Dead leaves suddenly appeared around the black-clad figure. He summoned all of his soul energy in a single instant. The energy surged and his body immediately exploded, like a balloon popped by a needle.
The shadow guard’s body was the first to be hit by the explosion. His body was already in tatters. The merciless explosion ravaged what was left and tore it to pieces. Pieces of his body were knocked toward Wun Ching Yeung’s sword blast, neutralizing its power.
Not only had the Sword of the Unparalleled Wind and Cloud been dispelled, but the force of the explosion was also so great that even Wun Ching Yeung had to take a few steps back to stabilize himself. Wun Ching Yeung gritted his teeth in frustration. The assassin had gotten so close to them under his watch. Even he hadn’t been able to respond in time to the sneak attack. There was a chance he would have died in the attack.
Any other member of the clan would most certainly have died.
Which clan’s idea was this?
Old Lei landed close to the great elder. He spread out his mental energy and watched out for any more assailants. He never thought he would make the simple mistake of letting down his guard. He finally relented after searching every corner. He turned around and said to Wun Ching Yeung and the others, “I will follow you all.”
After all, he was worried about leaving Wun Fan alone.
The great elder nodded eagerly. He had something to ask Old Lei as well. Once Wun Fan and Wun Siu Lan had been sent back to their respective rooms, this night of unexpected twists finally came to an end.
Everyone was incredibly tired. They moved to the great hall to rest.
Wun Ching Yeung, the great elder, and the third elder looked Old Lei up and down inside the great hall. They noticed that his silhouette appeared translucent. The great elder looked very confused. Everyone remained silent. Old Lei was resting with his eyes closed. The three leaders of the Wun Clan looked at each other, raising eyebrows and trying to get the other to start talking. However, no one knew how to start the conversation.
The great elder didn’t have the patience to keep waiting. He lowered his voice, held back his usual straightforward attitude and spoke.
“Sir, you are?” The great elder’s attitude was friendly and polite. After all, even setting aside the fact that Old Lei was Wun Fan’s teacher, Old Lei’s ability to easily fend off attacks from Wun Ching Yeung, the third elder and himself already made him worthy of his respect.
Old Lei opened his eyes at this. His eyes looked up and into a corner, as if recalling a memory. He stroked his beard nostalgically and said, “Me?”

The alleyways of Green Sea Town weren’t too narrow. Usually, it was more than enough for a few people to walk through them at the same time. A black-clad figure was leaning against the wall of one such alleyway, far away from the Wun Clan.
“Ha…ha…” The black-clad figure spat out several mouthfuls of blood. His aura was weak and faint, his steps light and without strength. If someone were to tear off the veil he wore on his face, they would be terrified to see how pale he was underneath.
He turned a corner into another dark alley and took out a pill as he thought back to what just happened. If he hadn’t unleashed Fallen Flower’s Last Act by sacrificing all his blood and soul energy in time, he would never be able to walk out of the Wun Clan.
He didn’t fear death. However, he saw Old Lei. He felt the aura he gave off and knew that Old Lei was no ordinary person. He was worried that such an individual could potentially interfere with the clan master’s plans if he didn’t tell him about the individual.
His power would never ever improve again now that he had used Fallen Flower’s Last Act. In fact, it was uncertain if he would even be able to regain his former power. The man quickly swallowed another pill and tried his best to recover. To his surprise, he felt his heart skip a beat. It was his sixth sense, which he had honed over years of combat in the worst of battlefields.
He suddenly howled at a dark corner of the road, “Come out!”
He then took a step back, leaping into an alleyway and keeping his distance from the person in the shadows.
“Tsk.”
A woman dressed rather lightly slowly showed herself under the moonlight. She wore a pink-purple dress that only barely covered her chest. She held a light purple pipe in her hand, which she was using to smoke. She looked at the black-clad figure with a sort of playful cruelty in her eyes. Meanwhile, her other hand twirled her waist-long hair. She said in marvel, “Who would’ve thought that Mr. Ring Spirit would be so easily tricked by a simple illusion? He’s still too weak…”
“He had better recover his full strength as soon as possible.”
