It was a shitty start. Our flight got cancelled... we woke up at 5:00am just to get stuck at the airport for 8 hours, then sent back to a motel with mediocre food.
Anyhow, we got a good flight the next day straight to Tokyo. First things first, you obviously have to go to a conbini (convenience store) to buy some food for breakfast - we made the first mistake in 2018 while in Osaka; no place was open for breakfast.
Fuuuck, instant noodles are so good. Msg the GOAT. I also got a matcha mochi and triangle gimbap- I mean, sushi. The matcha mochi was actually delicious. Triangle gimbap was 50 yen! In my university convenience store, it was over 7 times the price...

Foods I had in Asakusa (not all in one day, ofc)
Melon bread in Asakusa Kagetsudou - It was way too sweet for me, despite the high ratings. And I like sweets. 6.5/10.
Tabanenoshi matcha tiramisu/sweet potato crepe - I think the sweet potato is seasonal, but they were both absurdly delicious. Popular on social media, it did not disappoint. I'm drooling just thinking of it... (photo is only of the matcha tiramisu and matcha red bean) 8.5/10

Candied strawberry! It was great~ the area was quite touristy so it was probably kind of overpriced, but I think the lowest we saw was 400yen for a skewer? You can get it pretty much everywhere though. Strawberries are great in Japan. 7/10.
Oden! ...I forgot the restaurant, but it was a very comfy atmosphere. Oden is great for a winter evening! Except we ate it at lunch. Oh well! Oden is basically a Japanese comfort food. Things like fishcakes, fish balls, crab sticks, radish, in a delicious soup. Anmitsu at Kanmidokoro Nishiyama. The three of us ordered one item each (compulsory). Anmitsu is basically a scoop of red bean paste(?) Since I'm Chinese, I'm very familiar with red bean. But what it came with.... super delicious. The restaurant staff were also nice, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. 8.5/10! Warabimochi taro + matcha drinks at Kamakura Sweets - a bit pricy for a drink, but c'mon. It's Japan. Shit is way pricier where Iive. And far out, it's delicious. I wish stuff was cheaper... Kura sushi Asakusa - This was the highest rated Kura sushi branch in Tokyo. It was okay. But hella cheap!! Seriously an experience. You have to go on a weekday, or else it's like 2 hours wait. 7.5/10 for the price.
I'm so hungry hahaha I'm gonna have some ice cream.... I thought I'd cover everything I did in Tokyo in this issue, but it's impossible. I'll just cover the Asakusa region and close by stuff. Two more...!
Daifuku at Misuzu - DAMN they're delicious. Cream-filled mochi with strawberries or other ingredients... I walked 30 minutes to get there, and bought a lot. My favourite was the strawberry one. The rest of my family liked the cafe-au-lait. Dorayaki is delicious... And that's it for the Asakusa area! Tips? Always have a little Japanese knowledge in mind. My Japanese is... meh, and the waitress struggled to tell us that the noodles came in a large portion for a solid 5 minutes. Thanks to the power of Google Translate, we got by. There were a lot of people in Kimono or Yukata when visiting the big shrine in Asakusa! Super fancy. There were also tourist carts where some guy pulls you in a cart and introduces you to the area.
