Arising the following morning I look down at the blonde strands in my hair and smile. The sun filters through the voiles and I lay reminding myself that today is the day. Rachel will be wed today to the man of her dreams. Christopher I noticed steered clear of alcohol the night before and I couldn’t have picked a better man for my best friend.

It will be a large affair, and honestly I’m excited to meet more of Rachel’s family. Her cousins, she explained to me will be there and her mother. Her aunt from her mother’s side of the family, she has told me is a legend and I’m anticipating a rather large party afterwards.

Gazing at Henry as he lays sprawled out in the bassinet, one arm hooked above his head and the other draped over his tummy. Thankfully the sea breeze appears to have eased off today as I gaze at the cloudless sky and imagine myself in my dusty pink gown.

“If it’s a girl. I hope she is the image of you” he smiles and I nod slowly placing my hands over his on my bump. Imagining a little version of myself with curly hair and blue eyes. Picturing dressing her up in coordinating outfits and braiding her hair like my mother once did with my own.

“I’ve got to be at hair and makeup by nine am” I inform him as he kisses my neck slowly. Jay positions himself on top as I glance at the large iron clock on the wall and take in the time, eight am, my heart falters and he giggles pinning me down to the bed.

“I can’t imagine my life without you” I whisper and he giggles innocently. Taking control after he has alleviated the pain in my back I wash him, every single part of his body. We spend twenty or so minutes purely hugging under the stream of water until I hear my phone bleep incessantly from the bedside table and Henry stirring in his bassinet.

“Yes I just showered and I’m on my way now” I tell her as she begins fretting. I can hear from the tone of her voice that she is going to be unbearable today, and I don’t blame her one bit. If there’s one day in a woman’s life that she gets to be an overbearing drama queen it’s her wedding day.

“Of course” I say slowly placing her on speaker and pulling on a pair of linen shorts and a camisole. Jay watches me all the while dealing with our baby who is guzzling a bottle and thrashing his legs around excitedly.

“However it’s settled now and I’m on route” I explain grasping a large duffle and placing my dress in it. Alongside a cosmetics bag and the body oil I’m planning on lathering up in. I motion to Jay to pass me Henry for a cuddle and he smiles as I kiss and cuddle Henry.

“I love you” I tell him before sliding into my sandals and embracing him just one more time. Ten thirty and I’m out of the door, shouldering my duffle bag and heading out into the sunshine. The brunette that had been talking with Matthew the evening before sashays out of an adjoining villa, her dress from the night before still on as she scoops her hair into a ponytail and looks around conspicuously. Cheap shoes I notice as she paces down the resort in front of me, it’s not difficult to come to the conclusion that she spent the evening with Matthew. As far as I’m aware that’s his villa, and I can only assume he hooked up after a brief conversation the evening before. Decisively ignoring the situation and deciding that it’s none of my business, I cling onto bump and follow her and her cheap boots all the way down to the spa.
