Despite her father’s outrageous demands, Ng Kit said nothing at all. That very night, he immediately prepared to sell his valuable assets. He continued working hard every day, all for the sake of saving up those thirty gold coins. Ho Siu Nam also started selling the ponies at a higher price without telling her father. She was saving money of her own to help Ng Kit.
Wun Fan interrupted Ho Siu Nam, smiling as he said, “But what’s the reason you’re angry?”
“Angry?” said Ho Siu Nam in confusion. She didn’t understand what Wun Fan was referring to. Wun Fan yawned and explained slowly, “Your eyes tell me that you’re angry. No one understands what anger looks like better than me. I’ve seen far too much anger in my life.”
“Mm…?” uttered Ho Siu Nam. She couldn’t make heads or tails of Wun Fan’s comment. Her brows knit together and she put a hand to her head as she thought in silence. Wun Fan smiled when he saw this and didn’t stop her. This was something only she herself could resolve.
There was a faint hint of anger in her eyes every time she mentioned Ng Kit.
Suddenly, a piercing scream came from the floor above, slicing across the air. Wun Fan leapt to his feet and lunged at the stairs. He arrived at the first floor in just two lunges, only to run straight into Hung Yu Fei. The two of them tumbled down the stairs.
Crack! Wun Fan crashed hard against the ground floor with Hung Yu Fei in his arms. He felt his back burn with pain from the crash. Hung Yu Fei’s weight had added to the impact. He squinted and tried to ignore the pain, but he couldn’t help but shout, “Shit! What are you doing?”
Suddenly, he felt a smooth sensation against his hand, which was holding on to Hung Yu Fei’s shoulder. He opened his eyes and saw white skin everywhere.
Hung Yu Fei only had a towel wrapped around her.
Hung Yu Fei’s head was resting against Wun Fan’s stomach. Her shoulder was smooth as milk. Her chest wasn’t fully covered up. Those weren’t small at all. At a glance, they looked about the size of an adult’s palm. What sorcery was this?
Her short hair was still wet, though curling at the ends because of the water. A single bead of water slipped off her forehead. Paired with her innocent eyes and close proximity, she dealt a devastating blow to Wun Fan. He was stunned for a moment and couldn’t react at all.
The bead of water rolled down her cheek and past her lips.
Who would’ve thought that Hung Yu Fei was so bold? She actually came out of the shower with just a towel around her in front of a man.
Wun Fan was only eleven year’s old, after all. Hung Yu Fei didn’t think of him as a man at all. The only other person in the room was a girl. Given Hung Yu Fei’s wilful personality, it was no surprise that she didn’t care for etiquette or traditions. It was good enough that she wasn’t coming out of the shower completely naked.
If it was any other girl in her position, they would probably be dying of embarrassment to have been seen by Wun Fan like this.
“There’s a spider…” Hung Yu Fei shuddered on top of Wun Fan. She looked terrified and clung onto Wun Fan’s shirt tightly. It was a stark contrast to her wilful and unruly side from this morning. A spoiled, unreasonable girl who’s afraid of a tiny spider. What a juxtaposition.
For a moment, Wun Fan actually found her cute.
He gave himself a big slap at the thought of that. How could he find such an unreasonable and horrible girl cute? He came to his senses and shoved Hung Yu Fei aside, right onto the ground.
Bang. Hung Yu Fei clasped her elbow and gasped in pain, “You don’t know how to treat a lady well at all.”
Wun Fan rolled his eyes and said unamusedly, “You’re no lady.”
Wun Fan didn’t dare look at her again after saying that. He leapt onto the first floor with two hops. He walked into the room and saw water and footprints everywhere. Even the bedsheets were soaked. He saw chest wraps in a corner of the room and understood what that sorcery that hid her chest size had been.
He looked around the room carefully and saw a spider the size of a palm devouring a smaller spider. He found it cruel.
He had heard of female spiders eating their male partners after mating. Was it because they were angry?
He spotted a jade hairpin on the table. He picked it up and channelled soul energy into his hand, enhancing his strength by several fold. He pinched it tightly between two fingers and flung it. The hairpin shot forward and hit its target, pinning it to the wall. The male spider had been avenged.
Wun Fan stepped out of the room when he saw that his job was done and found Hung Yu Fei waiting outside the door. She looked flustered as she said, “Did you kill it?”
