The chateua was falling.
Guests screamed, desperate for something to hold on to to stop their fall. Even his siblings were sent tumbling down the slanted ground beneath his feet. But their cries fell away when he heard your scream.
“Y/N!” He called out, unable to spot you in the crowd of moving people. Where were you? In all the ruckus you’d been jostled out of his sight.
“Kata!” He heard, and his gaze swung in the direction you’d shouted from.
You were sliding down the steep incline at alarming speed, your hands and fingers scrambling for purchase on the tiles of the chateau in a futile effort to stop yourself. There was such fear in your eyes…
Katakuri immediately set out in a run, desperate to reach you before you neared the edge of the chateau.
Almost there, but it was too late. Katakuri watched horrified as the chateau broke apart, the piece under you falling down and towards Sweet City below. You screamed with the knowledge he could not reach you, his heart plummeting along with you.
“Kata.” He heard as he was shaken awake. “Darling, wake up, it’s just a nightmare.”
His body is tense as he’s ripped from his subconscious, forcibly thrust into the darkness of his home as you wake him up. At first he can’t focus on anything, but seeing your face focuses him.
“Y/N…” He breathed in relief, blinking away the images of you disappearing from his sight and looking into your sleepy but concerned expression.
His breaths came out in labored pants, his body instinctively trying to calm his racing heart down. Now that it was evident the danger had all been in his head, he felt like shaking.
“It’s alright, it was just a bad dream.” You say, trying your best to soothe him.
Comforted by your quiet voice, and seeing you alive and safe in your shared bedroom, he let out a pent up breath and reached out to pull you against him. You let out a surprised noise but don’t push him away.
His strong arms envelop your body, his large frame keeping you safe and warm. Of course, his skin was damp from his panicking mind…
“Kata, you’re all sweaty-”
“Please, just for awhile.” He said, desperate to have you within his arms until the memory of the nightmare faded entirely. He couldn’t imagine letting you go, not right at that moment. “Don’t leave my side.”
