Wun Fan broke out into a cold sweat when he heard Wun Siu Lan’s description. Wasn’t she talking about Earth from his past life? He recalled his inner demon tribulation. It sent him back to Earth as well and Wun Siu Lan was part of the story. Both of them had that rectangular Scared tool— right, that was probably just a more technologically advanced cellphone. Wun Fan could figure that out based on the fact that the device could make calls.
Their dreams seemed to be related. Could it be…
Wun Fan also noticed that they understood each other better and thought in similar ways after surviving the lightning tribulation. Siu Lan even expected him to wake up tonight and prepared food for him ahead of time. Did they have some sort of unknown connection now?
“Siu Lan, did you meet me in your tribulation dream?” Wun Fan immediately asked. He wasn’t a person to mince words.
“Wha…of course not! You stupid, idiot, silly Fan!” Wun Siu Lan was like a cat that had its tail stepped on. Blood rushed to her head as if she was about to explode; her head and ears rang and her face turned bright as she let out an embarrassed shout, “Of course not! Who would ever think of a pervert like you!”
“Alright, alright, alright,” Wun Fan hastily consoled her. He raised his hands to show that he was wrong and pleaded for the young lady to calm down. It took him quite a while before he managed to calm Wun Siu Lan down. Wun Fan knew Wun Siu Lan well enough. Her overreaction to his question was already an answer. If he had his suspicions earlier, he was now sure that he had shown up in Wun Siu Lan’s inner demon tribulation.
Wun Fan slapped his belly and put the plate on the snowy ground once he was done eating. An oily meal like this would have wrecked anyone’s gut, especially if they hadn’t eaten in four days. However, Wun Fan was a martial artist and his body was more than strong enough to handle something like this.
“Look at you, absolutely no table manners to speak of,” Wun Siu Lan said as she pouted. She put away the plates and took out her handkerchief. The moonlight was gentle and soft as she wiped away a drop of syrup from the corner of Wun Fan’s mouth. Wun Fan felt his heart rate rise when he felt Wun Siu Lan’s warm body get closer to him. He didn’t have such a reaction even when a beauty like Chan Chi Yuet was pressed up against him. He didn’t know why Wun Siu Lan had such an effect on him.
They stared into each other’s eyes for a few seconds, until Wun Fan let out a cough and said, “Tha…thanks.”
“Pft..hahaha!” Wun Siu Lan laughed out loud. She put her mask back on and her unique air of gentle stubbornness vanished, replaced by a cool aura of subtle hostility.
The girl turned around and stepped on the white snow, saying just one last thing as she left, “Good luck with your training.”
Wun Fan smiled mischievously and shouted, “Lei Si Lan!”
“Mm?”
“Hahaha…” Wun Fan started laughing out loud, so hard he could barely catch his breath. He was laughing so hard he had to squat on the ground and rub his temples to ease the pain.
Wun Siu Lan had responded to the name instinctively and immediately turned red as a tomato when she realized what happened. She knew she had fallen for Wun Fan’s trick when she saw him laugh at her. She clasped her face, turned around and ran away as fast as she could. She didn’t have the courage to stay for even a second longer. She vanished in a matter of seconds, with Wun Fan still laughing in the background.
It seemed like that their inner demon tribulation was actually connected. Doesn’t that mean…
Wun Fan’s laughter stopped abruptly at the thought of that. He remembered what a philanderer he had been in those past lives from his inner demon dream. If Wun Siu Lan were to remember those instances as well, he would probably get beat up again.

It was sunrise again. Wun Fan absorbed the purple energy, restoring his soul energy and his mental energy to peak condition. He enjoyed this sensation. He wasn’t in a rush to excavate his Three-Yin and Three-Yang Hand Meridians. He had the Spiritstartler Ring anyway. The speed of his cultivation would not lag behind anyone. It was better to take the time to consolidate his state of mind.
He had just woken up and his condition wasn’t exactly stable yet. It was better if he left the mountain and went to look for his father first. That night, when he saw the despair in his father’s eyes, he could feel his heartbreak even from a distance. Wun Fan had been a son in two lives now and for the first time, he felt like he had not been a good son to his father. It was a painful feeling.
Wun Fan was rather sullen because of this and couldn’t find it in himself to focus on his training.
Wun Fan slowly walked down the mountain. He took one last look at the small lake before he left. It was difficult to miss the marks left behind by the tribulation that night. He chuckled. The marks were a record of his rebirth. After today, it seemed about time that he prepared himself to go out on a journey.
Wun Fan’s eyes gleamed with excitement. He couldn’t wait to become more powerful. He had the Spiritstartler Ring and Old Lei’s guidance. He might as well cut his belly open and kill himself if his cultivation speed remained slow.
He arrived at the arena after descending the mountains. The disciples in the arena stared at him with looks of surprise and disbelief, which quickly changed into looks of respect. Almost every disciple that came across him would bow slightly in a show of respect. Wun Fan wasn’t quite used to it.
Of course, the reason the disciples now respected Wun Fan so much was because of the shocking commotion of the tribulation on that night. That night, every single person in Green Sea Town knew that an exceptional talent had been born in the Wun Clan.
