Around 6 or 7 years ago, I was obsessed with the musical Hamilton. Hell, if you've read my latest dream from my dream blog, you'd know. I'd be randomly rapping Hamilton songs EVEN IN MY DREAMS. I'd also dream of watching the actual musical many times, but alas, I do not reside in the US. 267Please respect copyright.PENANAGtz6Isgxxt
Why am I telling you this? Well, after watching the musical recently, my mother, for a short period of time, really liked Hamilton as well.
So I decided to go down memory lane and rewatch my favourite Hamilton animatics from back in the day.
Ah... watching it in junior high, compared to watching it when I'm over 19 makes a huge difference.267Please respect copyright.PENANAxHXvpzpama
Even though I technically have the same personality type as Hamilton, I relate more with Burr. In fact, very much so.267Please respect copyright.PENANALPJEGNXR4A
I was taught never to take risks. I hate losing, you see. So any chance of failure or loss accompanied by "oh yeah, it'll take too much effort" just increased my lack of motivation for, well, anything. I'm always idle, always "waiting," for what, who knows.
"If you stand for nothing, Burr, then what will you fall for?"267Please respect copyright.PENANAsPS4Q3lpBN
If I stand for nothing, then I'll fall for nothing. That's the point. I've got things to lose. My pride, money, time, energy.
And seeing so many people overtake me while I'm standing idle, like Burr failing to keep up Hamilton's pace, and jealous of his seemingly unwavering dedication to writing... it really hits.
If I had been born back in the 17th century... A poor background or a rich one... I wonder if I'd have made a difference in the world?267Please respect copyright.PENANAG9xkwVQfiD
Oh, but "he looked at me like I was stupid, I'm NOT stupid" is such a relatable Hamilton line. I hate people explaining to me things I already know or telling me to do things I already know I have to do. I know what I'm doing. I also hate people looking down on me.
I also forgot how heavily political Hamilton was, and considering I'm not much of a politics person, I'm surprised I got into it.
If you're a fan of Hamilton, leave a comment on your favourite character and song(s). I used to be able to memorise the majority of songs and recite them off by heart.