The woman flashed a seductive smile and radiated an alluring aura. The black-clad figure was already weak and on the brink of unconsciousness. The woman’s smile affected him and he felt his head turn heavy. He endured the nausea and forcefully drew upon what little soul energy he had just recovered as he shouted, “Who are you!”
“I never tell my name to dead people,” the relaxed expression faded from the woman’s face. Moonlight shone on her face. Murderous intent was now mixed in with her alluring aura as she said in a soft voice, “Countless forms make the vast world’s song, merits always go where they belong. Vitality exists weak or strong, the only salvation was effort all along.”
“Do you understand now?” She swept a strand of hair away from her face and flashed a smile that would charm anyone.
“What do you mean?” The black-clad figure didn’t understand the woman’s words, but he didn’t give them any further thought. This was no ordinary person. Escape was his best choice. He put strength into his legs and leaped, attempting to flee.
The black-clad figure landed on a rooftop and looked around him. What he saw was not roof tiles, but a dozen giant serpents hissing and lying in wait. Strangely enough, when the serpents moved, they didn’t leave behind a trail of slime, but spots of ink.
Lethality: Deceptive Paintings.
“Hss!”
The giant serpents lunged forward aggressively, biting the black-clad figure to death. His body was soon covered in perforations, blood spilling out of every wound and staining the entire alleyway in red. The woman waved her hand casually and the serpents returned with pieces of the body. She whispered, “Don’t leave if you’re here already. Come and be a guest in my masterpiece.”
There was a sudden flash of golden light behind the woman. A giant scroll appeared out of thin air, measuring over 3 meters tall and towering over the woman. The woman flicked her fingers and the scroll unfurled itself, revealing a six-meter-long landscape painting. It gave off the sweet scent of ink. The ink on the painting turned into a light mist that shrouded the scroll and lingered in the air, creating a mysterious atmosphere.
The five serpents squirmed mercilessly and threw the Wither member into the painting. With a loud snap of the fingers, the serpents instantly exploded into puddles of ink.
The woman opened her palm and the scroll immediately shrank from 4 meters to the size of a tiny toothpick before landing in her hand. She muttered to herself, “That charlatan has never been wrong. Amazing. I suppose I will follow his advice and keep waiting…”
The woman disappeared into the darkness and peace returned to Green Sea Town. The nights of normal people were always more peaceful.
Not far away, the mark of the Spiritstartler Ring in Wun Fan’s mind suddenly glowed. The glow then vanished when the woman put away her scroll. However, Wun Fan was unconscious right now and had no idea this had happened.
Meanwhile, inside the Hung Clan, a purple-robed figure was busy with a pile of oilcloths on a table. He took a long sniff of the various cloths and enjoyed their pleasant scents. He squirmed in delight and lifted his pinky finger as he dealt with the oilcloths. He took out several transparent jade bottles and squeezed out the oil in the oilcloths.
Drip! Drip! Perfume oil filled the bottle. The man’s uneasiness was pacified as he listened to the sound of dripping oil. Four pieces of nephrite jade were placed on a table a dozen steps away from the purple-robed man. One of the jades suddenly cracked in half.
The man’s face instantly turned dark when he heard the jade crack. His eyes turned cold and sinister. Soul energy erupted from him as he swept everything off the table. Clink! The jade bottles shattered and spilled perfume oil all over the ground. The carpet was stained with a strong but pleasant aroma.
Another silhouette leaped off the beam of the roof and kneeled on one knee, respectfully awaiting his orders.
“Find out what happened!”
A simple sentence sufficed.
“Yes.” The figure didn’t dare wait for even a second more. He vanished from the room immediately, leaving only the purple-robed man’s heavy breathing and the sound of more bottles shattering.274Please respect copyright.PENANAEeiAkMk1Tx
