It took less than five seconds for the red flowers to crash down on the men. The speed of the flower’s rotation was far greater than the speed of the leaves from earlier. Wun Fan figured that these men were in for a bad time when the red flowers hit them.
You could even hear the sound of air being sliced apart when the flowers descended. They were clearly incredibly powerful.
“Everyone gather around me,” Cheung Yun Ching barked at his subordinates. He wasn’t very powerful, but as a Peak Martial Mortal, he could still sense how powerful this attack was. The five men quickly stopped their attack and gathered around Cheung Yun Ching. Cheung Yun Ching squatted down and conjured all his soul energy. He focused his mind. His eyes gleamed as he yelled, “Lethality: Defeated Wolf’s Withdrawing Slash!”
Defeated Wolf’s Withdrawing Slash was the strongest technique he knew.
All of his power was concentrated on the edge of his saber, which glowed with a faint red light and a savage aura. It was the desperate attack of a wolf on its last legs, ready to give its life to cover the retreat of its pack.
He gripped the saber tightly with both hands, so hard that green veins popped along his arm. He waited until the red flowers had reached him and let out a slash. Soul energy erupted from the blade, turning into a blast of saber energy that sliced apart dozens of the flowers before it finally faded. However, dozens more of those same flowers were still falling from the skies. The men watched on in disbelief as cold sweat soaked their clothes. They couldn’t bear to imagine what would happen if those flowers were to hit their vital spots.
Were they about to die?
Just as the flowers were about to make contact, the girl closed her eyes and put her palms together. A wave of soul energy radiated from her body. The red flowers suddenly stopped spinning, like puppets that just had their strings cut. They drifted gently to the ground along the breeze, harmless as could be. The girl’s soft voice drifted across the battlefield, “I’ve had enough fun. I’m not interested in killing anyone.”
“Fun…” muttered the men to themselves. Their lives were at the girl’s mercy and all she was just having fun?
Cheung Yun Ching’s eyes lost their focus as he stared at the leaves and flowers on the ground absentmindedly. A stray memory crossed his mind, a piece of information he had picked up from somewhere. He turned around and asked, “Miss— miss, may I ask if you are a member of the Hung Clan?”
“Oh. Haha. Yes, I am,” said the girl as she tidied up her short hair and brushed the snow away from her shoulders. She took out a white jade medallion and smiled proudly as she said, “I am Hung Yu Fei, lineage disci…”
Cough cough. Wun Fan interrupted Hung Yu Fei with a brisk cough. He glanced at her and said, “Idiot, just your name is enough. Do you need to reveal so much personal information about yourself?”
Who would’ve thought a young girl like her would dare to reveal her own identity to a bunch of clearly bad people when she had no guards with her? It would be inviting trouble, especially if she was someone important. It would also be trouble if she wasn’t someone important enough to be afraid of.
However, Wun Fan couldn’t help but be curious. Why would a lineage disciple of the Hung Clan come to somewhere so remote alone? She didn’t seem to be of the Green Sea Town’s Hung Clan.
Just then, Old Lei’s voice rang out in Wun Fan’s mind, “So she was from the Hung Clan. No wonder I got a familiar feeling from here. The mayor fellow must be hiding his true power using the same technique as her.”
“The mayor fellow…” repeated Wun Fan to himself. He had nothing to say to Old Lei’s words. After all, with Old Lei’s prideful personality, remembering that Hung Yun Zak was the mayor was already asking a lot from him.
Hung Yu Fei was a pampered young lady. When Wun Fan interrupted her, her face turned dark as she said, “Little boy, you must be more respectful when speaking to your elders. You shouldn’t interrupt them and you shouldn’t be rude. I’ll forgive you this time, but not the next time.”
Wun Fan couldn’t give a single hoot. It wasn’t him that would be in trouble anyway. He immediately looked away nonchalantly and pulled out a piece of tissue from his ring to wipe his mouth. He then packed his things and prepared to leave, just in case that crazy girl tired to bother him again.
Hung Yu Fei had admitted to being a member of the Hung Clan. In addition to her martial techniques and the white jade medallion she had, Cheung Yun Ching had no doubt that she was a member of the Hung Clan. He dropped to his knees and stuttered, “So it was…a young mistress of the Hung Clan. I am deeply sorry for my transgressions and I beg for your mercy.”
The other five men couldn’t possibly stay standing after their captain had already kneeled. They dropped to their knees and followed suit.
