Old Lei looked extremely perplexed, but he could feel that destructive power churning in the cloud. He decisively rushed to Wun Fan’s side and pressed Wun Fan’s right thumb. Green light flashed and a ring appeared on his spirit body. Old Lei’s other hand remained pressed on Wun Fan’s thumb, siphoning a thin stream of pure aether that merged with his body, causing him to appear increasingly tangible.
Who would’ve thought that Wun Fan’s constant efforts of absorbing energy into the ring would yield such a tremendous amount of pure aether!
“Shennong’s Ring.”
This was Old Lei’s own storage ring that he kept inside the Spiritstartler Ring. Now that danger was upon them, he took out the ring to prepare for it. Old Lei looked at the skies anxiously. The clouds looked even thinner than before and the moon could clearly be seen now. Fear crept up his heart.
Old Lei had intended for Wun Fan to slowly absorb energy and shore up his foundations after he became a Martial Mortal, only tackling the Wind Mansion Point after that. However, Wun Fan had impulsively broken through that threshold and called down heavenly tribulation on himself. It was completely unexpected.
Old Lei sat cross-legged in the air, hastily absorbing the power he had siphoned from the Spiritstartler Ring to give himself a more tangible form. He suddenly opened his eyes and shouted, “Aether Forge!”
The aether in the surroundings rapidly gathered in Old Lei’s hands, taking on the form of a weapon. Wun Fan stared at the weapon. It was long and thick, but tapered off at the end: it was a fishing rod.
“A fishing rod?” Wun Fan said in astonishment. To think Old Lei used a fishing rod as his weapon of choice. He had never seen such a strange weapon.
The moment Wun Fan opened his mouth to speak, Old Lei turned his hand backward and flicked his fingers. He accurately shot several pills right down Wun Fan’s throat, almost causing him to choke in the process. The pills turned into liquid when they entered his stomach and were quickly absorbed by the body. The power spread throughout the body, turning into surges of energy that enveloped Wun Fan’s meridians, serving as a protective layer.
Old Lei did not waste any time talking. He was using all the time he had to make as many preparations for Wun Fan as possible. He had to finish them before the tribulation cloud was ready. He didn’t even pause to consider if the tribulation would alert the Wun Clan, nor to consider if this would expose his existence to them.
Wun Fan stood before the threshold of life and death. It was not the time to think about such trivial matters.304Please respect copyright.PENANAoOuD1aeZaC
Wun Ching Yeung was truly exhausted today. The Wun Clan’s business was booming. In particular, the management of the market was flourishing and bringing a large amount of cash flow to the clan, allowing Wun Ching Yeung to invest in other ventures. On the other hand, as a father, he was constantly worrying about Wun Siu Lan and Wun Fan. He was especially worried today, after seeing Wun Siu Lan show signs of ‘faltering’.
He had only climbed into his bed when a terrifying aura once again erupted from the mountain in the back. Wun Ching Yeung had never felt such an overwhelming aura in his entire life. His heart trembled uncontrollably when it appeared. He leapt out of bed, threw on a coat and immediately sprinted toward the mountain.
Wun Ching Yeung took out a small clay flute from his ring and blew it hard. A piercing sound cut across the night. Just a few seconds later, a flock of black shadows responded to his call, jumping off the roof of the Wun Mansion and appearing by his side.
A closer look at these black shadows would reveal that there were thirty of them. These thirty men followed closely behind Wun Ching Yeung, leaping several times in a single breath. Yet their movements were completely synchronized, every landing and every jump.
It perfectly demonstrated their discipline and reflected the arduous training they had undergone.
“On my orders, Shadow Guard. Three of you, proceed as if this is the highest level of crisis. Five of you, stand guard over the key locations. The rest of you follow me.”
“Understood.”
Eight people left the group the moment the order was issued, without needing any further communication. The remaining twenty-two followed after Wun Ching Yeung silently. Wun Ching Yeung was incredibly worried right now. He subconsciously associated this event with the burst of aura that had occurred the other night. He prayed to the heavens that nothing bad had happened.
He had an ominous feeling from the moment that aura erupted earlier, as if the people most important to him were facing a crisis. It was exactly the same feeling of unease as someone waiting inside a hospital while their beloved lying on a bed in the ICU.