Naturally, something of such commotion couldn’t remain a secret. The entire Wun Clan was abuzz with gossip and rumors the moment the sun rose. Wun Fan’s name was once again the talk of the clan. Meanwhile, the other clans of the town couldn’t help but marvel at the incident: the former genius had been silent for a while, but was this the prelude to his rise to prominence? News slowly spread and it was only natural that a bunch of gossipmongers and braggarts would start talking as if they knew it all along, “I’ve always said that the third young master was a genius. He would never have stopped at sixth-level Martial Disciple for too long.”
“Indeed, indeed! In fact, it might be that the third young master suppressed his own power and endured all the humiliation for the clan’s sake. He might have been worried of the mayor’s reaction to knowing that another prodigy had come out of the clan.”
“Exactly! Young master Fan has always been polite, elegant and carries himself with grace. There was no way he would have been mediocre. To think that he had so many considerations behind his actions, it is truly impressive.”
For a moment, he who had been mocked as the ‘strongest sixth-level’, the ‘cripple of the Wun Clan’ and Mr. Level Six became the rising star of the clan. He was once again the center of everyone’s attention.
Wun Fan arrived outside the door of the meeting hall and asked the servant Siu Ha to tell his father he was here to see him. Siu Ha hurriedly acknowledged his request and entered the hall. The next second, Wun Fan could hear a man laugh loudly inside the hall. The voice was incredibly gentle and soft. It wasn’t hard to guess who it belonged to.
Wun Fan smiled. The mayor had stopped his bleeding and Wun Siu Lan’s rampage last time. It was a good chance to thank him for his help back then.
Siu Ha walked out of the hall and lowered her head respectfully as she said, “Young master Fan, the clan leader wants you to enter.”
“Mm, thank you.” Wun Fan stepped forward, but suddenly turned around and said, “Siu Ha, make a pot of pu’er tea for me, please. I want it thick and hot. I ate a little too much earlier.” He patted his belly. The white pork rice Siu Lan made was delicious, but it was a little greasy and made his stomach feel a little weird.
“Yes, young master.”
Upon entering the hall, Wun Fan saw the great elder, Wun Ching Yeung and Hung Yun Zak sitting by a long table. Calligraphy tools had been placed on the table. The three of them had written a line of a dozen words. Wun Fan saw his father suddenly stand up with his forehead scrunched into a knot. He couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t think there was anything that could pose a challenge to his father. After all, the image of his father in his mind was one of a wise and perfect man.
“Clan leader, great elder, mayor.” Naturally, Wun Fan knew his manners. He bowed and paid respects to the three men. He then noticed that Wun Siu Lan was sitting by their side as well. He didn’t see her earlier because his father had been standing in the way.
“Haha, greetings to you too,” said Hung Yun Zak in response.
The brat must have expected him to come to find their father, which was why she had been waiting here for him. Wun Fan figured as much from the fact that she didn’t look surprised at all to see him.
“Heh, kid. You finally pulled yourself out of bed. I wonder what kind of perverted dream kept you sleeping for so long?” The great elder yawned and said. He was fatigued from the past few days of worrying about the kids. He had not slept well at all. When he finally saw Wun Fan unharmed, it was like a big rock had been lifted from his chest, but he couldn’t help but tease him.
Wun Siu Lan was clearly uncomfortable when she heard the words ‘perverted dream’. She stole a nervous glance at Wun Fan, worried that he would say something stupid.
However, Wun Fan knew what the great elder was like. The anxiety on his face the night of the tribulation was no act. Wun Fan couldn’t bring himself to snap back with a joke of his own, so he simply replied, “I am awake now. Thank you, gramps.”
Wun Fan’s sudden show of familial warmth shut the great elder up. He wasn’t used to it and so he awkwardly shoved Wun Fan aside and put an end to the conversation.
“It’s good that you’re awake, Fan. I will call the doctor over and let him help you get your body back to its best condition,” said Wun Ching Yeung as he waved a hand at Wun Fan. Wun Fan walked over and his father grabbed his wrist. He channelled soul energy into Wun Fan’s body and let it circulate throughout. He saw that Wun Fan’s pulse was strong and his meridians were healthy. All ten of his vital points were charged with powerful soul energy radiating an aura of death.
“Good.” Wun Ching Yeung looked satisfied. He nodded over and over, tears welling up in his eyes. He wiped them away with his right hand and patted Wun Fan on the shoulder. The two of them looked at each other. There was no need for words. Even Wun Siu Lan was affected. She reached under her mask with the handkerchief in her jade-white fingers.
The great elder spoke up, “Kid, you’re just in time. You’re good with words and literature. Why don’t you help us think of the second line to this couplet?”
Wun Fan asked about it and found out that Hung Yun Zak would occasionally come and look for Wun Ching Yeung to enjoy tea and write a few couplets to satisfy their inner poets. Wun Fan glanced at the just-risen sun in east and couldn’t help but be baffled, “Isn’t it a little early for that?”
He looked at the first line of the couplet, written with neat, pretty strokes: “Open your mouth and laugh, laugh at the past, the present, the heavens and the earth, laugh in the face of everything.261Please respect copyright.PENANAl8DYS8yDoI
