The southernmost point of the Nap-Lan Empire was Green Sea Forest. The forest was boundless in size and daunting as a green sea, hence its name. What lurked within the forest was a mystery and no one knew what existed on the other side. During the ancient times, where legends and myths existed side by side and powerful martial artists roamed the earth, an incredibly powerful individual made a decision. He decided to venture to the deepest point of Green Sea Forest. His disciples waited for him outside the forest for a hundred days, until he finally emerged. He said nothing of his experience and made a simple map, dividing the forest into six zones. The outermost outskirts, the outskirts, the central zone, the inner zone, the forest’s core, and the forbidden grounds.
The powerful man repeated his warning that no martial artist should venture into the forbidden grounds. Those who did would suffer painfully and vanished without a trace. His words were passed down from generation to generation, along with the map he made. After centuries of exploration, the martial artists were finally able to assign coordinates to the various zones.
Taking the forbidden grounds as the origin with (0,0) as its coordinates, the entrance of Green Sea Forest would be (-21314, 0). As for the outermost coordinates were negative rather than positive? Because no one could say for certain that the forbidden grounds were the actual deepest point of Green Sea Forest!
Even the few incredibly powerful individuals over the years didn’t dare to enter the forest’s core. Martial artists who successfully escaped from the inner zone spoke of hordes of monstrous beasts and other horrendous creatures that no human could possibly defeat. There was no way that anyone could venture even deeper than that. Yet, strangely enough, every last magical beast that resided in Green Sea Forest would never venture out of it. Even if every single member of their pack had been slaughtered, even if they were overwhelmed with rage and the thirst for vengeance, they would stop pursuing the martial artists once they left Green Sea Forest.
That was also why Green Sea Forest never attracted the attention of truly powerful martial artists. Most people only regarded Green Sea Forest as a place for training. Some even dismissed the story of Green Sea Forest as nothing more than an ancient legend. Slowly, with the passage of time, Green Sea Forest became a means by which humans could hunt magical beasts for inner cores. A rough survey estimated that over fifty percent of the inner core traded in Nap-Lan Empire came from Green Sea Forest. One could only imagine how big of an industry it was.
The second number in the coordinates indicated the horizontal direction from the entrance. Right was positive and left was negative. Every additional point of the coordinates represented 670 feet of actual distance.
So how big exactly was Green Sea Forest?
Three feet was roughly one meter, so 670 feet was approximately two hundred meters, which was one-fifth of a kilometer. In other words, a rough estimate would put Green Sea Forest at over 4,000 kilometers in length!
Can you imagine a distance of 4,000 kilometers?
Wun Fan recalled a mission he had to undertake back on Earth. He had to flee from Taipei all the way to Hong Kong, a distance of over 800 kilometers. Meanwhile, Green Sea Forest was so large that it was five times that distance! Moreover, you cannot ride a horse while deep in the forest. After all, there was no peaceful road you could ride on. It was a perilous journey filled with danger and death!
Thus, the wolfape extermination’s coordinates being (-19999, 20) meant that it was 1315 coordinate points deep into the forest. That was 263 kilometers and four kilometers to the right as well. It wasn’t a very long journey, but it was by no means a short one either. It would most definitely take a minimum of two days to complete it.
Wun Fan grabbed his chin and thought for a momenta after hearing Fung Ching’s explanation. He thought this matter would be easy, but he never expected it to be so troublesome. It seemed like danger lurked around every corner. However, his eyes suddenly gleamed as he said, “Danger danger chicken dinner! There’s nothing to be gained if there’s no danger.”
He was very excited about hunting magical beasts. How much more powerful could he become after this adventure? He couldn’t help but lick his lips at the thought of his death aura making him stronger.
Meanwhile, Hung Yu Fei had not been listening closely to the conversation. She just needed to contribute her fighting strength anyway, so she didn’t see a point to it. This was especially after fight with the Green Wolf Gang members. Hung Yu Fei knew how careful and cunning Wun Fan was. Naturally, she didn’t need to put in so much effort into thinking for herself.
Of course, if Wun Fan were to know what Hung Yu Fei was thinking, he would never let her off easy! Those who contributed nothing and took a share of the pie were always the most despicable scum!
Wun Fan asked Fung Ching several other questions after that, to which Fung Ching gave very comprehensive answers. If it wasn’t for Hung Yu Fei devouring the food and causing the plates to turn empty and the tea in his hand turning cold, Wun Fan wouldn’t even have realized time passing so quickly.
Wun Fan started organizing his thoughts. He used the chopstick as a brush, dipping it in the tea and drawing on the wooden table. He sunk deep in thought. Occasionally, he would look Fung Ching and Hung Yu Fei up and down as he continued brooding. Hung Yu Fei couldn’t help but speak up, “Hey, kid, I know I’m pretty, but isn’t a little rude to stare like that?”
