did the heavens have so much hatred for an eleven-year-old boy?264Please respect copyright.PENANArZe5OC9GmO
