Fragrance of falling flowers flush for ten thousand miles, mists of raging red raise blistering hells.
Commander of beastly soldiers marching in manic files, a single misstep tolls a thousand funeral bells.
Beastmania Powder was pink in color and had a potent effect. Any magical creature of class-four and below would go berserk upon inhaling this powder. They would become bloodthirsty, violent, manic and overwhelmed with the desire to kill. Although Beastmania Powder only affected magical beasts of Martial Scholar-level and below, it is an incredibly potent drug. It sticks to clothing and even seeps through fabric, sticking to the skin itself, only dissipating after a long time.
Moreover, your ordinary alchemist would not be able to concoct Beastmania Powder. The powder had to be concocted during the dead of the night, in the most sinister of locations, with the most vile and malicious materials imaginable. Beastmania Powder was incredibly hard to store as well and demanded a lot of the alchemist’s mental energy. A slight mistake and the alchemist’s mind could be corrupted by the powder’s effect. That was why Beastmania Powder was considered a Grade Six drug and always in high demand amongst martial artists.
You could easily sell a pouch of Beastmania Powder for over ten thousand gold coins. It is said that certain alchemists could even manufacture Beastmania Powder capable of affecting class-six magical beasts! Powder of that quality was classified as a Grade Eight drug and was nearly impossible to find on the market!
“Lethality: Dragon’s Visage, Impenetrable Guise,” said Wun Fan. His aura was constrained to its limits. He channelled soul energy to his feet and leapt onto a tree branch. His hand turned into a claw and latched on tightly to the branch. However, his power was distributed evenly across his entire body, causing him to be completely silent as he maneuvered through the forest. He was travelling in the opposite direction, heading back to where they came from. Soon, he came across a large group of people.
It was the Green Wolf Gang!
There were only thirty-seven of them, but they moved fast, were clearly well-trained and moved as an organized group. Wun Fan could tell that their party was a proper team with just a single glance. Everyone had their own task, some were clearing the way, while others guarded the rear and covered their tracks as they moved.
Some party members were completely focused on observing their surroundings to avoid any sort of ambush. However, Wun Fan’s presence had been completely erased by his martial technique. The enemy couldn’t detect him at all, even with a Martial Master amongst their ranks.
Wun Fan leaned against a branch. There was a flicker of light in his hands as a pouch appeared in his hand. He couldn’t help but ask in his mind, “Old Lei, why did you make something like this?”
Old Lei was incredibly powerful. Against enemies that could defeat him, this powder was completely useless. Against enemies that couldn’t defeat him, this powder was even more useless.
Old Lei scoffed at the question and said, “Who told you Beastmania Powder could only be used for attracting magical beasts? Can’t it be used for alchemy?”
“Wha-?” said Wun Fan in surprise, almost choking in the process. To think that a Grade Six drug could be used as an ingredient in the making of another pill! What Grade would a pill like that be? Old Lei felt even more mysterious to Wun Fan now.
“Commander,” said a voice beneath the tree, about thirteen meters away from Wun Fan.
A member of the group approached Bat Yun and said, “The distance between their steps suddenly got wider. They must have increased their speed. Maybe they noticed our pursuit.”
Wun Fan suddenly felt frustrated at himself. He was always very cautious in his previous life, and always made sure to consider every possibility. Yet, he had become careless in this life, so much so that he even forgot basic tricks to cover his tracks.
Of course, even if he had thought of it, he wasn’t sure if Hung Yu Fei and Fung Ching would have been able to do it.
Bat Yun muttered softly, “Maintain formation. Moving faster is just going to disrupt our rhythm. This is the Green Sea Forest. This is our world.”
Wun Fan got his confirmation that these were Green Wolf Gang members when he heard that. However, he was slightly taken aback by the bold words of the leader. Who would’ve thought a tiny gang would dare to claim the vast stretches of the Green Sea Forest as their world?
Wun Fan pulled the ribbon around the pouch loose and a strange smell entered his nostrils, but nothing weird happened to him. He couldn’t help but mutter to himself, “Does this really work?”
“Just pour it, you idiot!” said Old Lei, finally fed up with Wun Fan taking his time.
“Sigh, old men these days really have no patience,” said Wun Fan. He felt a light breeze in the air. The leaves on the tree rustled. It was only then that Wun Fan muttered softly, “An accident is about to happen…I think?”
