The hand he had on Wun Fan’s shoulder immediately tightened into a firm grip, the fingers digging into his collarbone.
“Ugh.”
Wun Fan winced in pain and his body shirked backward instinctively. However, Wun Ping’s grip was as firm as steel. Wun Fan was finally infuriated, but he was no match for Wun Ping. He kept the smile up and tried to smooth things over. “Haha, you’re hilarious, brother. The challenge can wait until the clan banquet, yes? There’ll be plenty of time for you to show your skills then!”
Revenge is a dish best served cold. Wun Fan didn’t mind waiting.
“Haha, I love pushing you around. You’re not gonna accept my challenge later anyway, so why don’t you just let me take a look at what you can do now.”
Watching Wun Fan concede again and again made Wun Ping feel great. He started to get increasingly disrespectful with his words. However, his continuous provocation had finally crossed a line for a certain someone. Wun Siu Lan pushed with her feet and swung a fist at Wun Ping. The wind whipped loudly.
Wun Ping showed no desire to be involved in a fight against Wun Siu Lan. He leapt several metres away with a single kick. However, Wun Siu Lan simply took another step and kept up with him.
“Hmph.”
Wun Siu Lan grunted coldly and hurled her tiny fist into Wun Ping’s face, leaving a big black bruise.
“Aah…”
Wun Ping held a hand over his face. He could feel everyone’s gaze directed toward the bruise. How could someone as arrogant as him possibly stand for such humiliation?
With a loud clang, Wun Ping unsheathed his sword. The branch disciples around them gasped in shock. A bit of fighting here and there was no big deal. After all, competition in a big clan was beneficial to encouraging improvement. The disciples would improve faster if they had a little peer pressure to work with.
That said, it was still crucial to hold back when sparring with each other. Yet, Wun Ping had drawn his sword. This was no longer just an ordinary spar.
“Someone go notify the Enforcer’s Hall already,” a disciple cried out loud.
“You idiot. Who do you think manages the Enforcer’s Hall? You think they can tell Young Master Ping what to do?” another person replied in a mocking tone.
“What a joke. If the Enforcer’s Hall could keep the young master in line, he wouldn’t be who he is now.”
Wun Fan knew how strong Wun Siu Lan was. Wun Ping was not her match. However, she probably wouldn’t be able to hold back her anger now that Wun Ping had drawn his sword. Today was the clan banquet, and it would be bad if things were to spiral out of control and someone got injured.
Just as Wun Fan was worrying about Wun Siu Lan, he sensed something out of nowhere. Someone was observing the three of them. He smiled and stopped fretting over the confrontation.
Wun Siu Lan showed no fear even with Wun Ping’s sword drawn. Instead, she seemed even more eager to fight now. She wanted to teach this moron a lesson he wouldn’t forget. Wun Siu Lan mobilised the power in her and the air turned warm and dry.
Wun Fan shouted when he saw this, “Siu Lan, don’t!”
However, Wun Siu Lan was in no mood to stop now. Just then, a loud, booming voice came from the sky.
“Lethality: Sword Locks.”
Several energy swords appeared out of thin air around Wun Siu Lan and Wun Ping. The swords stacked together and interlocked, restraining their limbs like a series of locks. Wun Siu Lan’s rage was at its peak. She refused to stop. Just as she mustered her powers to break free, the voice from earlier spoke again.
“Lethality: Thousand Sword Locks.”
Several dozen swords restrained Wun Siu Lan along her waist, her neck and her armpits. Wun Siu Lan still wanted to resist when a silhouette appeared between the two young clan members. That person clenched his fist and the levitating energy swords tightened in an instant, rendering Wun Siu Lan completely immobile. White hair, white brows, white beard and a stern and intimidating face; all the disciples bowed and greeted the man.
“Great elder.”
“What nonsense. Two lineage disciples fighting like this? What do you take the rules of the Enforcer’s Hall to be?”
The great elder was a little frustrated at himself. He should have stopped them earlier. Tonight was the clan banquet and all the branch disciples were attending. It was disgraceful to let them see the lineage disciples squabbling amongst themselves.
“Gramps, he called Fan a bastard. I’ll beat him to death…”
“Enough, girl!” the great elder shouted sternly, looking quite cross now. He loved Wun Siu Lan dearly, but he couldn’t let her do as she pleased.