“Mm,” said Wun Fan, trying his best to pretend to be calm. He moved his gaze upward, but Hung Yu Fei was 160 centimeters tall, about a whole head taller than him. Even if he tried to shift gaze up…
“Wew…” Hung Yu Fei immediately let out a breath of relief. She patted her chest, sending ripples across her modest assets. She suddenly let out a weird scream, “Then did you clean up the mess?”
“No,” said Wun Fan simply, before heading downstairs. Hung Yu Fei was speechless. She was about to start shouting at him when Ho Siu Nam stepped forward and said, “Miss Hung, let me help you clean it up.”
And so Hung Yu Fei paused in her tracks.

Ho Siu Nam returned to the living room after cleaning everything up. She smiled, “It was a pair of spiders, I see. The female spider was quite big. No wonder Miss Hung was scared.”
She was able to point out that the big one was the female spider. It was only natural that she also knew of the spiders’ mating habits. Wun Fan responded, “Maybe she was angry? Otherwise, why else would she ignore her husband’s efforts and choose to so viciously eat him after they mated?
“Perhaps it’s in her nature, or perhaps it’s because of her bloodline. The female spider was blessed by her bloodline and grew to her large size because of it. She blamed the male spider for being useless before they mated and devoured him after they mated to fulfil her own needs and the needs of her offspring. That female spider never ever wondered if she herself had tried hard enough to change fate.”
Wun Fan grabbed his head with both hands and snapped it to the right. He sighed and continued, “She was only projecting her anger onto the male spider because she couldn’t change the shackles of fate.”
Wun Fan gave a whole speech, speaking clearly and yet in vague terms, seemingly on an irrelevant subject and yet subtly hiding wisdom in his words. His words had both hidden meanings and direct advice behind them. They seeped into Ho Siu Nam’s mind and forced her to reflect.
Wun Fan saw that his words had an effect and said nothing more. That was all that was needed. Even medicine was best in proper doses. He suddenly clasped his head and exclaimed, “Right! I think I left this morning without paying my bill…”
“Well, I suppose I’ll pay it together with the fee for tonight’s stay,” said Wun Fan as he took out two gold coins and placed it on the table in front of Ho Siu Nam. She said with a panicked expression, “That’s too much money, sir. It’s just a meal and one night’s stay.”
Two gold coins was enough to buy a plot of land in Ho Village. The fact that Ng Kit had been requested to come up with thirty gold coins as dowry was more than enough to reveal Ho Siu Nam’s father’s true intentions.
“That’s enough. I broke the stables this morning as well. Think of it as compensation for that. Just think of anything extra as a gift for your marriage,” said Wun Fan as he pushed the two coins further before Ho Siu nam. He wasn’t lacking in money anyway. It might have been difficult for him to produce a sum like this before he met Old Lei, but things were different now. He believed deeply in his own talent. Money was only temporary, a tool to help him with his training.
Power was the only true asset worth holding.
Ho Siu Nam had trouble refusing Wun Fan’s goodwill and kept the coins. She said with a grateful expression, “Thank you, sir.”
It seemed like she had met a good person today, someone who helped her face her problems and deal with them. She looked at Wun Fan intently, wondering how an eleven-year-old boy could come up with the wisdom to give a speech like that.
“Hmph! Wun Fan, you should pay me compensation as well,” said Hung Yu Fei. She had finished bathing and had changed into a pink pajamas. The pajamas outlined her figure well. Paired with her short hair, she was brimming with youth and energy. In particular, without her chest wraps holding her back, her chest was looking much more formidable. Even Wun Fan had to begrudgingly admit that she looked cute.
Why would a girl her age use chest wraps?
She had just walked to the living room when she heard Wun Fan say something about compensation and remembered something. She pointed at Wun Fan and said angrily, “How dare you use my hairpin to…”
“Then I’ll pay you back, along with the life of the spider that I took with it,” said Wun Fan with a smile so mischievous, it made Hung Yu Fei uneasy. Now that he knew this woman’s weakness, it would be stupid of him not to take full advantage of it.
“Never mind, I’m a generous person,” said Hung Yu Fei before furiously walking to the stairs. She gave Ho Siu Nam instructions to take out the bath water before walking up.
Just then, she heard Wun Fan mentioning that he wanted a bath to and came up with an idea. She laughed gloatingly and said, “Little boy, if you don’t have warm water, I have plenty of red ore powder to spare, you know? All you have to do is call me…”
Wun Fan interrupted her and said disdainfully, “Save it! I won’t use your goddamned things even if it means I freeze to death.”