He waved his hand and scattered the red powder all over the air. A red mist descended from above, moving with the wind.
A member of the group in charge of observation immediately sensed something. Just three seconds after Wun Fan scattered the Beastmania Powder, someone looked up and pointed as they shouted, “Look out!”
Everyone looked up and saw red dust falling from above. There was a strange smell. They could feel a sudden urge to murder and their soul energy seemed to be going berserk. The lookout immediately shouted again, “Cover your nose, there’s something in the air!”
The rest of the members immediately tore off a piece of their clothes to cover their noses. The red dust continued to fall from above, they only had a few seconds to react. As the leader of the group, Bat Yun was able to pull himself together in just two seconds and shouted loudly, “Spread out!”
The party moved like a pack of wolves. They moved as one, scattering in every direction.
Of course, Wun Fan made sure to keep himself hidden in the shadows. He even found spot where the sun would be directly in the enemy’s eyes and used the sun’s glare as cover. He asked Old Lei, “How long does it take for Beastmania Powder to start working?”
“That depends how many magical beasts there are, how far away they are and how strong they are,” said Old Lei. He paused for a moment and expanded his senses. He smiled and said, “It seems like we have some guests.”
Suddenly, the ground started shaking. Heavy steps could be heard thudding in the distance, every step echoing between the trees, so loud that it felt like something was pressing on the chests of everyone. They felt a deep sense of unease. Bat Yun had no choice but to take control of the situation. He commanded the party, “Everyone, stay alert!”
“Yes, sir!”
“Martial soul, descend!”
Old Lei said simply, “They’re here.”
Crash! Several towering trees suddenly snapped in half as an elephant’s trumpet could be heard. A dozen gigantic gray figures charged forth, mad and frenzied. Their eyes were red and their breaths were hot and heavy. Each one of the beasts was four meters tall and five meters long. They were the largest magical beasts Wun Fan had seen in Heaven’s Martial World so far.
The ten elephant-like beasts were covered in hair. Their four limbs were not equal. Their front limbs were thick, strong and covered in carapace. Sharp edges protruded from between their toes. Meanwhile, their back limbs were smaller, but covered evenly in tough carapace, capable of supporting their entire body’s weight. It also had an agile trunk that could fell those large trees with a single blow.
“Peak class-four magical beasts, stronglimb elephants!” shouted the lookout angrily. He said in a confused tone, “Stronglimbs have always been known for their gentle nature. Why have they gone berserk?”
Stronglimb elephants, magical beasts that could rival peak Martial Scholars! These creatures typically lived in herds and were extremely gentle. They would not go into such a rampage unless it was a life-or-death situation. However, even they could not resist the potent effect of the Beastmania Powder. They had gone into a frenzy!
“Is it the powder from earlier?” said someone who made the connection to what happened earlier. It had to have something to do with that!
Bat Yun collected himself and his thoughts after assessing the situation. How were they supposed to deal with the enemy if even he panicked? He breathed and immediately gave out orders, “Three formations, now!”
Clang.
The thirty-six subordinates immediately drew their sabers and gathered into three small formations to defend themselves against the ten stronglimb elephants.
“Lethality: Fearless Rhythm!”
“Lethality: Green Wolf’s Howl!”
Several members of the Green Wolf Gang immediately howled, boosting the strength of their companions!
“Someone planned this out. They have to be lurking nearby. Could it be those three kids?” muttered Bat Yun as he prepared for battle. The more he thought about it, the more curious the situation seemed. He immediately channelled soul energy to his throat and shouted, “Be careful of an ambush!”
Everyone immediately went on high alert. They were completely focused an tense. They had to both deal with the stronglimbs, while also watching out for sneak attacks. It was a difficult endeavor, especially since the stronglimbs had tough skin that was incredibly hard to slice through.
Wun Fan watched the battle under the tree raged on. A yellow flower landed on his shoulder. He picked it up and rubbed it between his fingers. He suddenly felt a wave of inspiration and whispered to himself, “Many are the waves in life, but tragedy is the pain we are forced to bear. A hundred battles for a dream, well worth a yellow flower laid upon our graves.”
A strange bestial howl cut across the air. Three arrows embedded themselves deeply into the bodies of two Martial Vassals.145Please respect copyright.PENANAI5fgjPD7z6
