Both Jay and myself were discharged before visiting hours, before anybody else arrived. The time for our little hospital escape ending, he holds my bags down to the foyer and I walk happily next to him as many nurses eye him up. Matthew is on his way with the car and so we wait together, I expect him to usher me outside into the snow for a cigarette however he finds a booth in the the small cafe and buys me a coffee.

Setting it down in front of me he takes a seat over the opposite side and I tell my body to shut up as it craves being near him, closer. I gaze into his blue, grey eyes as he sips his espresso watching me.

"What" he says watching me think. I consider how their relationship was fine until I made problems for him. Our intimacy and how it's grown, the convolution of my inner most thoughts and feelings growing. "I'll make a lamb curry tonight" I say as he pulls off of the highway. The small lanes up to wherever Jay's apartment is situated are not gritted and the snow is several metres deep now.

Matthew pulls into a complex of luxury, high rise apartment's with fantastic views over both the city and the natural landscape. Gilbert Scott I notice has a private drive, containing his Audi and the Range Rover he picked me up in, alongside his motorbike. Matthew pulls up by the range and we get out.

The drive links straight into the building where a private concierge is waiting in a smart suit, he wishes Jay a good day as he taps his key card onto the elevator and the doors open.

The mirrored elevator opens and we step in, floor sixty two highlights and as the door closes soft classical music sounds over the speakers. Without a doubt it is the smoothest ride in an elevator I have ever endured, with two built in benches upholstered in rich navy velour. I rest on one bench as the lift dings through each floor swiftly.

Once the doors finally open into Jay's apartment, I take in a vast skyline apartment looking not only over the city but beyond into the idilic mountains. I begin to imagine the views on a clear day and how you would be able to see way out further than you can now whilst the sky is full of snow. The windows stretch across the entire length of the far wall, and they are impressive. Jay flicks a switch and a dimmer blind falls from the ceiling to the floor, where you can still see the views yet the light is just slightly softer.

"Taylor, please come in" Jay says laughing slightly as I finally step out of the elevator, Matthew smirks as I look out into what might possibly be the largest living space I've ever seen.

A flatscreen that must be the size of my bedroom wall hangs from the far wall, a glass coffee table that takes pride in front of the large L shaped cream leather sofas, they are adorned with various different blankets including sheepskin and wool. All in neutral tones that complement the room. Beiges and light greys.

The floor a dark oak natural wood that has been given a gloss finish, it contracts nicely with the light cream walls. Jay takes my Barbour coat and hangs it on a fancy coat rack in its own separate room from the living space, conscious of my shoes marking his floor I slip off my boots and stand on the heated floor in my dance tights and legs warmers, feeling the heated floor under my feet.

"Taylor the least I can do is get you a drink would you like tea or coffee? A latte maybe?" He asks me as Matthew follows him through the hall, high ceilings and art work line the walls. I glance to my left and notice a separate laundry room, with functional cupboards and top of the range appliances.

The hall opens up eventually to a large kitchen area almost the size of the living space. Set against a large window with views over the skyline the modern kitchen has all electric appliances, a boiling hot water tap, dishwasher and a triple electric oven. A separate kitchen island holds the electric hob. I look up and see a large dangling droplet light cascading down into the space, over an impressive marble table decorated with twelve velvety chairs.

"A latte would be super" I look up at him and he smiles as my eyes catch the large print hung over the fireplace.

"I didn't bake them but they're great" he says indicating to a sterling silver cake stand. Matthew slices three pieces of carrot cake and places them on a plate as Jay hands me my latte.

I watch Jay saunter over to his bookcase and peruse a whole load of options. He delicately lifts an original out of the rack and smiles. Hovering over me smiling he hands me an Austen novel, pride and prejudice.

"Very good" I say to him and he laughs pleased with himself. I roll my eyes, sip my latte and then inspect the book thoroughly.

Matthew strokes my side as I read the book sinking further and further into the comfortable sofa. Losing all track of time and all interest in their conversation, I focus on the book and the developing plot between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy.

The light escapes us, the sky turning a dull grey and at this height you can practically see the large clumps of snow falling directly from the sky. When I look back into the room I smile up at Jay instantly and he smirks watching me. He cannot have been watching me for almost two hours. Can he?
