It's funny.
On a rainy day, I hurried home from school. My neighbourhood was a quiet one, where cars barely passed by.234Please respect copyright.PENANA79qfRoy4kt
But luck wasn't on my side that day.234Please respect copyright.PENANATjxJyQ2TpG
Like every day, I crossed the road, walking a little faster than usual. I swear I had looked left and right, but truck-kun wasn't kind enough to turn his lights on.
My life didn't flash before my eyes or anything. I barely even had time to be scared. I only remember thinking, "oh."234Please respect copyright.PENANAE66UTdEwbo
It lasted for a split second. An impact that sent me flying a couple of meters, phone and umbrella knocked out of my hands. In more shock than pain, I knew that I had broken at least a few bones. However, due to pure adrenaline, I was able to drag myself to the side of the road, but I couldn't make it any further.
Truck-kun, being the coward he was, fled the scene of crime. I guess he didn't want to face the shame of being unable to finish his job of isekai-ing me.
The bad news? My phone was out of reach. The good news? It had stopped raining and the sun was peaking out. Not that it helped with my shivering though.
So I waited. And waited. Before long, I gave up my pride and managed to yell for help, along with my life's worth of cuss words. No one came until a kind stranger stopped their car for me an hour later. An ambulance and my guardians were called, and I was given a blanket along with a portable heater. Two more hours passed with me lying on the concrete path.
The paramedics were nice, and gave me a pain-killing drug to inhale. Except it tasted terrible and I couldn't stand it. Long story short, I had no life-threatening injuries, but the doctor told me I wasn't ever going to be able to walk properly again. I had surgery to insert metal rods and screws into my body to fix the fractures, which honestly hurt a lot more than the actual accident. Truck-kun was able to get away with the crime with no witnesses, cameras and my failure of a memory.
To this day, I keep wondering. How different would my life be if I had waited another second before crossing the road? Or even if I just took the bus home instead?234Please respect copyright.PENANAtGXIidrATY

On an ending note, I was confined to a wheelchair for a number of months in total. I'm mostly fine now, but the main areas of my body affected by the accident still hurt once in a while. I can walk fine for short distances, but my knees will hurt for longer, though I've gotten used to the pain. Jogging for, say, 20 meters, isn't a problem either.
Alright, now here's a little question for you. Yes, you, who managed to read this far. How much of this story was made up? 10%? 50%? 100%? Do let me know your thoughts.
