Matthew settles Henry down with a bottle as I hand Henry over, ruffling Matthew's hair briefly as I do. He looks up at me and I smile elated for Rachel. Just imagining what she may be doing, most likely gazing at her ring and chatting his ear off.

I send it off and smile placing my phone down on the marble countertop. Eyeing Henry, whose eyes are currently open and watching Matthew. I smile, realising just how close they are going to be.

One glass of wine has turned into two since that news came in, and so it looks as though tomorrow is going to be tiring. I'm bargaining on the fact that Matthew has fed Henry a whole bottle and hoping that will settle my little darling for longer. Ross changed him into Pyjamas, ones that he specifically picked out. The sleep suit, a simple white one with little red boats on it.

So here we are again for the second night in a row, me and my two male helpers taking me and my baby up to bed. It's a unique situation to say the least, but I'm grateful for the help.

Matthew holds onto Henry as Ross, whose walking has improved since the physio, climbs up the steps to the spare bedroom near mine. I wish him a goodnight and he kisses Henry on the forehead.

"He's dozing already" Matthew says as he places him down in the bedside crib, I close the double doors over and watch my little baby drift off.

"You're very good to us" I smirk and he laughs collapsing into the massage chair at the end of the bed. Pacing into the walk in wardrobe, I pull out a black slip for bed, and contort to grasp the zipper for my backless dress. It's not possible, I whine in my head, asking Matthew to undress me is impractical and awkward.
Just a little more of a push I tell myself, yanking my arm before groaning, wondering what ladies do when they have nobody to ask to help them with their zip. Do they just sit in the clothes until somebody arrives, I wonder laughing at the mental image of woman sitting in evening gowns for hours on end frustrated at not being able to get the zipper down.

"Okay?" he asks from behind the door and I clear my throat realising that I had been laughing out loud. A mix of my first glass of wine, and the elation and shock from Rachel's news.

Hanging the red gown up by my evening dresses, I decide it will need dry cleaning rather than a cycle in the washer dryer. Next I step out of my shoes and pull the black silk slip over me for bed.

I dare not look at Matthew as I enter the bedroom, it will only make me imagine his hands on me and quite frankly that's not something I should be thinking about at all. Instead I walk over to the dresser, brushing my hair out, focusing on detangling the curls before I remove my makeup in the mirror. The television murmurs in the background and I tune into the news instead of the imaginings of my slightly tipsy brain.

Having settled the hairbrush and makeup remover down, I climb into bed pulling the voiles over and finally facing Henry. My baby looks content and I briefly wonder whether newborns dream, and if they do what he might be dreaming about. Most likely I decide he may be thinking about his daddy and his low comforting voice or me, his mom, who continually supplies the milk. Or perhaps it could even be Matthew or Ross. They both have a pretty active role in his life right now and I would love for that never to change.

"I'm going to be taking lots of pictures and we're going to buy photo albums. Proper ones, so one day he can look at them and see all of the people in the world that cared about him immensely" I say hazily, my eyes beginning to close.

Although I cannot be sure, I believe that I hear the faintest whisper, telling me that he adores me. That he will always be there, and that he loves me and Henry before I hug my pillow and fully succumb to sleep.

"I do wonder how much milk he gets from breastfeeding compared to the bottle, like I want him solely on breast milk. And considering that I am able to do it, I want to continue feeding him like that. But pumping and the bottle is a game changer" I say as Matthew watches me prepare to offer Henry a feed.

Wordlessly I hand him Henry and he smiles cuddling him into his chest. I worry terribly about how Matthew will manage his emotions whilst we're away. My only hope is that the notions of the future and him being a part of our lives helps him to feel safe and secure. Ruffling his hair before I go to the rain shower he smiles up at me sweetly before I leave.
