As I walk back into the kitchen Matthew is rocking Henry back and forth looking into his little peaceful face, humming to him. My mother standing over his shoulder just gazing at her grandson. She always loved Matthew, trusted him. She is enthralled by the baby, like I knew she would be. They're talking to each other, and the baby. It makes me smile.

"Thank you for holding him whilst I washed" I smile at him and his stare lingers on me just briefly, he rocks the baby looking at me smiling.

"He does" he says softly and we stare at Henry quietly for a few moments as he sleeps in Matthew's arms. Henry is serene, his eyes closed shut just dosing in Matthew's arms.

"You were doing very well" I say wryly and he sighs looking down at the baby and then back up at me. He knows exactly what I mean. I heard him before I fainted, telling me that he loved me. The desperation in his voice and the worry.

I coo at him aware of the conversation behind me, my mother joining me and laying out the changing mat. I place him down suddenly aware of how delicate he is. Unwrapping him from his swaddle, my mother passes me a newborn nappy. Thanks to Ross' baby shower gift we have some already. I smile hearing the guys make up behind me and practically cry on each other's shoulders.

My mother looks up at me briefly and smiles wryly. Men she mouths to me and laughs slightly. I secure the nappy and then lay out the vest, romper and bib Jay has chosen. We had some already upstairs for when we were still planning on living here.

My hair has all but dried and my mother secures it over my shoulder; asking me if I would like to sit down whilst she finishes off dressing baby. I smile up at her and take the weight off of my feet. Sitting down on the chair next to her. Gazing at Henry.

I gently push him closer and he latches on almost perfectly. It's good enough for a first go. So I keep him on there, smiling down at him as he begins to feed.

Henry unlatches, clearly finished with his feed. I glance at the clock and register the time trying to work out when his next feed will be. I’m keeping tabs on him already. I pass him to Jay instantly and he secures him over his back, burping him as I straighten myself out.

Completely unfazed he continues burping until Henry is finished. Once he burps the baby he passes him back to me and pulls his shirt off.
