Everything is open plan and airy, lots of open spaces in all of the main living spaces. I love that the corridors leading you through the house are all decorated with art.

We lingered in the nursery for a while which had been used by the previous homeowners baby. A baby boy, whose room had clouds and rainbows painted around the walls. Jay caught my eye as I stared down into the little crib, positioned in front of the large bay window looking out onto the gardens.

Once we're in the car and driving down the long drive it dawns on me that this will be ours. I glance over at Jay and he smiles.

I pace back to the car and then stop before getting in. Pacing back to the door more quickly, I stop in my tracks when I hear footsteps behind me. I whirl around taking in the gloomy garage. It strikes me that I’ve lived here for several months yet I still don’t know where everything is and I curse myself for being so unobservant. Garages usually have hammers and mallets and tools which would be handy for me to arm myself with right this very moment.

I’ve got to be proactive, yet I don’t want to alert my intruder and let him or her know that I am aware of them. I want this person to think that I’m completely unaware and unable to protect myself.
