Jay Gilbert Scott has had the relevant training when it comes to charming a woman. Who could blame all of the girls before me who fell madly in love with him, I think to myself idly as we lay watching each other get our breaths back. His eyes glisten as he watches me. I pull the cotton covers over us and he holds onto my hip bones under them.

"Jay" I ask him. I have not held back from Jay since we started dating, however the last facet in my utter devotion to him is asking him about something from our shared past that I must know. Essentially there is not a right answer, only the truth. Should he present the truth to me then I will cement him into my life. I will throw caution to the wind and utterly allow myself to be pulled down into his chaotic adventurous current.

"This is going to be a curveball of a question" I warn him as he watches me with his peaceful eyes. An expression that tells me he will do anything to get this right.

"Remember, a long time ago when Jen outed me in front of everybody at Ryan's fancy dress party" I begin taking myself to that moment, where she ridiculed me. The venom behind her words, the need to cause me pain. Having seen me with Matty and fuelled by jealousy, she had dared Matty to tell me that our relationship at the time had been a bet between himself and the others. Once the words had left her mouth I knew that they could never be taken back, the shock on almost everybody’s face was evident. The way in which Rachel had begged her to stop. I watched on as she ruined my confidence, my worth and my entire world. Matthew had floundered lost in the accusation and unable to defend himself. It had been painful that seemingly everybody knew. Jay had remained poker faced, and I had been unsure of his involvement, it’s something I must know, now more than ever.

"Were you aware of the bet? Or were you involved in anyway? You said something to me about not having everything I needed in Matthew, I had disregarded it as sheer confidence and charm." I explain.

Jay doesn’t speak instantly, he thinks and processes the conversation before answering. Firstly, he strokes my bare back and thats how I know he knew about the whole thing. His body language is telling me that he's trying to keep me calm.

"I, wow that's a throw back." He stammers as I watch him intently stroking his blonde hair back before resting his hand back on me.

"So I was obviously a different guy then too. I wasn't there when the whole thing happened. I was with my mom in Dubai. I had not betted on you but I was curious about you before we even met" he begins earnestly.

"Jen was really jealous of you, obsessed even. I hadn't met you yet and she kept saying stuff about it to me. Like how you were with Matty but Ross wanted you and that they were arguing over you" he says weakly.

"I kept thinking who is this Taylor girl. I realised you must be really special. Jen went on about it all of the time, in her head it was a bet. She's never known love herself and she's never seen Matty loving anybody. That ate her up” he explains softly looking over my face as he does.

“When I returned from Dubai, I hit up every single party I could, just to get a glimpse of you. To work out who you were, and what kind of class girl wears Chanel to a house party. That made a statement to all of the girls and Ryan by the way. I needed to know what made you so special” he admits as I stroke his hair back, my faithful Jay who tells me everything.

“So I was pretty driven to work you out and I came by to see Matthew because I was curious, I just wanted to meet you. I wanted to see what you were like and why everybody was fighting. And when I saw you a lot changed for me Taylor. Not as much as now, but a lot considering I was a dick." He explains with a little grin on his face.

"I remember that night. The party. Taylor you looked out of everybody's league, sky high. I wanted you, I wanted to show you how much I was into you but the competition was just too big. I couldn't even get close to you, because you saw who I really was, an idiot. And I wanted to change so much to fit your ideals. Everything I did and said came across as wrong or crass” he explains stroking my hair back.

“Jen wanted to hurt you. You exposed all of her weaknesses, you made her seem inferior. Once she began her rant, I did tell her to shut up if I can defend myself. Your whole being looked sad, in shock. She had achieved her goal and Matthew just floundered instead of moving you out of the party. Your speech about being only with one man made me realise that you weren't tough and heartless like everybody else." He explains and I nod, a few stray tears escape my eyes.

“I'm sorry” he says finally and I nod appreciating his honestly and smiling at him broadly as he watches me quizzically and waits for my explanation.

“It was the not knowing, the pretend life. Jay that's one of the things I respect so much about you, you don't pretend, or present a different side. You were always you, flawed but learning. And now you are perfect to me. In every single way. I've been your friend, I've hated you, I've lusted over you. And now I love you. Jay I love you more than I have loved anybody." I tell him, gazing into his beautiful eyes.

Jay, searches my expression, the man who has changed the most. The enigmatic bad boy with the tattoos, watches me and I see the altogether new side to him. The parts of him that only I unlocked. My Jay, he cries in front of me and I'm so shocked. Full of emotion, I cry back at him and we hold each other in bed.

"I could never imagine that this would happen for me. For us. I was beyond happy when you gave me a chance. And I committed myself to making that work." He whispers over to me as my hands travel up to his face and wipe his cheeks free of tears.

"But I bought you something" he explains grasping at a box from his side of the bed. A small velvet box that’s the perfect shade of Tiffany blue.

"I was waiting for a moment, this is it" he smiles leaning up on his elbow and watching me as I take the box in my hands. I click the box open and eye the jewels inside, how they catch the light. Perfectly clear and pristine like the honesty and openness we share in our relationship.

"Jay." I gasp taking in the matching diamond necklace to my earrings. Undoing the clasp with his fingers he drapes the necklace around my bare neck and sighs as he takes it in. The way in which the diamonds glisten reflecting the warm glow from the chandelier above us.

"Perhaps Taylor you think it's a bit much but to me you have given me so much, so much love and life that I never knew before. You've become my eternity and if that's not what diamonds are for then I don't know what is. Taylor I want to be with you forever. I cannot imagine a life without you" he says smiling and suddenly we’re here in our forever after, gazing into one another’s eyes without a care in the world.

Jay Gilbert Scott has become undeniable, as I look over the four poster bed, the drapes pulled over and just beyond them the views over the lake I reflect on how far we have come in our relationship since our first date. We’ve become inseparable and despite the drama and the scepticism, we have found true unfaltering love.