“Mm?” Wun Fan grew curious when he saw this. These men hadn’t acted so fearfully when he revealed himself to be a member of the Wun Clan earlier. The Wun Clan was one of the four major clans alongside the Hung Clan, so what was they difference? Why were they so scared of the Hung Clan’s name? Was the mayor of the Green Sea Town such a terrifying individual?
It seemed like he needed to travel more to learn more about this world. He was always a little creeped out by Hung Yun Zak’s weird eccentricities. Who would’ve thought that he had such a reputation as an official amongst the people?
Wun Fan shuddered uncontrollably when he thought about Hung Yun Zak again.
“Mm,” said Hung Yun Fei. She was satisfied with the response of Cheung Yun Cin and his men. She put on a compassionate expression and said, “Very well, I forgive you all. Sigh. I’m actually a really nice person, you know? I never like to fight with anyone. ”
“Thank you for your mercy,” said the members of the Green Wolf Gang. Meanwhile, they were all thinking the same thing in the back of their minds, You’re a nice person?
Wun Fan was still baffled by the sudden change in the men’s attitudes, but he didn’t bother too much about it. He stood up and prepared to leave.
As he prepared to settle his bill, several horse whinnies could be heard from one of the roads. A girl who looked about eighteen was hurrying over on a pony. A rough hemp rope trailed behind her as she pulled three ponies with her.
“Ng Kit,” the girl on the pony called out.
The girl’s voice was soft on the ears. She was pretty as a chrysanthemum. She had clear eyes, nice teeth and a pretty face. Even the rough hemp clothes she wore couldn’t hide her beauty. The only flaw was the numerous freckles on her face. It was likely due to a lack of skincare and too much time under the sun, which also resulted in rougher skin. However, the flaws could not hide her beauty. When she smiled, her eyes curved like the moon. She was a pleasant sight to behold.
She would likely be the prettiest person in most villages.
“Ho Siu Nam,” the waiter known as Ng Kit cried the girl’s name out when he saw her. He hurried over and carefully took the pony’s reins from her. He held the pony and helped the girl get off safely.
“Ng Kit, I saw a bunch of horses run by in a panic just now. What happened?” Ho Siu Nam asked with a worried expression.
Ho Siu Nam and Ng Kit lived in a nearby village. This teahouse was opened by Ng Kit’s grandfather many years ago, after painstakingly applying for a permit from the local government. Business was quite good. At the very least, it put food on the table and allowed them to have some savings.
Unfortunately, Ng Kit’s parents died of sickness when he was still young. The teahouse had been left unattended for a long time. It wasn’t until Ng Kit grew up that he took over the teahouse. However, he dressed in very simple and plain clothes, which was why Wun Fan mistook him for a waiter.
Meanwhile, Siu Nam’s family reared these ponies in their village. These ponies were easy to rear and grew quickly, usually taking less than half a year to reach adolescence. The ponies were small and not very fast, but they had plenty of stamina and were good for hard work. These ponies regularly carried up to two hundred kilograms of cargo on their backs with no problem.
These ponies didn’t usually live very long, but they were cheap, easy to feed and could do backbreaking work. As such, they were favored by merchants and could sell for quite a lot of money even in Green Sea Town.
That was why Ho Siu Nam would occasionally travel to Green Sea Town to sell the ponies and bring back money for the family. If she had the time, she would stop by and help Ng Kit with his business.
However, on her way to Green Sea Town today, she suddenly saw a herd of horse running by in a panic. Moreover, some of them had injuries on them. She recognized one of them as Ng Kit’s horse and quickly hurried over. Upon arrival, she saw a bunch of big, burly men kneeling down before a young girl. She couldn’t quite figure out what was going on in the moment and had to ask Ng Kit for clarification.
Ng Kit was speechless as well. The whole thing was quite complicated and he didn’t know how to explain it succinctly. He looked at Hung Yu Fei and the Green Wolf Gang members with a complicated look in his eyes. He then glanced at Wun Fan as well. He was worried that anything he said might offend any one of the parties involved. After all, he couldn’t afford to piss off any of these people. He pulled Ho Siu Nam’s hand and leaned by her ear, quickly whispering a summary of the events to her.
She nodded as she quickly grasped an understanding of the situation. A thought appeared in her mind. She looked at everyone shyly as she said, “Esteemed guests, I have a humble suggestion in mind. Would you all be willing to listen to it?”
“Go ahead,” said Hung Yu Fei as she combed her hair. She then waved her hands and said, “Come on, stand up. You’re making me look like a bad person here.”
The Green Wolf Gang members felt cold sweat beading on their foreheads. They didn’t know what to say. She’s the one who was unreasonable, she’s the one who attacked them first after scattering their horses and she’s not the bad person here?
