Tom managed to fracture my wrist just in time for the biggest opportunity in my life as a young dancer. My interview is in a few days for a dance company and as we arrive at the lake house I consider postponing it. I have a splint over my arm, a bandage and a whole host of negative feelings and animosity for my ex boyfriend. I see his contorted face in my mind as Jay walks around the cab to retrieve my door. My mind whirls trying to understand how he could possibly see me in that light, it’s true that he is devastatingly beautiful. And honestly when we began dating I had thought this would be fleeting for him, my resistance to his charm had been due to that fear for a very long time. The circumstances surrounding us during the time we had been flirting with one another and the fact that I was still romantically involved with Matthew I assumed would make him think less of me. "Shhh now sleep, I'm always going to be here." He whispers kissing my forehead as I huddle into him. Staring into his chest briefly as the conversation turns into silence and my thoughts take over. The ring sitting in my jewellery box, the one that Matthew proposed to me with is not mine anymore. It’s something I’ve held onto for long enough and should I give it back to him perhaps it will allow him to move on from us. I decide in my head that I must arrange a time to sit down with him and air out our relationship properly and most importantly to give him back the engagement ring that I no longer wear.