Wun Siu Lan didn’t want to just let things go, but seeing how angry the great elder was, she had no choice but to give in. Her eyes under that mask were locked onto Wun Ping. If looks could kill, Wun Ping would be slowly dying of a thousand cuts now.
The great elder waved his hand and the energy swords vanished into thin air. This impressed the disciples greatly and they couldn’t help but stare at him.
“Great eld…”
The great elder slapped Wun Ping across the face with the back of his hand before he could finish. He glared at the teenager angrily. Wun Ping clasped his face with one hand and looked back, dumbfounded. For a moment, he didn’t dare to move a muscle.
“Wun Fan is the adopted son of the clan master and third young master of the clan. If the son of the clan master is a bastard, what does that make you, huh? Don’t think that you can say whatever you like simply because your father is the second elder. If I hear you say the word ‘bastard’ again, I will slap that mouth of yours into pieces. We’ll see what your father can do about that.”
The scolding caused Wun Ping to blush in shame. After all, he was being reprimanded before all these non-house disciples. He could even see some of them laughing at him. He made a mental note of who they were and swore to himself to get his revenge on them.
A lineage disciple, and yet, such a small heart.
The great elder had arrived at the banquet a while ago. Naturally, he heard the entire conversation. He didn’t much care for their argument initially, as it wasn’t exactly appropriate for the adults to interfere in these disagreements amongst the younger generation. Competition was what led to improvements in a big clan. As long as things didn’t go overboard, the older generation would turn a blind eye to things. However, Wun Siu Lan was clearly beyond furious, so he had no choice but to step in then.
“I understand, but…”
Wun Ping wanted to defend himself and point out Wun Siu Lan’s transgression when the great elder slapped him twice more. This time, he hit even harder. Wun Ping’s lips were bleeding on both corners. He was stunned. He didn’t even know why he had been slapped, and he could only stare at the great elder.
“First you speak without discretion, next you draw your sword against a member of the clan. Have you no shame? What will the Wun Clan look like to the rest of the world? Are we barbarians who resort to violence at every turn?”
“I…”
Wun Ping wanted to speak up again and the great elder slapped him three more times. Wun Ping was utterly speechless. His cheeks were swelling when he looked towards the great elder for an explanation.
“And that’s purely because I wanted to do that. What are you looking at?”
The great elder was on a roll and felt quite inclined to slap the teenager again.
However, a voice stopped his hand in its tracks. “Great elder, that should suffice, yes?”
A slender man dressed in purple and red robes walked out, looking quite noble. He had narrow slit-eyes, but they had an electric vigour to them, as if he was constantly scheming something.
“Second elder.”
Wun Fan and Wun Siu Lan bowed in the presence of the second elder. The disciples of a big clan had to show etiquette. The great elder simply glanced at the second elder and snorted coldly. He waved his sleeve ferociously and turned to walk towards the platform.
However, he stopped after a few steps. He had something he had to get out of his mouth, a fishbone stuck in his throat. “If you keep spoiling Wun Ping in this manner, it will lead him to his demise one day.”
“Well said, great elder. I will teach him manners, just as well as you have taught little Siu Lan.” the second elder replied sarcastically. He glanced at Siu Lan, a hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes. He then walked by Wun Ping’s side and wiped the blood off of his lips. He whispered something to him and Wun Ping’s upset expression faded.
The great elder snorted at the sight of this and stepped onto the platform. The matter had finally come to an end.
Wun Siu Lan took a deep breath and calmed herself down. She tried her best to reign her anger in, but she still couldn’t help but glare angrily at Wun Ping, making him feel a little nervous at the way she looked at him.
He spat on the ground and returned a hateful glare. However, as he looked her up and down, lust rose in his mind as he thought to himself, This bitch doesn’t have much in the way of curves, but she does have an attractive air to her. It’s a pity about that face. Maybe if the candles were blown out?
Wun Fan walked by Wun Siu Lan’s side and held her hand as they walked up the steps.
“You really didn’t have to do that, kid,” he said.
Wun Siu Lan replied cheekily, showing none of the fury from earlier, “Hehe, no one can insult you, unless it’s over my dead body. You’re the one who taught me that. I still remember that clearly.”
“Siu Lan…” Wun Fan felt warm in his heart when he heard that. So this is how it feels to have a family to stand by you.676Please respect copyright.PENANAOZBgVJQTws