However, that sense of unease he was feeling at the moment was ten times stronger. Even someone as composed as Wun Ching Yeung was feeling restless.
Two seconds later, a silhouette overtook Wun Ching Yeung. This person was faster than all of them. Wun Ching Yeung shouted at the person, “Be careful, great elder!”
The great elder didn’t even turn back to acknowledge him. He simply accelerated and rushed forward, leaving the rest of them behind.
Old Lei had just completely the fishing rod with Aether Forging beside the lake. He heard the sound of rustling clothes cutting through the air and couldn’t help but click his tongue in annoyance, “So fast?”
The great elder saw Wun Fan sitting on the ground from a long distance away. His worst fear had come true: this incident involved a member of the Wun Clan. He then saw the green silhouette beside Wun Fan and immediately became wary. It got even worse when he raised his head and saw the thunderclouds gathering in the skies. The immensity of the aura was indescribable with words.
The great elder was confident that even he could not face such a lightning tribulation head-on. No, he wasn’t sure if he would even have the courage or opportunity to escape from something like that. His voice shattered the silence of the mountain like booming thunder. His tone carried rage and fury, “Who dares cause trouble at Wun Mansion!”
Old Lei did not have a good temper, to begin with. How could he accept being yelled at in this fashion? Moreover, he was already worrying about Wun Fan’s survival and barely had enough time to do his preparations. He didn’t want to explain anything to the great elder at all. He simply stated the facts, “Bugger off if you want your grandson to live!”
Words often take on a nature of their own unintended by the speaker. The great elder immediately assumed that this mysterious individual had come after Wun Fan to take his life. The great elder glanced up once more. It had only been a few seconds, but the thunderclouds’ aura had grown even more menacing. If such power were to descend on the Wun Clan, all hundred-odd members of the Wun Clan would vanish in an instant.
He assumed that this thundercloud had been created by Old Lei and grew even angrier. He attacked without another word! He would kill this man who meant harm to the Wun Clan, even if it meant his own life.
“Aether Forge!” the great elder might not be a Martial General yet, but he had the power of a peak Martial Colonel. He could just barely Forge a weapon. He held the energy sword and lunged at Old Lei, “How dare you threaten the lives of our Wun Clan’s disciple! Die!”
Lethality: Great Harmony Sword.
The great elder didn’t know anything about Wun Fan’s condition. All he could see was Wun Fan sitting on the ground with a pained expression on his face. As such, he wanted to force Old Lei away from Wun Fan’s side as quickly as possible. That was why he had unleashed such a powerful move so quickly. He pointed at Old Lei with his sword and a few dozen energy swords appeared out of thin air. They merged together with the sword in his hand, forming a giant sword measuring several dozen meters long. He swung the giant sword at Old Lei.
Old Lei raised the fishing rod in his hand and easily blocked the great elder’s sword, despite the disproportionate sword. The great elder stared in stunned silence.
“Stop making trouble for me,” growled Old Lei. There was anger in his eyes as he glared at the great elder. He had no time to play with the great elder right now. He understood Wun Fan’s condition far better than the great elder. He said, “Wun Fan is undergoing heavenly tribulation. I am his teacher.”
He waved his rod, knocking aside the great elder’s sword and causing it to fall into the lake. A giant splash sent droplets of water into the air, soaking all three of the people present.
“What scoundrel dares to harm my son and pretends to be his teacher?!” Wun Ching Yeung arrived with the twenty-two Wun Clan shadow guards in tow. He heard what Old Lei had said, but he saw Wun Fan suffering on the ground and was immediately provoked.
Wun Fan was his weak spot in the Wun Clan. He was his adopted son and the son of his brother-by-heart. He had promised him that he would raise his son well and he would never let that promise be ruined. Wun Ching Yeung would never do anything that would betray the trust of his brother.
He had only just seen Wun Fan recover from his disease recently. He was going to become a Martial Mortal soon. He carried all of Wun Ching Yeung’s hope with him. Wun Ching Yeung was still waiting to see the day his son became a man.
This anger came from a father’s love, from a brother’s promise. It was not something your average person could possibly understand.
Wun Ching Yeung’s rationality was thrown out of the window by his overwhelming rage!304Please respect copyright.PENANAMuowoDZE27