Wun Fan couldn’t help but let out a mischievous smile again. He quickly stopped his bad habit, but his eyes were still gleaming. He waved his hand and beckoned his two companions closer, “Come closer, I have a plan.”202Please respect copyright.PENANAAFm4iEUcNM
Chai Chau Chin stared at the three kids as they whispered to each other and laughed. He felt uneasy and that feeling only got stronger with time. In particular, that young boy who seemed completely unconcerned about the situation made him feel an odd sense of pressure. After all, Wun Fan’s behavior was completely unlike a kid of his age. The air he gave off instilled fear in anyone who dared to look at him.
Could he be a noble? Chai Chau Chin shook his head and dismissed the idea. What nobleman would leave behind their guards when going out on an expedition? Moreover, nobles had powerful backgrounds and even bigger egos. If any of them were to run into trouble like this, they would have already given out the clan they belonged to.
The squad member that left the guild earlier came back. He leaned by Chai Chau Chin’s ears and whispered something. It seemed like he had confirmed something and Chai Chau Chin was satisfied with the answer. “Mm, you did well,” he said, before staring at Wun Fan viciously. He felt secure in his victory now and couldn’t wait to see how the brat died.
Wun Fan grabbed Fung Ching’s hand and gave him a signal with his eyes. Fung Ching stood up, packed his things and walked towards the first floor. Chai Chau Chin nodded his head and gave his own signal when he saw this. His squad member immediately walked over to the entrance to stand watch. After all, the Martial Artist Guild only had the one entrance. This world had no such thing as building codes and their buildings certainly had no fire escapes. Once the entrance was secured, there was nowhere to run!
About an hour later, Fung Ching returned to the ground floor. His quiver was filled with arrows again. He walked over to the reception to accept the mission and quickly came back with an acceptance letter. The process was very smooth. He placed two wooden plaques on the table, said a few things to the receptionist and came back after. He exchanged looks with Wun Fan and started laughing boldly, “Alright, let’s go.”
“Alright,” said Wun Fan. He flashed a provocative smile at Chai Chau Chin as he stood up. It was disconcerting to see a boy of his stature give off such a menacing stare.
Chai Chau Chin slowly stood up when he saw this and continued staring at Wun Fan’s back. As he walked past the reception desk, the Innate Martial Master guard suddenly said, “It is my job to remind you that there will be no fighting within a hundred meters of the Martial Artist Guild.”
“The one to strike first shall die!” The last phrase was filled with murderous intent. The guard was absolutely serious. Chai Chau Chin didn’t dare say a single word. He simply chased after Wun Fan and his two companions, running out of the entrance.
The guard was clearly quite upset. He didn’t trust the people of Green Wolf Gang. He looked at a receptionist and she immediately understood. The guard quickly followed after the gang members.
The dignity of the Martial Artist Guild would not be tarnished!
Wun Fan, Hung Yu Fei and Fung Ching walked out the doors. They glanced at the water clock beside the door. It was two in the afternoon. The red sun was high in the afternoon sky and the snow had stopped. It was nice weather. Wun Fan stretched his body and felt pain shoot through his back. He couldn’t help but wince. After all, his shoulder blade was still fractured, thanks to Fung Ching. The culprit in question didn’t dare look Wun Fan in the eyes. He looked down and muttered, “Sorry!”
“Don’t worry, you will have plenty of chances to apologize in the future!” said Wun Fan with a nasty smile. Fung Ching felt a chill run down his spine. He didn’t want to think about how Wun Fan would get his revenge. He won’t die, that’s for sure, but he also definitely would not have a good time.
Chai Chau Chin took charge of the ten squad members waiting outside the doors, every one of them armed to the teeth. They followed after the three kids, trailing twenty or thirty paces behind them. They were almost a hundred meters away from the Martial Artist Guild now. There was a boundary line on the ground that marked the exact distance. The moment the three of them stepped past that line, they would be able to avenge the death of their second brother. Moreover, he could even redeem the bounty put out by the Green Wolf Gang with Hung Yu Fei and Wun Fan’s head. They got to murder and make money off of it. It was perfect!
At the thought of that, Chai Chau Chin couldn’t help but shout at them, “How dare the three of you mess with the Green Wolf Gang! Stand still and I can leave your corpses untouched!”
“Hahaha!” laughed Wun Fan when he heard these words. The three of them had stepped past the boundary line. He turned around and looked at Chai Chau Chin with wide-open eyes as he flashed an evil smile, “The way of a general is to think first and act after. Every step is like threading a needle and weaving a cloth. If you have the advantage, you think wisely and assess the situation correctly before acting. If you are at a disadvantage, then resort to tricks, schemes and haunt your enemies like a formless shadow. My old man taught me to always plan everything ahead before I made a move.”
Chai Chau Chin was puzzled by this sudden speech from the boy. Suddenly, Wun Fan looked at the sky and said softly, “An accident is about to happen.”202Please respect copyright.PENANA6TliG4O1HE
